Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a tobacco control course in the reduction of prevalence and the improvement of knowledge and attitudes among university health students. method: Quasi-experimental study on a community based intervention. Interventional campus students received a tobacco control course in the first year of the degree. Data were collected by Self-Answered Questionnaire during three academic years in two graduations years among health students in both campuses. Results: 84.4% of students participated in the study. In both campuses tobacco use was reduced, not significantly, above all in those joining courses from origins other than baccalaureate. In the intervention and control campus showed an increase in the nicotine dependency according to Fagerstr?m test and a little change in motivation according toRichmondtest. The regression model best explaining the improving of the knowledge included academic course mainly and campus and academic background too. With regard to opinions and beliefs tobacco use was not influenced, being associated in general to the academic course. Conclusions: A specific tobacco control course did not change prevalence of tobacco, nicotine dependence and motivation to give up. The improvement in knowledge was associated with academic course in both campuses. We recommend to commence smoking cessation strategies in university health students.

上海世博会西班牙馆项目本身是一个与西班牙文化相连接,同时在中国的文脉下产生了协同增效作用的可识别空间。该馆具有明确的标志性,同时也顺应本次世博会的主题"更好的城市,更好的生活"提出了城市发展应当以自然与人工在形式和功能上的交融为基础。此设计方案将创造一种人工种植的树木,馆体被西班牙的农业特产所包围,尤其是橙树和柠檬树。这些激光裁切的金属片所构成的树木将会组成建筑的物理构架,同时也包含其自身的新陈代谢系统。这些树木树冠处的光合作用面板将会为建筑提供能源,并通过结构性元素分散到聚光灯处来间接地为室内提供照明。结构的尺度(内部高度为5m)足够放置空调和水蒸气系统。电梯也将被纳入到这些结构当中,这将为创造更大的空间来容纳世博会的活动成为可能。同样的原理也被应用到建造一系列西班牙馆主体周围的小型馆中。

This study aimed to show that the physicochemical proprieties obtained by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, thermogravimetry （TG）, and scanning electronic microscopy （SEm） can be useful tools for evaluating the quality of active pharmaceutical ingredients （APIs） and pharmaceutical products. In addition, a simple, sensitive, and efficient method employing HPLC-DAD was developed for simulta- neous determination of lidocaine （LID）, ciprofloxacin （CFX） and enrofloxacin （EFX） in raw materials and in veterinary pharmaceutical formulations. Compounds were separated using a Gemini Cm （250 mm×4.6 mm, 5μm） Phenomenex column, at a temperature of 25℃, with a mobile phase containing 10 mm of phosphoric acid （pH 3.29）： acetonitrile （85.7：14.3, v/v） and a flow rate of 1.5 mL/min. Physicochemical characterization by TG, FTIR, and SEm of raw materials of LID, CFX, and EFX provided information useful for the evaluation, differentiation, and qualification of raw materials. Finally, the HPLC method was proved to be useful for evaluation of raw material and finished products, besides satisfying the need for an analytical method that allows simultaneous determination of EFX, CFX, and LID, which can also be extended to other matrices and applications.

Fruit rot, besides causing losses in production, reduces the final quality of the product interfering in the commercialization. The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of alternative products applied to pre-harvest for control of brown rot (monilinia fructicola) and soft rot (Rhizopus spp.) In peaches. The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Nepomuceno-mG, in a peach orchard of the cultivar Diamante. The experimental design was a randomized block design with 7 treatments and 3 replicates, with field plots formed by 12 plants (arranged in 3 rows), being considered for the evaluations only the two central plants. Three applications were made at flowering and at 21;7 and 3 days before harvest, with solutions containing the following treatments: 1-Clove oil 0.1%;2-silicate clay 1.5%;3-Phosphite K 0.20%;4-Benzalkonium chloride 0.25%;5-Azoxystrobin 0.02%;6-Iprodione 0.15%;7-Witness (water only). Treatments 4 and 5 were applied only at 21 and 7 days before harvest. Ten fruits were selected and placed in sterile trays under uncontrolled conditions, with disease evaluations at 3 and 6 days after the beginning of storage in 2005 and at 3;6 and 9 days in 2006. The iprodione controlled the incidence of m. fructicola and had no effect on Rhizopus spp. Clove oil controlled the incidence and severity of m. fructicola by the fifth day and Rhizopus spp. by the sixth day. The phosphites of k, benzalkonium chloride and azoxystrobin were efficient in controlling the incidence and severity of Rhizopus spp. and had no effect on m. fructicola.

