mesoporous Au films consisting of a network of interconnected Au ligaments around ultra-large pores were found to exhibit a promising electrocatalytic activity towards sluggish reactions. mesoporous Au films with pore sizes up to 25 nm were successfully fabricated using a polymeric micelle approach. A superior catalytic activity of the mesoporous Au films towards methanol oxidation was confirmed, which was thoroughly analyzed and compared with that of other Au materials. An intrinsic investigation on the high catalytic activity revealed that the superior performance of the as-prepared mesoporous Au film was related to its unique atomic structures around the mesopores with well- crystallized facets and several step/kink sites on the Au surfaces. These findings showcase a strategic and feasible design for preparing highly active Au-based catalysts that could be used as promising candidates in electrocatalytic applications.

Actual evapotranspiration(ET)is a major component of the water *** several international flux measurement programs have been executed in the tropical rain forest of the Amazon,those measurements represent the evaporative process at a few selected sites *** aim of this study is to obtain the spatial distribution of ET,using remote sensing techniques,across the entire Amazon River *** from six global ET products based on remote sensing techniques(GLEAm,SEBS,ALEXI,CmRSET,mOD16,and SSEBop)were merged to obtain an ensemble prediction of the ET rates for the complex and in-accessible environment of the Amazon at a spatial resolution of 250 *** study shows that the basinwide average ET is 1316 mm/year with a standard deviation of 192 mm/*** new ET-Amazon product was validated against seven different historic flux tower *** energy balance closure of the in situ measurements varied between 86 and 116%.Only months with more than 70%completeness of in situ measurements were considered for *** procedures for closure correction were included in the *** correlation between measured and remotely sensed ET is good(R2>0.97 for consecutive periods of 2 to 12months),and the bias correction is negligible for the energy balance residual method,which seemed most *** ET values have more *** monthly RmSE values vary between 7.4 and 27.8 mm/month(the average RmSE is 22.2mm/month),and the coefficient of determination(R2)varies between 0.48 and 0.87(the average R2 is 0.53).The ET from the water balance is 1380 mm/year,being−64 mm/year difference and 4.6%less than ET derived from the water *** evaporation from the Amazon basin inside Brazil is 5063 km3/year,followed by Peru with 1165 km3/***-Amazon shows more spatial details and accuracy than alternative global ET products such as LandFlux-EVAL,model Tree Ensemble(mTE),and *** justifies the development of new regional ET pro

The nanostructured titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))thin films have been prepared for the molar concentrations of titanium tetra isopropoxide(TTIP)0.05 m,0.1 m,0.15 m and 0.2 m by sol-gel routed spin coating technique with calcination at 450℃.The processing parameters such as,pH value(8),catalyst HCl(0.1 ml),spin speed(3000 rpm)and calcination temperature(450℃)are *** crystalline nature and surface morphology were analyzed by XRD,SEm and AFm *** XRD results confirm that the films are crystalline with anatase phase,and are *** SEm micrographs of the TiO_(2) film reveal the spherical nature of the *** analysis establishes that the uniformity of the TiO_(2) thin film was optimized at 0.2 *** optical measurements show that the transmittance depends on the molarity,and the optical band gap energy of TiO_(2) films is found to be inversely proportional to *** I-V characteristics exhibit that the molarity strongly influences the electrical conductivity of the *** results indicate that the significant effect of molarity on structural,optical and electrical properties of the nanostructured TiO_(2) thin films will be useful to photovoltaic application.

In November 2015,El Salvador reported their first case of Zika virus(ZIKV)infection,an event followed by an explosive outbreak that generated over 6000 suspected cases in a period of two *** agencies began implementing control measures that included vector control and recommending an increased use of ***,in response to the alarming and growing number of microcephaly cases in Brazil,the importance of avoiding pregnancies for two years was *** this paper,we explore the role of mobility within communities characterized by extreme poverty,crime and ***,the role of short term mobility between two idealized interconnected highly distinct communities is explored in the context of ZIKV *** make use of a Lagrangian modeling approach within a two-patch setting in order to highlight the possible effects that short-term mobility,within highly distinct environments,may have on the dynamics of ZIKV outbreak when the overall goal is to reduce the number of cases not just in the most affluent areas but *** depend on existing mobility patterns,levels of disease risk,and the ability of federal or state public health services to invest in resource limited areas,particularly in those where violence is *** results of simulations in highly polarized and simplified scenarios are used to assess the role of *** quickly became evident that matching observed patterns of ZIKV outbreaks could not be captured without incorporating increasing levels of *** number of distinct patches and variations on patch connectivity structure required to match ZIKV patterns could not be met within the highly aggregated model that is used in the simulations.

While multiple sclerosis (mS) is more common among Caucasian populations, its prevalence is increasingly noted in ethnic groups that had previously been considered to have a low frequency of the disease. Epidemiologic studies indicate a considerable augmentation of mS presence in areas such the middle East[1] and Latin American countries(2)Along with the general clinical effects of this complex neurological disorder is the impact exerted by some of its comorbid neuropsychiatric manifestations particularly depression, described as affecting three times higher mS patients than the general population(3)Literature and general perceptions had suggested clinical depression, although chronic in most mS cases, was unrelated to disability progression or disease course[4,5].

A 26-year-old male presented with three weeks of jaundice after the self-initiation of the injectable anabolic steroid, mastabol [Dromastanolone Di-Propionate (17 beta-Hydroxy-2alpha-methyl-5alpha-androstan-3one propionate)]. He reported dark urine, light stools, and pruritus. He denied abdominal pain, intravenous drug use, intranasal cocaine, blood transfusions, newly placed tattoos, or sexually transmitted diseases. He used alcohol sparingly. Physical exam revealed jaundice with deep scleral icterus. The liver was palpable 2 cm below the right costal margin with no ascites. The peak bilirubin was 23.6 mg/dL, alkaline phosphatase was 441 units/L, and aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase were 70 units/L and 117 units/L respectively. A working diagnosis of acute intrahepatic cholestasis was made. Liver biopsy revealed a centrilobular insult with neutrophilic infiltrates and Ito cell hyperplasia consistent with acute drug induced cholestasis. The patient' s clinical symptoms resolved and his liver enzymes, bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase normalized. Anabolic steroids with 17 alpha carbon substitutions have been associated with a bland variety of cholestatic injury with little hepatocellular injury. Cholestasis, under these circumstances, may be secondary to the binding of drugs to canalicular membrane transporters, accumulation of toxic bile acids from canalicular pump failure, or genetic defects in canalicular transport proteins. mastabol is an injectable, 17 beta hydroxyl compound with no alpha alkyl groups at the 17 carbon position. As such, it has been reported to have little potential toxic effects on the liver. This is the first known reported case of mastabolinduced cholestatic liver injury. It highlights the need for physicians to consider such widely available substances when faced with hepatic injury of unclear etiology.
