Performance Estimation of Machine Learning Algorithms in the Factor Analysis of COVId-19 dataset

Novel Coronavirus disease(COVId-19)is a communicable disease that originated during december 2019,when China officially informed the World Health Organization(WHO)regarding the constellation of cases of the disease in the city of ***,the disease started spreading to the rest of the *** this point in time,no specific vaccine or medicine is available for the prevention and cure of the *** research works are being carried out in the fields of medicinal and pharmaceutical sciences aided by data analytics and machine learning in the direction of treatment and early detection of this viral *** present report describes the use of machine learning algorithms[Linear and Logistic Regression,decision Tree(dT),K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and SVM with Grid Search]for the prediction and classification in relation to *** data used for experimentation was the COVId-19 dataset acquired from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering(CSSE),Johns Hopkins University(JHU).The assimilated results indicated that the risk period for the patients is 12–14 days,beyond which the probability of survival of the patient may *** addition,it was also indicated that the probability of death in COVId cases increases with *** death probability was found to be higher in males as compared to *** with Grid search methods demonstrated the highest accuracy of approximately 95%,followed by the decision tree algorithm with an accuracy of approximately 94%.The present study and analysis pave a way in the direction of attribute correlation,estimation of survival days,and the prediction of death *** findings of the present study clearly indicate that machine learning algorithms have strong capabilities of prediction and classification in relation to COVId-19 as well.

AIM： To assess whether portacaval anastomosis （PCA） in rats affects the protein expression and/or activity of glutaminase in kidneys, intestines and in three brain areas of cortex, basal ganglia and cerebellum and to explain the neurological alterations found in hepatic encephalopathy （HE）. METHOdS： Sixteen male Wistar rats weighing 250-350 g were grouped into sham-operation control （n=8） or portacaval shunt （n = 8）. Twenty-eight days after the procedure, the animals were sacrificed. The duodenum, kidney and brain were removed, homogenised and mitochondria were isolated. Ammonia was measured in brain and blood. Phosphate-activated glutaminase （PAG） activity was determined by measuring ammonia production following incubation for one hour at 37 ℃ with O-phthalaldehyde （OPA） and specific activity expressed in units per gram of protein （pkat/g of protein）. Protein expression was measured by immunoblotting. RESULTS： duodenal and kidney PAG activities together with protein content were significantly higher in PCA group than in control or sham-operated rats （duodenum PAG activity was 976.95±268.87μkat/g of protein in PCA rats vs 429.19±126.92.μkat/g of protein in shamoperated rats; kidneys PAG activity was 1259.18±228.79 μkat/g protein in PCA rats vs 669.67±400.8 μkat/g of protein in controls, P〈0.05; duodenal protein content： 173% in PCA vs sham-operated rats; in kidneys the content of protein was 152% in PCA vs sham-operated rats）. Home range variability and philopatry in Cinereous vultures(Aegypius monachus)breeding in Iberia

Large scavengers are strongly dependent on environmental conditions and carrion distribution and abundance,so season and breeding-related factors may influence the spatial ecology of species such as the Cinereous Vulture(Aegypius monachus),the largest European *** holds one of the biggest populations worldwide,but some aspects of the spatial ecology of the species in this region remain *** this study,17 adult Cinereous Vultures were GPS-tracked in order to study their spatial ecology during the adult *** average monthly home ranges(95%Kernel density Estimation,KdE)and core areas(50%KdE)were 6543±19,935 km^(2)and 1174±4004 km^(2),*** average monthly home range fidelity ranged between 50 and 73%.differences in movement-related variables between the seasonal periods(incubation,chick-rearing and non-breeding)were *** the chick-rearing period,the monthly accumulated distance was higher than during the other periods:3316±1108(chick-rearing)vs.1621±622(incubation)vs.1726±1159 km per month(nonbreeding).Additionally,large home range sizes were more frequent during the chick-rearing *** are two likely causes for these seasonal ***,chick-rearing entails a higher energetic expenditure by the parental individuals in foraging activities,so larger movements and foraging areas are expected during this ***,the flight is favoured during spring and summer due to environmental *** chick-rearing and warm months is a great evolutionary advantage for soaring-gliding raptors,as it allows them to cover larger areas with low energy ***,six individuals tagged as nestlings highlight the philopatric behaviour of the species:vultures settle their breeding areas 54±51 km from their natal nest(range=9–138 km).

