In the last few years,feed additives have been used in animal nutrition to improve nutrient utilization,health parameters and animal ***,the use of antibiotics as feed additives has allowed the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance(AMR),which can bring as a consequence,an increase in the morbidity and mortality of diseases that were previously treatable with *** this context,antimicrobial peptides(AMP)have appeared as a promising strategy because they have multiple bio-logical activities and represent a powerful strategy to prevent the development of resistant *** the small number of studies applied in vivo,AMP appear as a potent alternative to the use of antibiotics in animal nutrition,due to an increase in feed efficiency and the prevention/treatment of some animal *** review discusses the problems associated with antimicrobial resistance and the use of AMP as a strong candidate to replace conventional antibiotics,mainly in the animal industry.

The conditions used for friction stir welding of duplex stainless steels determine the resulting mechanical and corrosion performance of the *** study investigates the corrosion resistance of UNS S32750 and S32760 superduplex stainless steels(SDSSs)joined by friction stir welding,employing cyclic polarization,Mott–Schottky,and microscopy techniques for *** microscopy images indicated the presence of a deleterious intermetallic phase after electrolytic etching of S32760,as well as decreased corrosion *** presence of molybdenum in the steels promoted better passive behavior at low *** Mott–Schottky curves revealed p-n heterojunction behavior of the passive *** acquired after the polarization test by scanning electron microscopy showed higher passivation propensity with increases of temperature and pH.

Direct soil temperature(ST)measurement is time-consuming and costly;thus,the use of simple and cost-effective machine learning(ML)tools is *** this study,ML approaches,including KStar,instance-based K-nearest learning(IBK),and locally weighted learning(LWL),coupled with resampling algorithms of bagging(BA)and dagging(DA)(BA-IBK,BA-KStar,BA-LWL,DA-IBK,DA-KStar,and DA-LWL)were developed and tested for multi-step ahead(3,6,and 9 d ahead)ST *** addition,a linear regression(LR)model was used as a benchmark to evaluate the results.A dataset was established,with daily ST time-series at 5 and 50 cm soil depths in a farmland as models’output and meteorological data as models’input,including mean(T_(mean)),minimum(Tmin),and maximum(T_(max))air temperatures,evaporation(Eva),sunshine hours(SSH),and solar radiation(SR),which were collected at Isfahan Synoptic Station(Iran)for 13 years(1992–2005).Six different input combination scenarios were selected based on Pearson’s correlation coefficients between inputs and outputs and fed into the *** used 70%of the data to train the models,with the remaining 30%used for model evaluation via multiple visual and quantitative ***?ndings showed that T_(mean)was the most effective input variable for ST forecasting in most of the developed models,while in some cases the combinations of variables,including T_(mean)and T_(max)and T_(mean),T_(max),Tmin,Eva,and SSH proved to be the best input *** the evaluated models,BA-KStar showed greater compatibility,while in most cases,BA-IBK and-LWL provided more accurate results,depending on soil *** the 5 cm soil depth,BA-KStar had superior performance(i.e.,Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE)=0.90,0.87,and 0.85 for 3,6,and 9 d ahead forecasting,respectively);for the 50 cm soil depth,DA-KStar outperformed the other models(i.e.,NSE=0.88,0.89,and 0.89 for 3,6,and 9 d ahead forecasting,respectively).The results con?rmed that all hybrid models had higher prediction

Purpose:Building upon pioneering work by francis Narin and others,a new methodological approach to assessing the technological impact of scientific research is ***/methodology/approach:It is based on the analysis of citations made in patent families included in the PATSTAT database that is to scientific papers indexed in ***:An advanced citation matching procedure is applied to the data in order to construct two indicators of technological impact:on the citing(patent)side,the country/region in which protection is sought and a patent family’s propensity to cite scientific papers are taken into account,and on the cited(paper)side,a relative citation rate is defined for patent citations to papers that is similar to the scientific paper-to-paper citation rate in classical *** limitations:The results are limited by the available data,in our case Scopus and PATSTAT,and especially by the lack of standardization of references in *** required a matching procedure that is neither trivial nor *** implications:Results at the country/region,document type,and publication age levels are *** country/region-level results in particular reveal features that have remained hidden in analyses of straight *** notable is that the rankings of some Asian countries/regions move upwards when the proposed normalized indicator of technological impact is applied as against the case with straight counts of patent citations to those countries/regions’published ***/value:In our opinion,the level of sophistication of the indicators proposed in the current paper is unparalleled in the scientific literature,and provides a solid basis for the assessment of the technological impact of scientific research in countries/regions and institutions.

Phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry(CDOTDR)is a well-established technique that provides spatiotemporal measurements of an environmental variable in real *** unique capability is being leveraged in an everincreasing number of applications,from energy transportation or civil security to *** date,a wide number of different approaches have been implemented,providing a plethora of options in terms of performance(resolution,acquisition bandwidth,sensitivity or range).However,to achieve high spatial resolutions,detection bandwidths in the GHz range are typically required,substantially increasing the system cost and ***,we present a novel OOTDR approach that allows a customized time expansion of the received optical ***,the presented technique reaches cm-scale spatial resolutions over t km while requiring a remarkably low detection bandwidth in the MHz *** approach relies on the use of dual-comb spectrometry to interrogate the fibre and sample the backscattered *** phase-spectral coding is applied to the employed combs to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio of the sensing scheme.A comparison of the proposed method with alternative approaches aimed at similar operation features is provided,along with a thorough analysis of the new *** results demonstrate a radically novel high-resolution OOTDR scheme,which could promote new applications in metrology,borehole monitoring or aerospace.

Dear Editor,Breast cancer(BC)is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fifth cause of cancer-related death worldwide[1].Despite the advances in BC targeted therapies,cytotoxic chemotherapy is still widely used[2].However,around 20%-30%of BC patients develop metastasis after treatment as a consequence of drug resistance[3].In this context,microRNAs have emerged as potential therapeutic targets to overcome therapy resistance[4].Therefore,we aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to doxorubicin,one of the most effective chemotherapeutic agents used in *** are detailed in Supplementary Materials.

Vocal divergence within species often corresponds to morphological, environmental, and genetic differences between populations. Wolf howls are long-range signals that encode individual, group, and subspecies differences, yet the factors that may drive this variation are poorly understood. furthermore, the taxonomic division within the genus remains contended and additional data are required to clarify the position of the Himalayan, North African, and Indian wolves within . We recorded 451 howls from the 3 most basal wolf lineages-Himalayan -Himalayan haplotype, North African , and Indian wolves-and present a howl acoustic description within each clade. With an additional 619 howls from 7 Holarctic subspecies, we used a random forest classifier and principal component analysis on 9 acoustic parameters to assess whether Himalayan, North African, and Indian wolf howls exhibit acoustic differences compared to each other and Holarctic wolf howls. Generally, both the North African and Indian wolf howls exhibited high mean fundamental frequency (f0) and short duration compared to the Holarctic clade. In contrast, the Himalayan wolf howls typically had lower mean f0, unmodulated frequencies, and short howls compared to Holarctic wolf howls. The Himalayan and North African wolves had the most acoustically distinct howls and differed significantly from each other and to the Holarctic wolves. Along with the influence of body size and environmental differences, these results suggest that genetic divergence and/or geographic distance may play an important role in understanding howl variation across subspecies.

With the expansion of eucalyptus crops to areas with severe water limitations,physiological studies involving eucalyptus clones to identify those that are tolerant to water stress become *** objective of this study was to assess morphological and physiological responses by eucalyptus clones subjected to drought stress and *** experiment consisted of three eucalyptus clones:VC865,I224 and I144 and two water regimes:control and water stress followed by rehydration,with six *** water potential,gas exchange,maximum quantum efficiency of photo systemⅡand plant height and stem diameter were evaluated under drought stress and ***6 d of rehydration,the number of leaves,leaf area and dry mass of root,leaf,stem and their total were *** clones showed intense reduction of gas exchange during the drought stress period,and only VC865 and 1144 showed rapid recovery with 3 d of *** 1224 showed greater reduction in height,stem diameter,number of leaves,water potential at midday(Ψ_(w)_(Midday)),and maximum quantum efficiency of photosystemⅡ(f_(v)/f_(m)).Clones VC865and T144 showed lower reductions inΨ_(wMidday)and f_(v)/f_(m) under ***865 had lower reductions in leaf number,leaf area and higher leaf dry mass,while clone I144 had higher height and lower reduction in root dry mass *** these clones showed higher water use efficiency with 3d of *** different phenotypic plasticities gave the clones VC865 and 1144 efficient mechanisms of acclimatization to stress and more drought tolerance,enhancing their greater capacity for recovery after stress,which allowed lower dry mass *** 1224,however,was more susceptible to drought stress,undergoing greater physiological damage with only partial recovery during rehydration.