Interpolation methods in ArcGIS_ESRI Geostatistical Analyst tool allow obtaining unknown values at unsampled points from observed data and generating continuous surfaces. In this paper, forest data variables as tree height and diameter measured in two plots in Central mountains in Spain. These data were georeferenced to obtain maps that can visualize the spatial variability of these forest variables. In order to evaluate the best interpolation method that could adequately explain the spatial variability of those variables, two interpolation methods were studied: inverse distance weighted (IDW) and Ordinary Kriging (OK). A comparison of results was made by means of statistical methods to analyze residuals. Results with the kriging method were slightly better.

Separability Analysis of Atlantic Forest Patches by Comparing Parametric and Non-Parametric Image Classification Algorithms

The aim of this work was to differentiate Atlantic Forest patches, as well as their spatial distribution, from other tree covers that compose the landscape, by comparing three methods of digital images classification, using techniques of geoprocessing and remote sensing. The study area was a sub-basin of the Iperó River, tributary of the Iperó-mirim stream, Sarapuí River basin, in Araçoiaba da Serra, State of São Paulo, Brazil. This research has been developed on a Geographic Information System environment platform, using medium resolution images from Sentinel-2 Satellite. Three image classification algorithms: maximum Likelihood Classification (mLC), Support Vector machines (SVm) and Random Tree (RT) were applied to verify the separability of forest patches, forestry and other uses. The results were analyzed by means of a confusion matrix, accuracy and kappa index, thus showing that the three algorithms were able to successfully differentiate the targets, with the higher efficiency attributed to mLC and the lowest to RT. Overall, the three classifiers presented errors, but specifically for the forest patches, the highest accuracy was obtained from SVm.

Evapotranspiration and water-use efficiency of irrigated colored cotton cultivar in semiarid regions

Irrigation studies provide a framework for evaluating agricultural production and the water resource management in locations where water is scarce. Field experiments were conducted at Barbalha- CE (northwestern Brazil) during 2004 and 2005 cropping seasons to investigate the effects of different irrigation water depths on the water-use efficiency and yield of the BRS 200-brown cotton cultivar (Gossypium hirsutum L.). Three irrigation treatments were applied: T1 = 80%;T2 = 100% and T3 = 120% of the potential evapotranspiration (ETp). The Bowen ratio-energy balance was used to obtain crop evapotrnaspiration (ETc) while daily reference evapo-transpiration (ETo) was obtained by the Penman-monteith approach. Irrigation water was applied by a sprinkler system during both cropping seasons. The daily evapotranspiration ranged from 2.59 mm·day-1 at the emergence to 5.89 mm·day-1 at first square growth stage with an accumulated value of 528.7 mm as a mean of the two cropping seasons. The average crop coefficient across both years (2004-2005) was 0.90, with minimum and maximum values of 0.46 and 1.17 at emergency and first flower growth stages, respectively. The results also showed that the increase in irrigation from 80% to 120% of ETp resulted in a significant increase in the seed-cotton yield (from 2476.0 to 3289.5 kg·ha-1), while lint percentage and water-use efficiency (WUE) were slightly reduced from 35.7% to 35.6% and from 0.60 to 0.53 kg·m-3, respectively. These results suggests that the cotton crop (cultivar BRS-200 brown) reaches higher water-use efficiency when irrigated with 80% of the crop evapotrnaspiration obtained as a function of the reference evapotranspiration and the crop coefficient proposed by FAO. However, the maximum seed-cotton yield is obtained when irrigated with 120% of that crop evapotranspiration.

A stable one-dimensional system in an orthorhombic α-V2O5 nanowires monocrystalline structure was obtained by a solvothermal method from a polymorphic V2O5 structure. The starting material was firstly submitted to acid hydrolysis in H2O2 followed by a solvothermal treatment. The outcome of this procedure, a metastable phase of the one-dimensional system V10O24·12H2O/V3O7·H2O, was subsequently reoxidized by controlled heating in an open air system. The final product was an orange crystalline solid mainly formed by monocrystalline nanowires of α-V2O5 having lengths of tens of micrometers and widths of about 75 nm with a preferential [200] growth direction. It was found that the pH value of the initial solution plays an important role in the formation of the crystalline phase in the final products. Characterization was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEm) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEm). This study offers an alternate route for the synthesis of vanadium oxides and related compounds.