Whole-rock geochemical, U-Pb and Sm-Nd isotope characteristics of the dongueni Mont nepheline syenite intrusion, Mozambique

The dongueni Mont nepheline syenite intrudes migmatitic paragneisses and siliciclastic metasediments of the Barue Complex, Mozambique. This study reports the whole-rock geochemical, U-Pb and Nd isotopic data of the nepheline syenite. The ferroan and alkalic geochemical characteristics are typical of alkaline rocks formed in a within-plate setting. The strong depletion in high field strength elements(HFSEs)(e.g. Ba, Nb, P,and Ti) and enrichment in large ion lithophile elements(LILEs)(e.g. Rb, Th, K, and Pb) are consistent with magmatism in a continental alkaline magmatic province associated with intracontinental rifting. Zircon U-Pb data yielded crystallization ages from 498 ± 19 to 562± 14 Ma,consistent with the Pan-African Orogeny and the inherited zircons yield an age of 1040 Ma, which supports the presence of a Mesoproterozoic crust. Theε_(Nd)(t) values from the nepheline syenite samples range from-15.1 to-16.1 and the T_(dM)values from 1.77 to 1.67 Ga, which indicate that the initial nepheline syenite magma formed from a tholeiitic or mantle source in a within-plate setting with crustal assimilation.

Contribution of altered signal transduction associated to glutamate receptors in brain to the neurological alterations of hepatic encephalopathy

Patients with liver disease may present hepatic enceph- alopathy (HE), a complex neuropsychiatric syndrome covering a wide range of neurological alterations, including cognitive and motor disturbances. HE reduces the quality of life of the patients and is associated with poor prognosis. In the worse cases HE may lead to coma or death. The mechanisms leading to HE which are not well known are being studied using animal models. The neurological alterations in HE are a consequence of impaired cerebral function mainly due to alterations in neurotransmission. We review here some studies indicating that alterations in neurotransmission associated to different types of glutamate receptors are responsible for some of the cognitive and motor alterations present in HE. These studies show that the function of the signal transduction pathway glutamate-nitric oxide-cGMP associated to the NMdA type of glutamate receptors is impaired in brain in vivo in HE animal models as well as in brain of patients died of HE. Activation of NMdA receptors in brain activates this pathway and increases cGMP. In animal models of HE this increase in cGMP induced by activation of NMdA receptors is reduced, which is responsible for the impairment in learning ability in these animal models. Increasing cGMP by pharmacological means restores learning ability in rats with HE and may be a new therapeutic approach to improve cognitive function in patients with HE. However, it is necessary to previously assess the possible secondary *** with HE may present psychomotor slowing, hypokinesia and bradykinesia. Animal models of HE also show hypolocomotion. It has been shown in rats with HE that hypolocomotion is due to excessive activation of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) in substantia nigra pars reticulata. Blocking mGluR1 in this brain area normalizes motor activity in the rats, suggesting that a similar treatment for patients with HE could be useful to treat psychomotor slowing and hy

do non-target species visit feeders and water troughs targeting small game?A study from farmland Spain using camera-trapping

Provision of food and water is a widespread tool implemented around the world for the benefit of game and other wildlife,but factors affecting the use of food and water by non-target species are poorly *** evaluated visits to feeders and water troughs by non-game species using camera-traps in two separate areas of *** and water troughs were either“protected”(when surrounded by more than 50%of shrubs/forest)or“open”(in the opposite case).A total of 18948 photos from 5344 camera-trapping days depicted animals,and 75 species were *** and water troughs were visited by target species(partridges and lagomorphs,55.3%of visits)and non-target species(44.7%of visits).Among the latter,corvids were themost common(46.1%of visits),followed by rodents(26.8%),other birds(23.6%,mainly passerines),columbids(1.9%),and other species at minor *** highest proportion of visiting days to feeders and water troughs was from corvids(0.173)followed by otherbirds(0.109)and rodents(0.083);the lowest proportion was recorded for columbids(0.016).Use intensity and visit frequency of water troughs tripled that recorded in feeders,and visits to open feeders/troughs were approximately twice those to protected *** summary:feeders and water troughs targeting small game species are also used regularly by non-target ones;they should be set close to cover to optimize their use by non-target species that are not competitors of target species(though corvids may visit them);water availability should be prioritized where drought periods are expected.

