Inoc.lation with Phosphate-Solubilizing Fungi Diversifies the Bac.erial c.mmunity in Rhizospheres of Maize and Soybean

Applic.tion of phosphate-solubilizing mic.oorganisms (PSMs) has been reported to inc.ease P uptake and plant growth. However, no information is available regarding the ec.logic.l c.nsequenc.s of the inoc.lation with PSMs. The effec. of inoc.lation with phosphate-solubilizing fungal (PSF) isolates Aspergillus niger P39 and Penic.llium oxalic.m P66 on the bac.erial c.mmunities in the rhizospheres of maize (Zea mays L. 'Haiyu 6') and soybean (Glyc.ne max Merr. 'Heinong 35') was examined using c.lture-dependent methods as well as a c.lture-independent method, polymerase c.ain reac.ion-denaturing gradient gel elec.rophoresis (Pc.-DGGE). c.mpared with the c.ntrol, the number of c.lturable mic.obes for soybean was signific.ntly greater with P39, whereas for maize, the same was signific.ntly greater with P66. In addition, a greater number of mic.obes were found in the rhizosphere of maize c.mpared with soybean. The fingerprint of DGGE for 16S rDNA indic.ted that inoc.lation with PSF also inc.eased bac.erial c.mmunities, with the P66 treatment having higher numbers of DGGE bands and a higher Shannon-Weaver diversity index c.mpared with P39; the c.mposition of the mic.obial c.mmunity was also more c.mplex with the P66 treatment. Overall, c.mplex interac.ions between plant spec.es and exotic.PSMs affec.ed the struc.ure of the bac.erial c.mmunity in the rhizosphere, but plant spec.es were more important in determining the bac.erial c.mmunity struc.ure than the introduc.ion of exotic.mic.oorganisms.

High-quality and large-sc.le growth of monolayer molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)has c.ught intensive attention bec.use of its potential in many applic.tions due to unique elec.ronic.***,we report the wafer-sc.le growth of high-quality mono layer MoS2 on singlec.ystalline sapphire and also on SiO2 substrates by a fac.le metal-organic.c.emic.l vapor deposit!on(MOc.D)*** to growth,an aqueous solution of sodium molybdate(Na2MoO4)is spun onto the substrates as the molybdenum prec.rsor and diethyl sulfide((c.H5)2S)is used as the sulfur prec.rsor duri ng the *** grown MoS2 films exhibit c.ystal I i nity,good elec.ric.l performa nee(elec.ro n mobility of 22 c.2·V^-1·s^-1)and struc.ural c.ntinuity maintained over the entire *** sapphire substrates are reusable for subsequent *** same method is applied for the synthesis of tungsten disulfide(WS2).Our work provides a fac.le,reproduc.ble and c.st-effic.ent method for the sc.lable fabric.ti on of high-quality mono layer MoS2 for versatile applic.ti ons,suc. as elec.ro nic.and optoelec.r onic.devices as well as the membranes for desalination and power generation.

Impac. of Long-Term Fertilization on Phosphorus Status in Blac. Soil

A twelve-year field trial was c.rried out to determine the impac. of long-term fertilization on phosphorus (P) distribu- tion in the soil profile, P balanc., and the transformation and availability of soil P in a blac. soil (Phaeozem, FAO). Under a wheat-soybean-c.rn rotation, during twelve years where no fertilizer was applied, c.ops removed 60 and 81 mg P kg-1 soil in the c.ntrol and NK treatment, respec.ively. About one third of the P absorbed by c.ops was originated from organic.P. c.2-P, c.g-P, Al-P and Fe-P were the main forms of inorganic.P absorbed by c.ops. The surplus P from fertilization remained in the 0-20 c. soil layer and inc.eased with the applic.tion rate of P. The c.mbined applic.tion of NP or NPK inc.eased available P to a lesser extent than the c.mbined applic.tion of PK. Fertilizer P had mainly transformed to the Al-P, Fe-P, c.2-P, and c.s-P forms. By using the P budget (X), c.anges in total P (Y1) and available P (Y2) in soils under the c.rrent c.opping system c.uld be predic.ed by the equations: Y1 = 0.02 + 1.01X and Y2 = 2.08 + 0.15X.

Laboratory and field testing of bolting systems subjec.ed to highly c.rrosive environments

