The lysosome is responsible for protein and organelle degradation and homeostasis and the cathepsins play a key role in maintaining protein quality *** D(CTSD),is one such lysosomal protease,which when deficient in humans lead to neurolipofuscinosis(NCL)and is important in removing toxic protein *** studies demonstrated that CTSD germ-line knockout-CtsdKO(CDKO)resulted in accumulation of protein aggregates,decreased proteasomal activities,and postnatal lethality on Day 26±*** of wildtype CTSD,but not cathepsin B,L or mutant CTSD,decreased a-synuclein toxicity in worms and mammalian *** this study we generated a mouse line expressing human CTSD with a floxed STOP cassette between the ubiquitous CAG promoter and the *** crossing with Nestin-cre,the STOP cassette is deleted in NESTIN+cells to allow CTSD overexpression-CTSDtg(CDtg).The CDtg mice exhibited normal behavior and similar sensitivity to subchronic 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(mPTP)induced *** breeding CDtg mice with CDKO mice,we found that over-expression of CTSD extended the lifespan of the CDKO mice,partially rescued proteasomal deficits and the accumulation of Aβ42 in the *** new transgenic mouse provides supports for the key role of CTSD in protecting against proteotoxicity and offers a new model to study the role of CTSD enhancement in vivo.

The present study investigated the effect of partial replacement of soybean meal(Glycine max) with canola meal(Cm)(Brassica napus) on the growth performance,haematology,serum biochemistry and meat quality characteristics of female Japanese quails in a 35-day feeding *** hundred and forty6-week-old quails 158.28 ± 11.919 g were randomly allocated to 5 isonitrogenous and isoenergetic experimental diets: control diet(Cm0; with no Cm inclusion); Cm0 with 2.5%(Cm25),5.0%(Cm50),12.5%(Cm125) and 17.5%(Cm175) soybean meal replaced with *** weekly gain(AWG) and feed conversion efficiency(FCE) were ***,serum biochemistry,carcass traits and meat quality parameters were determined at *** fed Cm175 had the lowest(P mong the other 4 *** dietary effects on AWG,FCE and haematological parameters were *** biochemical parameters were not influenced by diets with the exception of alkaline phosphatase(ALP),where quails fed Cm25 had higher ALP(161.0 U/L) than those fed Cm0(37.25 U/L).Quails fed Cm25 had the highest chroma(7.39) while those fed Cm125 had the lowest(3.58) at 24 h *** had no influence(P > 0.05) on cooking losses and peak positive force of quail *** was concluded that Cm can replace soybean in quail diets up to 12.5% without compromising growth performance,health and quality of *** levels beyond 12.5% promoted poor voluntary feed intake and thus may require feed additives to enhance utilization.

Cryotic climate conditions and their eventual implication in the high-mountain surface of the Nevado de Toluca volcano, mexico

The state of the cryosphere in tropical regions is of great importance because the temperature around the glaciers, permafrost and snow cover always fluctuates near the melting point. These thermal conditions and their high sensitivity to climate change cause the accelerated disappearance of these elements;therefore, it is important to know the climatic factors that regulate them, as well as the physical characteristics of each cryospheric element. Unlike glaciers, permafrost and snow cover have not been widely studied. In recent decades, the study of the glacial and periglacial environment has been carried out in intertropical mountains. However, despite the altitude of their relief and the frequent occurrence of snowfall in tropical high mountains, the conditions that determine such events have been barely analyzed;and in the case of mexico, the volume of snowfall and its thickness have not been quantified either, as well as their corresponding duration. Consequently, this work is aimed to analyze the temperature and precipitation conditions that determine the snowfall at the higher part of the Nevado de Toluca volcano;at the same time, the conditions of the cryotic climate and their possible implication on the surface are studied. The analysis of data from 1965 to 2016, using frequency statistics, allowed to realize that snowfall occurs with low intensity, its accumulation being less than 10 cm thick and 10 mm of snow water equivalent, which causes the snowpack to stay only a few weeks on average. At the same time, it was determined that there is a significant increase in the number of freeze-thaw cycles. Therefore, due to the climate conditions and their influence on the mountain surface, it is probable that the bedrock is subject to a greater gelifraction dynamics, and the unconsolidated soil surface increases;the combination of the above could cause a greater geomorphological dynamic over time, particularly due to debris flows, and by water and wind erosion of

The design of active acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)catalysts is of paramount importance to achieve efficient large-current-density industrial hydrogen fuel production via water ***,we develop a Pt-based catalyst with high electrochemical activity for the OER in acidic conditions under a large *** achieve this by modulating the electronic structure of Pt into a high-valence,electron-accessible Pt1^((2.4+δ)+)(δ=0-0.7)state during the *** electron-accessible Pt1^((2.4+δ)+)single-site catalyst can effectively maintain a large OER current density of 120 mA cm^(-2)for more than 12 h in 0.5 m H_(2)SO_(4) at a low overpotential of 405 mV,and it shows a high mass activity of~3350 A gmetal^(-1)at 10 mA cm^(-2) current density and 232 mV *** in situ synchrotron radiation infrared and X-ray absorption spectroscopies,we directly observe in an experiment that a key(*O)-Pt_(1)-C_(2)N_(2) intermediate is produced by the potential-driven structural optimization of square pyramidal Pt_(1)-C_(2)N_(2) moieties;this highly favors the dissociation of H_(2)O over Pt1^(2.4+δ)^(+)sites and prevents over-oxidation and dissolution of the active sites.

