With the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,diabetes management has become more challenging than it has ever *** on the management of diabetes during this time are ***,the lack of information on the potential role of religious factors and faith communities in diabetes management during the COVID-19 era prevents us from fully understanding the issue of diabetes management during the COVID-19 pandemic *** with chronic conditions such as diabetes may benefit from some form of religious support from faith communities and their ability to cope could be fostered by some religious *** is unclear how religious factors and faith communities contribute to diabetes *** this article,the authors examine how people with diabetes can be aided in the COVID-19 pandemic period from the perspective of religious factors and faith *** on the studies identified,it appears that religious factors and faith communities play an important role in managing diabetes among patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Management of diabetes constitutes significant social and economic burdens *** is a shortage of empirical studies on the management of diabetes and the associated mental health issues through spiritual beliefs and faith-based interventions(FBIs).It is not also clear how spiritual beliefs and FBIs account for the effective management of diabetic *** article discusses the impact of spiritual beliefs and FBIs in the management of diabetes,from relationship and efficacy studies that report outcomes from experimental procedures of related *** majority of the relationship studies showed positive relationships,while efficacy studies showed a high efficacy of interventions in faith-based ***,none of the studies clearly reported the mechanisms of change or modality of operation in a FBI that can serve as a model across culture and *** mechanisms of change were discussed for further development of a standard faith-based model,and finally,suggestions for future research were also highlighted by the authors.

This study aims to evaluate the presence of free chlorides by the silver nitrate colorimetric spraying method in mortars made with Portland cement CP II Z-32. In order to make an assessment beyond the qualitative analysis, a calculation of the contaminated areas by free chlorides was performed by measuring the regions using a computer image analysis software （IMAGEJ）. The experimental part of the research involved samples of 5 cm x 10 cm of mortar and 0.1 M solution of silver nitrate in distilled water. The mortar samples were made with cement CP II Z-32 with the following concentrations of chloride incorporated into the mixing water： 0%0, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0% and 2.0%, in relation to the mass of cement, totaling 108 samples. The average of percentage results from the contaminated area of the series of samples was respectively 0%, 14.9694%, 19.7444%, 46.0239%, 62.3311% and 96.0083% in relation to the total area, concluding that the method of silver nitrate spraying is applicable and that the white color indicates the presence of chloride ions and other possible aggressive salts to the structure or the concrete.

To examine the protection against reinforcement corrosion due to the combined action of CO2 and chlorides, experimental results of the evaluation of a study with three types of cement are presented. The study was performed observing the behavior of reinforcements which were put in samples submitted to accelerated carbonatation tests and accelerated tests under the effect of chlorides. For the evaluation, intensity corrosion measurements were used using the Pr （polarization resistance） technique, employing these measures as a deterioration indicator. Three types of cement available in the national market were used. The obtained results enabled the classification of the used cements, comparing their profile behaviors in the conditions of the proposed tests.

AIM To research the influence of season of the year on periprosthetic joint *** We conducted a retrospective review of the entire Medicare files from 2005 to 2014. Seasons were classified as spring, summer, fall or winter. Regional variations were accounted for by dividing patients into four geographic regions as per the United States Census Bureau(Northeast, Midwest, West and South). Acute postoperative infection and deep periprosthetic infections within 90 d after surgery were tracked. RESULTS In all regions, winter had the highest incidence of periprosthetic infections(mean 0.98%, SD 0.1%) and was significantly higher than other seasons in the Midwest, South and West(P < 0.05 for all) but not the Northeast(P = 0.358). Acute postoperative infection rates were more frequent in the summer and were significantly affected by season of the year in the *** Season of the year is a risk factor for periprosthetic joint infection following total hip arthroplasty(THA). Understanding the influence of season on outcomes following THA is essential when risk-stratifying patients to optimize outcomes and reduce episode of care costs.

Limitations imposed by Four-Wave Mixing (FWM), Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE), dispersion and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) on a multi-spam DWDM system are theoretically studied. In this work, expression for the linear dispersion parameter D has been defined as a function of number of channels in order to separate FWM and SRS effects and calculates both maximum fibre length and optimum power. Additionally, our simulation results consider the effect of ASE noise from Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifiers (EDFAs). This theoretical analysis yields a set of design criteria from optimized multi-span DWDM systems.

The Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor (CEOT) also called the Pindborg’s Tumor represents a rare benign epithelial odontogenic neoplasm with locally aggressive behavior. Surgical excision with a safety margin is one of the treatment options, requiring bone and soft tissue reconstruction for implant-supported rehabilitation, providing the individual with a return to adequate oral functions. The objective of the present study is to report on the case of the treatment stages and the factors involved in the rehabilitation of a 23-year-old man with a history of mandibular lesion diagnosed as CEOT. A marginal resection of the mandible lesion was performed, with posterior reconstruction with iliac crest bone graft and soft tissue graft to allow the implant-supported rehabilitation. Currently, in the postoperative control, the individual shows no signs of tumor recurrence and is rehabilitated without functional and/or aesthetic complaints. Surgical excision should be framed as a form of treatment, aiming for better resolution in the more complex cases of these invasive tumors.

Giant Sialolith with 20 Years of Evolution in the Submandibular Duct

Sialolithiasis is a common disease that affects the major salivary glands, which is characterized by obstruction of the gland itself or its excretory duct due to the formation of a sialolith, resulting in decreased salivary flow. It mainly affects the submandibular glands (80% - 90%), probably because it has a long duct that surrounds the mylohyoid muscle and emerges against gravity through the Wharton’s duct. The size of the salivary calculus can vary from below 1 millimeter (mm) to a few centimeters in diameter, where most stay below 10 mm. Only 7% are greater than 15 mm and these are classified as giant calculi. This report presents a case of asymptomatic giant sialolith (approximately 60 mm in diameter) located in the duct of the right submandibular gland, with 20 years of evolution. The treatment of choice was the surgical removal of the sialolith (calculus) through the salivary duct with maintenance of the gland. Although the individual did not present complaints related to the presence of the giant calculi, its removal had a great impact on their quality of life, since a significant respiratory improvement was reported by the individual. The major difference reported was better sleep quality.