The c.pac.ty of ground support c.mponents whic. have been affec.ed by c.rrosion is reduc.d and may ultimately lead to dynamic.failure of the c.mponent and the strata. In order to maintain an effec.ive,long-term ground support system, signific.nt c.mpaigns of rehabilitation are often required in c.rrosion affec.ed areas whic. also expose the workers to hazardous c.nditions. The most c.mmon c.rrosion protec.ion for steel ground support utilises sac.ific.al systems suc. as galvanising. Galvanising has previously been proven to be susc.ptible to some c.rrosion proc.sses. Stainless steel is the most effec.ive in resistanc. to c.rrosion, but c.n be c.st prohibitive, and its mec.anic.l properties often make it unsuited to use in ground support c.mponents. Providing an outer protec.ive plastic.c.ating to bolts has proven to be an effec.ive means of protec.ing the inner steel bar from c.rrosion. However, these support systems tend to be susc.ptible to c.ating damage, and require post c.ment grouting to provide full enc.psulation. In c.mparison to a standard bolt/resin system, they c.n be slow to install and *** systems have also been shown to reduc. overall load transfer performanc. of the bolting system. In order to provide a higher level of c.rrosion protec.ion whilst maintaining c.rrent installation prac.ic.s and bolting c.c.e times, Minova has developed the Enduro^(TM)steel ground support range. The Enduro^(TM) range c.nsists of standard Minova steel ground support c.mponents whic. have been treated with a unique c.ating proc.ss. The Enduro^(TM)c.ating has been tested in the harshest of c.nditions, in laboratory c.ntrolled c.nditions and in underground trials. It has been proven to effec.ively resist or c.mpletely eliminate the formation of c.rrosion, even in the most aggressive environments. This paper explains the proc.ss and provides the details of the laboratory and underground c.rrosion performanc. testing c.rried out on Enduro^(TM)ground support produc.

Effec. of single dead end entry inc.ination on DPM plume dispersion

Diesel partic.late matter(DPM) is a by-produc. from operating diesel engines. Sinc. diesel powers are one of the major sourc.s of energy for mobile underground mining equipment, the adverse health effec.s of DPM are of a great c.nc.rn. This paper used c.mputational fluid dynamic.(c.D) method to study the effec. of entry inc.ination on DPM plume distribution in a dead end entry. An upward mining fac. and a downward mining fac. were built with a truc. and a loader in loading operation c.ose to the fac. area. A spec.es transport model with inc.rporated buoyanc. effec. was used to examine the DPM dispersion pattern for the above steady-state sc.narios. High DPM and temperature regions were identified for the two different fac.s. The model was used to assess the role of auxiliary ventilation in reduc.ng DPM exposures of underground miners working in those entries. In this study, it is suggested to provide loc.l ventilation at least three times of the diesel exhaust rate to be able to lower the average DPM level for the mining upward fac.. The requirement for loc.l ventilation is muc. less for the mining downward fac.. This c.n provide guidelines for good working prac.ic.s and selec.ion of diesel emission reduc.ion tec.nologies underground.

Salt Dynamic. in Rhizosphere of Puc.inellia c.liata Bor. in a Loamy Soil

A glasshouse experiment using a rhizobox tec.nique was c.nduc.ed to examine salt dynamic. in the rhizosphere of a salt-tolerant grass, Puc.inellia c.liata Bor. ’Irwin Hunter’, grown in a loamy soil, and to study the effec. of rainfall flush on salt ac.umulation in the rhizosphere. The rhizobox (10 × 5.5 × 50 c.) had a nylon mesh (1 μm) positioned vertic.lly in the middle to c.eate two c.mpartments filled with soil amended with 1 g Nac. kg-1. The plants were grown in one c.mpartment only. Flushed treatments rec.ived 275 mL of deionized water two days before harvest. In the plant-growing c.mpartment, soils were sec.ioned vertic.lly at 5 c. intervals. Signific.nt differenc.s in soil elec.ric.l c.nduc.ivity (Ec. (P c.mpartment (rhizosphere), soil c.res were taken horizontally at depths of 5, 20 and 40 c. and slic.d at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20 mm away from the roots. Soil Ec.and c.- c.nc.ntration at the 5 and 20 c. depths, and Na+ c.nc.ntration at the 5 c. depth signific.ntly dec.eased (P c. away from the root, but no signific.nt differenc.s were observed in soil pH and c.nc.ntrations of the K+ and c.2+. The flush treatment only had signific.nt influenc. on soil Ec. pH, and c.- c.nc.ntration at the 20 c. depth. Thus, salt ac.umulation c.uld oc.ur in the rhizosphere of salt-tolerant spec.es on saline soils, and the periodic.low rainfall might not have a strong influenc. on salt distribution in the rhizosphere and/or root zone.

DPM dispersion inside a single straight entry using dynamic.mesh model

Three-dimensional simulations of diesel partic.late matter （DPM） distribution inside a single straight entry for the Load-Haul-Dump loader （LHD）-truc. loading and truc. hauling operations were c.nduc.ed by using ANSYS FLUENT c.mputational fluid dynamic. software. The loading operation was performed for a fixed period of 3 min. The dynamic.mesh tec.nique in FLUENT was used to study the impac. of truc. motion on DPM distribution. The resultant DPM distributions are presented for the c.ses when the truc. were driving upstream and downstream of the loading fac.. Interesting phenomena were revealed in the study inc.uding the piston effec., layering of DPM in the roof region, and bac.flow of diesel exhaust against ventilation. The results from the simulation c.n be used to determine if the areas inside the fac. area and straight entry exc.ed the c.rrent U.S. regulatory requirement for DPM c.nc.ntration （〉160 pg/m3）. This researc. c.n guide the selec.ion of DPM reduc.ion strategies and improve the working prac.ic.s for the underground miners.
