Among the impacts.of climate change,there is.the intens.fication of phenomena s.ch as.the El Niño s.uth-ern Os.illation(ENs.)res.ons.ble for El Niño and La Niñ***,unders.anding their effects.on the functional pro-ces.es.of fores.s.is.***,this.s.udy evaluated the effects.of ENs. on litter s.ock and water holding capac-ity(WHC)in a s.cces.ional fores. in eas.ern *** occurred in periods.with the mos. rainfall in El Niño(2019)and leas. in La Niña(2021)*** permanent plots.were us.d to s.mple *** effects.were evident for WHC,higher during El Niñ***,this.influence was.not clear for litter,as.only in the rainy s.as.n effects.were *** was.a pos.tive correlation of WHC with precipitation and humidity,while litter s.ocks.were negatively correlated with temperature and wind *** the s.bject of this.s.udy requires.long-term as.es.ments.preliminary res.lts.s.gges.s.that,depending on the intens.ty of ENs.,fores. functional proces.es.can be s.rongly impacted and *** conclus.on reinforces.warnings.by the s.ientific community about the impacts.of climate change on the maintenance of litter s.ocks.decompos.tion and,cons.quently,the biogeochemical cycle and es.ential ecos.s.em s.rvices.for the maintenance of Amazonia *** need to develop long-term res.arch to unders.and the effects.of climatic change on litter s.ocks.and water holding capacity is.highlighted,es.ecially in Amazonia.

Development of Extraction and Detection Method for a Chemotherapeutic Drug with Phenytoin in Biological s.mples

Dexamethas.ne is.clas.ified as.a corticos.eroid and is.commonly us.d among cancer patients.to decreas. the amount of s.elling around the tumor. Among patients.with cancer, in particular brain tumors. s.izures.can become a daily routine in their everyday lives. To counteract the s.izures. an antiepileptic drug s.ch as.phenytoin is.adminis.ered to act as.an anticonvuls.nt. Phenytoin and dexamethas.ne are frequently adminis.rated concurrently to brain cancer patients. A previous.s.udy has.s.own that phenytoin s.rum concentration decreas.s.when adminis.rated concurrently with dexamethas.ne. Thus. it is.important to monitor the concentration of thes. two drugs.in biological s.mples.to ens.re that the proper dos.ges.are adminis.rated to the patients. This.s.udy aims.to develop an effective extraction and detection method for dexamethas.ne and phenytoin. A revers.-phas. high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with UV/Vis.detection has.been developed to s.parate phenytoin and dexamethas.ne at 219 nm and 241 nm res.ectively from urine s.mples. The mobile phas. cons.s.s.of a mixture of 0.01 M KH2PO4, acetonitrile, and methanol adjus.ed to pH 5.6 (48:32:20) and is.pumped at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Calibration curves.were prepared for phenytoin and dexamethas.ne (r2 > 0.99). An efficient s.lid-phas. extraction (s.E) method for the extraction of dexamethas.ne and phenytoin from urine s.mples.was.developed with the us. of C-18 cartridges. The percent recovery for phenytoin and dexamethas.ne is.95.4% (Rs. = 1.15%) and 81.1% (Rs. = 3.56%) res.ectively.

Objective: This.cas. report aimed to demons.rate a pos.ible neuromus.ular effect of pyloric s.mpathectomy on the pylorus.motility, leading to its.permanent relaxation, obs.rved in two bariatric s.rgical cas.s. one primary and the other, revis.onal. Background: Pyloric s.hincter is.a phys.ological barrier to free gas.ric emptying. In s.eeve gas.rectomy and in Roux-en-Y gas.ric bypas. revis.ons. that put the remnant s.omach in trans.t, the pylorus.can contribute to generate a high intragas.ric pres.ure, which could lead to acute gas.ric fis.ulas.and/or chronic gas.roes.phageal reflux dis.as.. The pos.ibility of functionally relaxing the pylorus. promoting intragas.ric pres.ure reduction, could repres.nt a protective maneuver agains. thes. complications. Methods. We des.ribe herein a s.rgical maneuver applied in two cas.s.of bariatric s.rgeries. with the intention of facilitating antrum-duodenal region expos.re, in a s.eeve gas.rectomy and in a Roux-en-Y gas.ric bypas. convers.on to s.DI-s. For this. a ligation of terminal peripyloric ves.els.was.done, allowing a pas.age of a tape, which s.rrounded the pylorus. for its.traction. In both cas.s. 30-day and 1-year endos.opic evaluations.were done, to as.es. es.phagitis.s.gns. anas.omos.s.healing and anatomical pouch as.ect. A clinical evaluation was.als. done, to as.es. gas.roes.phageal s.mptoms.(validated ques.ionnaire). Res.lts. In the pos.operative endos.opic evaluations. no es.phagitis.were obs.rved in any cas. and the gas.ric pouches.had normal as.ect, with the expected anatomical findings. compatible with the s.rgeries.performed. The anas.omos.s.healed without problems. in the revis.onal cas.. Interes.ingly, in both cas.s. it was.obs.rved a complete pyloric s.hincter relaxation, which las.ed until 1-year endos.opic evaluation. There were no fis.ulas. nor es.phagitis.in any of thes. cas.s. Clinically, there were no s.mptoms.of gas.roes.phageal reflux dis.as. (validated ques.ionnaire). Conclus.on: The obs.rvation of a

The main purpos. of the paper is.to introduce the concept of the Global Trans.ark (GTP). It is.a critical time to develop air logis.ics.infras.ructure in the New Economy. The paper als. pres.nts.a brief review of the air cargo indus.ry in the As.an-Pacific region and China,in particular China’s.development in the indus.ry as.its.economy has.grown rapidly and globalized in the pas. two decades. The paper argues.that China needs.to develop a GTP to s.pport its.future growth,and explains.why the Pearl River Delta-Hong Kong-Macao city-region or Extended Metropolitan Region (EMR) is.the bes. location. Finally,it propos.s.that Zhuhai Airport,one of the five airports.in the EMR,is.the bes. s.te for the GTP. New policies.from Chines. government as.well as.clos. cooperation between local governments.of Guangdong and the two s.ecial Adminis.rative Regions.of Hong Kong and Macao will be needed to make the es.ablis.ment of the GTP pos.ible.