Role of 9-Lipoxygenase and α-dioxygenase Oxylipin Pathways as Modulators of Local and Systemic defense

Plant 9-1ipoxygenases （9-LOX） and α-dioxygenases （α-dOX） initiate the synthesis of oxylipins after bacterial infection. Here, the role of these enzymes in plants＇ defense was investigated using individual Arabidopsis thaliana Ioxl and doxl mutants and a double Ioxl doxl mutant. Studies with Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato （Pst） revealed the enhanced susceptibility of Ioxl to the virulent strain Pst dC3000 and the partial impairment of Ioxl and doxl mutants to activate systemic acquired resistance. Notably, both defects were enhanced in the Ioxl doxl plants as compared with individual mutants. We found that pre-treatment with 9-LOX- and α-dOX-generated oxylipins protected plant tissues against bacterial infection. The strongest effect in this respect was exerted by 9-ketooctadecatrienoic acid （9-KOT）, which is produced from linolenic acid by 9-LOX. Quantification of 9-KOT revealed its accumulation after bacterial infection. The levels were reduced in Ioxl and Ioxl doxl plants but strongly increased in the doxl mutant due to metabolic interaction of the two pathways. Transcriptional analyses indicated that 9-KOT pre-treatment modifies hormone homeostasis during bacterial infection. The nature of the changes detected suggested that 9-KOT interferes with the hormonal changes caused by bacterial effectors. This notion was substantiated by the finding that 9-KOT failed to reduce the growth of PstdC3OOOhrpA, a mutant compromised in effector secretion, and of the avirulent strain Pst dC3000 avrRpml. Further support for the action of the 9-LOX- and α-dOX-oxylipin pathways as modulators of hormone homeostasis was the ob- servation that Ioxl doxl seedlings are hypersensitive to the growth-inhibitory effect of ABA and showed enhanced ac- tivation of ABA-inducible marker genes as compared with wild-type plants.

The Study of Carbamoyl Phosphate Synthetase 1 deficiency Sheds Light on the Mechanism for Switching On/Off the Urea Cycle

Carbamoyl phosphate synthetase i （CPS1） deficiency （CPS1d） is an inborn error of the urea cycle having autosomal （2q34） recessive inheritance that can cause hyperammonemia and neonatal death or mental retardation. We analyzed the effects on CPS1 activity, kinetic parameters and enzyme stability of missense mutations reported in patients with CPS1 deficiency that map in the 20-kda C-terminal domain of the enzyme. This domain turns on or off the enzyme depending on whether the essential allosteric activator of CPS 1, N-acetyl- L-glutamate （NAG）, is bound or is not bound to it. To carry out the present studies, we exploited a novel system that allows the expression in vitro and the purification of human CPS1, thus permitting site-directed mutagenesis. These studies have clarified disease causation by individual mutations, identifying functionally important residues, and revealing that a number of mutations decrease the affinity of the enzyme for NAG. Patients with NAG affinity-decreasing mutations might benefit from NAG site saturation therapy with N-carbamyl-L- glutamate （a registered drug, the analog of NAG）. Our results, together with additional present and prior site-directed mutagenesis data for other residues mapping in this domain, suggest an NAG-triggered conformational change in the 134-~4 loop of the C-terminal domain of this enzyme. This change might be an early event in the NAG activation process. Molecular dynamics simulations that were restrained according to the observed effects of the mutations are consistent with this hypothesis, providing further backing for this structurally plausible signaling mechanism by which NAG could trigger urea cycle activation via CPS1.
