Application of Nejayote as a Foliar and Edaphic Fertiliser to Native Blue Maize (Zea mays L.) Crops

Raw and treated “nejayote” were assessed as foliar and edaphic fertilisers for native blue maize (Zea mays L.) crops in the municipality of Amozoc de Mota, Puebla, Mexico, during the 2015 agricultural cycle. treated nejayote refers to raw nejayote subjected to a coagulation-flocculation process. two states of nejayote were established (raw and treated nejayote) with different physicochemical properties. Foliar bio-fertilisers were prepared from raw and treated nejayote and mixed with organic matter (OM) to promote a fermentation process. the foliar treatments used were: BNC5, BNC15, BNC30 (raw nejayote-based bio-fertiliser at 5%, 15%, and 30%), BNCQ5, and NCQ30 (nejayote treated by chemical coagulation at 5% and 30%), with Bt as a control (traditional bio-fertiliser). the edaphic treatments used were: NC50, NC75, and NC100 (raw nejayote at 50%, 75%, 100%), with AP as a control (drinking water), thus giving rise to 10 treatments in terms of content of raw or treated nejayote. Foliar and edaphic field treatments applied to native blue maize crops were statistically assessed using the following response variables: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and grain yield. the experiment was laid out in a randomised complete block design (RCBD) with five replications of each treatment. the results obtained showed, that foliar or edaphic application at the different stages of development did not produce statistically significant differences, at P ≤ 0.05, in terms of response variables. the most significant effects occurred at the early stage of plant development and were mainly reflected in the stem diameter with foliar treatment NCQ30 and in the number of leaves with foliar treatment BNC5. At the final stage of crop development, the highest yield (0.639 ± 0.121 t·ha-1) was obtained with treatment BNC5, which produced a statistically significant difference (b) in relation to the rest of the foliar and edaphic treatments (tukey P ≤ 0.05).

the emerging role of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles to ameliorate hippocampal NLRP3 inflammation induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescence

Our previous studies have reported that activation of the NLRP3(NOD-,LRR-and pyrin domain-containing protein 3)-inflammasome complex in ethanol-treated astrocytes and chronic alcohol-fed mice could be associated with neuroinflammation and brain *** stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles(MSC-EVs)have been shown to restore the neuroinflammatory response,along with myelin and synaptic structural alterations in the prefrontal cortex,and alleviate cognitive and memory dysfunctions induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** the therapeutic role of the molecules contained in mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles,the present study analyzed whether the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles isolated from adipose tissue,which inhibited the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome,was capable of reducing hippocampal neuroinflammation in adolescent mice treated with binge *** demonstrated that the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles ameliorated the activation of the hippocampal NLRP3 inflammasome complex and other NLRs inflammasomes(e.g.,pyrin domain-containing 1,caspase recruitment domain-containing 4,and absent in melanoma 2,as well as the alterations in inflammatory genes(interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,inducible nitric oxide synthase,nuclear factor-kappa B,monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and C–X3–C motif chemokine ligand 1)and miRNAs(miR-21a-5p,miR-146a-5p,and miR-141-5p)induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** analysis further revealed the involvement of miR-21a-5p and miR-146a-5p with inflammatory target genes and NOD-like receptor signaling *** together,these findings provide novel evidence of the therapeutic potential of MSC-derived EVs to ameliorate the hippocampal neuroinflammatory response associated with NLRP3 inflammasome activation induced by binge drinking in adolescence.

Proton pump inhibitors and all-cause mortality risk among cancer patients

Modelling the nesting-habitat of threatened vulture species in the caucasus:An ecosystem approach to formalising environmental factors in species distribution models

Pathophysiology of cerebral oedema in acute liver failure

Cerebral oedema is a devastating consequence of acute liver failure(ALF)and may be associated with the development of intracranial hypertension and *** ALF,some patients may develop cerebral oedema and increased intracranial pressure but progression to lifethreatening intracranial hypertension is less frequent than previously described,complicating less than one third of cases who have proceeded to coma since the advent of improved clinical *** rapid onset of encephalopathy may be dramatic with the development of asterixis,delirium,seizures and *** and vasogenic oedema mechanisms have been implicated with a preponderance of experimental data favouring a cytotoxic *** swelling is the most consistent neuropathological finding in humans with ALF and ammonia plays a definitive role in the development of cytotoxic brain *** mechanism(s)by which ammonia induces astrocyte swelling remains unclear but glutamine accumulation within astrocytes has led to the osmolyte *** evidence also supports an alternate‘trojan horse’hypothesis,with glutamine as a carrier of ammonia into mitochondria,where its accumulation results in oxidative stress,energy failure and ultimately astrocyte *** a complete breakdown of the blood-brain barrier is not evident in human ALF,increased permeation to water and other small molecules such as ammonia has been demonstrated resulting from subtle alterations in the protein composition of paracellular tight *** present,there is no fully efficacious therapy for cerebral oedema other than liver transplantation and this reflects our incomplete knowledge of the precise mechanisms underlying this process which remain largely unknown.

Drosophila melanogaster,*** common fhiit fly,is a simple organism that may give a rapid,high-throughput response in regard to the therapeutic efficacy of nanoparticles and drugs,while circumventing the high environmental and monetary cost of today's typical in vivo assays involving more complex animals,along with the immeasurable suffering imposed onto *** we give the progress report on our effort to turn *** into a model organism for the in vivo testing of Blood-Brain Barrier(BBB)penetration of nanoparticles and the treatment of infectious *** show that orally ingested superparamagnetic nanoparticles successfully cross the BBB in *** and localize to the optic lobes of the third instar larval brain,while causing no adverse effects to the invertebrate *** also show that both orally ingested calcium phosphate nanoparticles and biofilm-forming *** localize to the Drosophila crop,the food storage organ of the fly,which shrinks in response to *** model does not induce mortality consequential to infection and the effects of the internalization and proliferation of the microbes are evaluable by measuring the crop parameters,including fluorescence intensity and *** development of these two models could simplify the preclinical testing of medical treatments and of pharmaceutical agents for neurological and infectious disease,while ensuring robust and reliable levels of statistical significance at low cost.

Preparation and Structural Chemistry of a Series of Rare Earth Compounds REPS_4

the thiophosphates of the rare earths REPS 4(RE=Y, La～Lu) were prepared by solid state reaction. their unit cell parameters and the structures of HoPS 4, ErPS 4 and tmPS 4 were determined by X ray powder diffraction. All REPS 4(RE=Y, La～Yb) crystallize in the tetragonal space group I4 1/acd , a ≈1 1 nm, c ≈1 9 nm, Z =16 . Each RE 3+ is surrounded by eight sulfurs and thus forms a distorted tetragonal antiprism. this kind of structures has significant Van Der Waals′ vacant space with a diameter of about 0 625 nm along c axis and of 0 35 nm along a and b axis. But LuPS 4 crystallizes in a monoclinic structure which is most probably layered. the influence of lanthanide contraction on the stability of the tetragonal REAX 4 structure was studied and a criterion for the existence of the tetragonal structure in the REAX 4 series compounds is proposed. there is 2 4 d A X / r 1 9.
