The use of mesenchymal stem-cells(MSC)in cell therapy has received considerable attention because of their *** properties include high expansion and differentiation in vitro,low immunogenicity,and modulation of biological processes,such as inflammation,angiogenesis and ***,the regenerative effect of MSC is partly due to their paracrine *** has prompted numerous studies,to investigate the therapeutic potential of their secretome in general,and specifically their extracellular vesicles(EV).The latter contain proteins,lipids,nucleic acids,and other metabolites,which can cause physiological changes when released into recipient ***,contents of EV can be modulated by preconditioning MSC under different culture *** them,exposure to hypoxia stands out;these cells respond by activating hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF)at low O_(2) *** has direct and indirect pleiotropic effects,modulating expression of hundreds of genes involved in processes such as inflammation,migration,proliferation,differentiation,angiogenesis,metabolism,and cell *** of these genes is reflected in the contents of secreted ***,numerous studies show that MSC-derived EV conditioned under hypoxia have a higher regenerative capacity than those obtained under *** this review,we show the implications of hypoxia responses in relation to tissue *** addition,hypoxia preconditioning of MSC is being evaluated as a very attractive strategy for isolation of EV,with a high potential for clinical use in regenerative medicine that can be applied to different pathologies.

Modelling the nesting-habitat of threatened vulture species in the caucasus:An ecosystem approach to formalising environmental factors in species distribution models

Fruit Fly as a Model Organism for Blood-Brain Barrier Penetration and Infectious Disease in the Nanomedical Niche

Drosophila melanogaster,*** common fhiit fly,is a simple organism that may give a rapid,high-throughput response in regard to the therapeutic efficacy of nanoparticles and drugs,while circumventing the high environmental and monetary cost of today's typical in vivo assays involving more complex animals,along with the immeasurable suffering imposed onto *** we give the progress report on our effort to turn *** into a model organism for the in vivo testing of Blood-Brain Barrier(BBB)penetration of nanoparticles and the treatment of infectious *** show that orally ingested superparamagnetic nanoparticles successfully cross the BBB in *** and localize to the optic lobes of the third instar larval brain,while causing no adverse effects to the invertebrate *** also show that both orally ingested calcium phosphate nanoparticles and biofilm-forming *** localize to the Drosophila crop,the food storage organ of the fly,which shrinks in response to *** model does not induce mortality consequential to infection and the effects of the internalization and proliferation of the microbes are evaluable by measuring the crop parameters,including fluorescence intensity and *** development of these two models could simplify the preclinical testing of medical treatments and of pharmaceutical agents for neurological and infectious disease,while ensuring robust and reliable levels of statistical significance at low cost.

Comparative Analysis of Different Evaluation Functions for Protein Structure Prediction Under the HP Model

The HP model for protein structure prediction abstracts the fact that hydrophobicity is a dominant force in the protein folding process. This challenging combinatorial optimization problem has been widely addressed through metaheuristics. The evaluation function is a key component for the success of metaheuristics; the poor discrimination of the conventional evaluation function of the HP model has motivated the proposal of alternative formulations for this component. This comparative analysis inquires into the effectiveness of seven different evaluation functions for the HP model. The degree of discrimination provided by each of the studied functions, their capability to preserve a rank ordering among potential solutions which is consistent with the original objective of the HP model, as well as their effect on the performance of local search methods are analyzed. The obtained results indicate that studying alternative evaluation schemes for the HP model represents a highly valuable direction which merits more attention.

Preparation and Structural Chemistry of a Series of Rare Earth Compounds REPS_4

The thiophosphates of the rare earths REPS 4(RE=Y, La～Lu) were prepared by solid state reaction. Their unit cell parameters and the structures of HoPS 4, ErPS 4 and TmPS 4 were determined by X ray powder diffraction. All REPS 4(RE=Y, La～Yb) crystallize in the tetragonal space group I4 1/acd , a ≈1 1 nm, c ≈1 9 nm, Z =16 . Each RE 3+ is surrounded by eight sulfurs and thus forms a distorted tetragonal antiprism. This kind of structures has significant Van Der Waals′ vacant space with a diameter of about 0 625 nm along c axis and of 0 35 nm along a and b axis. But LuPS 4 crystallizes in a monoclinic structure which is most probably layered. The influence of lanthanide contraction on the stability of the tetragonal REAX 4 structure was studied and a criterion for the existence of the tetragonal structure in the REAX 4 series compounds is proposed. Arboviral diseases are viral infections transmitted to humans through the bites of arthropods,such as mosquitoes,often causing a variety of pathologies associated with high levels of morbidity and *** the past decades,these infections have proven to be a significant challenge to health systems worldwide,particularly following the considerable geographic expansion of the dengue virus(DENV)and its most recent outbreak in Latin America as well as the difficult-tocontrol outbreaks of yellow fever virus(YFV),chikungunya virus(CHIKV),and Zika virus(ZIKV),leaving behind a substantial portion of the population with complications related to these ***,the world is experiencing a period of intense globalization,which,combined with global warming,directly contributes to wider dissemination of arbovirus vectors across the ***,all continents remain on high alert for potential new ***,this review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the pathogenesis of the four main arboviruses today(DENV,ZIKV,YFV,and CHIKV)discussing their viral characteristics,immune responses,and mechanisms of viral evasion,as well as important clinical aspects for patient *** includes associated symptoms,laboratory tests,treatments,existing or developing vaccines and the main associated complications,thus integrating a broad historical,scientific and clinical approach.