Satellite mapping of air temperature under polar night conditions

A novel satellite technique for air temperature mapping with a spatial resolution of~100 m was proposed for the town of Apatity,the Kola Peninsula(Russia),taken as a case *** main idea behind this novel technique is to find the statistical relationships between the land surface temperatures in each point of the study area,observed by multiple infrared thermal satellite imagery,and the time series of air temperatures recorded by World meteorological Organization(WmO)weather *** scenes of infrared thermal spectral band of the Landsat satellites for the period 2014–2019 were used,as well as the long-term time series of air temperature from the weather station and the results of air temperature observations carried out by the network of *** calm weather conditions,according to the ground truth,the error of air temperature mapping wasσ=1.5°C,and the precision was estimated asδ=1.0°*** analysis of the compiled air temperature map showed that,under polar night conditions,the air temperature on the hilltops was by 10–18°C higher than in the *** was concluded that,for economic reasons,as well as for the reasons of population health protection in the Arctic,it would be advisable to plan the placement of new cities on the *** of these new areas should be designed in a“semi-isolated”manner in order to minimize the time needed by the local people for crossing the lowlands between the nearby districts.A characteristic feature of modern megalopolises is their internal structure formed by the growing primary settlements that can be considered as nuclei interlinked by transportation ***,the new Arctic cities can be called“Arctic megalopolises”because of their internal structure that is specific to megalopolises.

Research on two-dimensional(2D) materials is one of the most active fields in materials science and nanotechnology. Among the members of the 2D family, layered hydroxides(LHs) represent an exceptional case of study due to their unparalleled chemical versatility which allows the modulation of their physicochemical properties at will. Nowadays, LHs based on earth-abundant metals are key materials in the areas of energy storage and conversion, hybrid materials or magnetism. α-Co hydroxides(Simonkolleite-like structures) are promising phases with tuneable electronic and magnetic properties by ligand modification. However, even in the simple case of α-Co^(Ⅱ) hydroxychlorides, the preparation of well-defined large 2D crystals is not straightforward, hindering the development of fundamental studies. Herein, we present the synthesis of 2D hexagonal crystals with outstanding sizethickness relationship(diameter > 5 μm and thickness of 20 ± 7 nm) by a simple homogeneous synthesis taking place at room temperature. In structural terms, no differences are observed between our layered materials and those obtained hydrothermally. However, dynamic susceptibility measurements alert about different arrangements of the magnetic sublattices, which have been rationalized with structural DFT calculations. This work provides an extremely easy bottom-up method to obtain high-quality 2D crystals based on α-CoIIhydroxides,paving the way for the development of fundamental studies and applications.

With the goal of accelerating the design and discovery of metal–organic frameworks(mOFs)for electronic,optoelectronic,and energy storage applications,we present a dataset of predicted electronic structure properties for thousands of mOFs carried out using multiple density functional *** to more accurate hybrid functionals,we find that the widely used PBE generalized gradient approximation(GGA)functional severely underpredicts mOF band gaps in a largely systematic manner for semi-conductors and insulators without magnetic ***,an even larger and less predictable disparity in the band gap prediction is present for mOFs with open-shell 3d transition metal *** regards to partial atomic charges,we find that different density functional approximations predict similar charges overall,although hybrid functionals tend to shift electron density away from the metal centers and onto the ligand environments compared to the GGA point of *** more significant differences in partial atomic charges are observed when comparing different charge partitioning *** conclude by using the dataset of computed mOF properties to train machine-learning models that can rapidly predict mOF band gaps for all four density functional approximations considered in this work,paving the way for future high-throughput screening *** encourage exploration and reuse of the theoretical calculations presented in this work,the curated data is made publicly available via an interactive and user-friendly web application on the materials Project.

起落架是飞行器机体噪声的主要声源,是当前气动声学界关注的一个焦点。为分析不同结构参数对起落架噪声特征的影响,在FL-175.5 m×4.0 m航空声学风洞开展了大尺度起落架简化模型试验研究。试验包括34 m/s~75 m/s内5个风速,采用自由场传声器与相位传声器阵列开展声学测量。试验系统分析了模型噪声源位置、部件贡献与噪声指向性规律,获得了风速变化下起落架噪声特征;通过控制结构参数,结果表明起落架高度、轮直径、攻角、轮数、轮攻角对起落架噪声特征具有重要影响,而8°范围内偏角影响相对较弱。
