Nanoscale plasma-activated aerosol generation for in situ surface pathogen disinfection

Plasma treatment constitutes an efficient method for chemical-free disinfection.A spray-based system for dispensing plasma-activated aerosols onto surfaces would facilitate disinfection of complex and/or hidden surfaces inaccessible to direct line-of-sight(for example,UV)*** complexity and size of current plasma generators(for example,plasma jet and cometary plasma systems)-which prohibit portable operation,together with the short plasma lifetimes,necessitate a miniaturized in situ technique in which a source can be simultaneously activated and administered on-demand onto ***,we demonstrate this possibility by combining two nanoscale technologies for plasma and aerosol generation into an integrated device that is sufficiently small and *** is generated on a carpet of zinc oxide nanorods comprising a nanoneedle ensemble,which when raised to a high electric potential,constitutes a massive point charge array with near-singular electric fields to effect atmospheric *** plasma is then used to activate water transported through an underlying capillary wick,that is subsequently aerosolized under MHz-order surface acoustic *** show that the system,besides being amenable to miniaturization and hence integration into a chipscale device,leads to a considerable improvement in plasma-activation over its macroscale cometary discharge predecessor,with up to 20%and 127%higher hydrogen peroxide and nitrite ion concentrations that are respectively generated in the plasma-activated ***,in turn,leads to a 67%reduction in the disinfection time to achieve 95%bacterial load reduction,therefore demonstrating the potential of the technology as an efficient portable platform for on-demand field-use surface disinfection.

we propose an end-to-end dehazing model based on deep learning(CNN network)and uses the dehazing model re-proposed by AOD-Net based on the atmospheric scattering model for *** to the previously proposed dehazing network,the dehazing model proposed in this paper make use of the FPN network structure in the field of target detection,and uses five feature maps of different sizes to better obtain features of different proportions and different sub-regions.A large amount of experimental data proves that the dehazing model proposed in this paper is superior to previous dehazing technologies in terms of PSNR,SSIM,and subjective visual *** addition,it achieved a good performance in speed by using EfficientNet B0 as a feature *** find that only using high-level semantic features can not effectively obtain all the information in the *** FPN structure used in this paper can effectively integrate the high-level semantics and the low-level semantics,and can better take into account the global and local *** five feature maps with different sizes are not simply weighted and *** order to keep all their information,we put them all together and get the final features through decode *** the same time,we have done a comparative experiment between ResNet with FPN and EfficientNet with *** is proved that EfficientNet with BiFPN can obtain image features more ***,EfficientNet with BiFPN is chosen as our network feature extraction.

Impact of Methanol Photomediated Surface Defects on Photocatalytic H2 Production Over Pt/TiO2

Co-catalysts play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency of inorganic semiconductor photocatalysts;however,synthetic approaches to tailoring cocatalyst properties are rarely the focus of research efforts.A photomediated route to control the dispersion and oxidation state of a platinum(Pt)cocatalyst through defect generation in the P25 titania photocatalyst substrate is *** photoirradiation in the presence of methanol induces longlived surface defects which subsequently promote the photodeposition of highly dispersed(2.2±0.8 nm)and heavily reduced Pt nanoparticles on exposure to H2 *** optimal methanol concentration of 20 vol%produces the highest density of metallic Pt *** activity for water splitting and associated hydrogen(H2)production under UV irradiation mirrors the methanol concentration employed during the P25 photoirradiation pretreatment and resulting Pt loading resulting in a common mass-normalized H2 productivity of 3800±130 mmol gpt-1 *** surface defects(arising in the presence of a methanol hole scavenger)provide electron traps that regulate subsequent photodeposition of a Pt co-catalyst over P25,offering a facile route to tune photocatalytic efficiency.

An Approach for Radar Quantitative Precipitation Estimation Based on Spatiotemporal Network

Radar quantitative precipitation estimation(QPE)is a key and challenging task for many designs and applications with meteorological *** the Z-R relation between radar and rain has a number of parameters on different areas,and the rainfall varies with seasons,the traditional methods are incapable of achieving high spatial and temporal resolution and thus difficult to obtain a refined rainfall *** paper proposes a radar quantitative precipitation estimation algorithm based on the spatiotemporal network model(ST-QPE),which designs a convolutional time-series network QPE-Net8 and a multi-scale feature fusion time-series network QPE-Net22 to address these *** report on our investigation into contrast reversal experiments with radar echo and rainfall data collected by the Hunan Meteorological *** results are verified and analyzed by using statistical and meteorological methods,and show that the ST-QPE model can inverse the rainfall information corresponding to the radar echo at a given moment,which provides practical guidance for accurate short-range precipitation nowcasting to prevent and mitigate disasters efficiently.

Framework for atomic-level characterisation of quantum computer arrays by machine learning

Atomic-level qubits in silicon are attractive candidates for large-scale quantum computing;however,their quantum properties and controllability are sensitive to details such as the number of donor atoms comprising a qubit and their precise *** work combines machine learning techniques with million-atom simulations of scanning tunnelling microscopic(STM)images of dopants to formulate a theoretical framework capable of determining the number of dopants at a particular qubit location and their positions with exact lattice site precision.A convolutional neural network(CNN)was trained on 100,000 simulated STM images,acquiring a characterisation fidelity(number and absolute donor positions)of>98% over a set of 17,600 test images including planar and blurring noise commensurate with experimental *** formalism is based on a systematic symmetry analysis and feature-detection processing of the STM images to optimise the computational *** technique is demonstrated for qubits formed by single and pairs of closely spaced donor atoms,with the potential to generalise it for larger donor *** method established here will enable a high-precision post-fabrication characterisation of dopant qubits in silicon,with high-throughput potentially alleviating the requirements on the level of resources required for quantum-based characterisation,which will otherwise be a challenge in the context of large qubit arrays for universal quantum computing.

Prostate magnetic resonance imaging and the value of experience:An intrareader variability study

Objective To measure the intraobserver concordance of an experienced genitourinary radiologist reporting of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate(mpMRIp)scans over *** An experienced genitourinary radiologist re-reported his original 100 consecutive mpMRIp scans using Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System version 2(PI-RADS v2)after 5 years of further experience comprising>1000 *** agreement was measured using Cohen's ***,specificity,negative predictive value(NPV),positive predictive value(PPV),and accuracy were calculated,and comparison of sensitivity was performed using McNemar's *** Ninety-six mpMRIp scans were included in our final *** the 96 patients,53(55.2%)patients underwent subsequent biopsy(n=43)or prostatectomy(n=15),with 73 lesions *** agreement(Cohen's kappa 0.55)was seen in the number of lesions identified at initial reporting and on re-reading(81 vs.39 total lesions;and 71 vs.37 number of PI-RADS≥3 lesions).For clinically significant prostate cancer,re-reading demonstrated an increase in specificity(from 43%to 89%)and PPV(from 62%to 87%),but a decrease in sensitivity(from 94%to 72%,p=0.01)and NPV(from 89%to 77%).Conclusion The intraobserver agreement for a novice to experienced radiologist reporting mpMRIp using PI-RADS v2 is *** sensitivity is off-set by improved specificity and PPV,which validate mpMRIp as a gold standard for prebiopsy screening.
