Placido disk-based topography versus high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera for corneal power measurements in keratoconic and post-LASIK eyes：reliability and agreement

AIM：To compare the repeatability/reproducibility of measurement by high-resolution Placido disk-based topography with that of a high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera and assess the agreement between the two instruments in measuring corneal power in eyes with keratoconus and post-laser in situ keratomileusis（LASIK）. METHODS：One eye each of 36 keratoconic patients and 20 subjects who had undergone LASIK was included in this prospective observational study. Two independent examiners worked in a random order to take three measurements of each eye with both instruments. Four parameters were measured on the anterior cornea：steep keratometry（Ks）,flat keratometry（Kf）,mean keratometry（Km）,and astigmatism（Ks-Kf）. Intra-examiner repeatability and inter-examiner reproducibility were evaluated by calculating the within-subject standard deviation（Sw）the coefficient of repeatability（R）,the coefficient of variation（Co V）,and the intraclass correlation coefficient（ICC）. Agreement between instruments was tested with the BlandAltman method by calculating the 95% limits of agreement（95% Lo A）.RESULTS：In keratoconic eyes,the intra-examiner and inter-examiner ICC were 〉0.95. As compared with measurement by high-resolution Placido disk-based topography,the intra-examiner R of the high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera was lower for Kf（0.32 vs 0.88）,Ks（0.61 vs 0.88）,and Km（0.32 vs 0.84）but higher for Ks-Kf（0.70 vs 0.57）. Inter-examiner R values were lower for all parameters measured using the high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera. The 95% Lo A were-1.28 to ＋0.55 for Kf,-1.36 to ＋0.99 for Ks,-1.08 to ＋0.50 for Km,and-1.11 to ＋1.48 for Ks-Kf. In the post-LASIK eyes,the intra-examiner andinter-examiner ICC were 〉0.87 for all parameters. The intra-examiner and inter-examiner R were lower for all parameters measured using the high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera. Moment Redistribution Effect of the Continuous Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer-Concrete Composite Slabs Based on Static Loading Experiment

This study aimed to investigate the moment redistribution in continuous glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)-concrete composite slabs caused by concrete cracking and steel bar yielding in the negative bending moment *** experimental bending moment redistribution test was conducted on continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs,and a calculation method based on the conjugate beam method was *** composite slabs were formed by combining GFRP profiles with a concrete layer and supported on steel beams to create two-span continuous composite slab *** methods,epoxy resin bonding,and stud connection,were used to connect the composite slabs with the steel *** experimental findings showed that the specimen connected with epoxy resin exhibited two moments redistribution phenomena during the loading process:concrete cracking and steel bar yielding at the internal *** contrast,the composite slab connected with steel beams by studs exhibited only one-moment redistribution phenomenon throughout the loading *** the concrete at the internal support cracked,the bending moment decreased in the internal support section and increased in the midspan *** the steel bars yielded,the bending moment further decreased in the internal support section and increased in the mid-span *** GFRP profiles do not experience cracking,there was no significant decrease in the bending moment of the mid-span *** test specimens experienced compressive failure of concrete at the mid-span *** results showed good agreement between the calculated and experimental values of bending moments in the mid-span section and internal support *** proposed model can effectively predict the moment redistribution behavior of continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs.

Light-triggered release of active ingredients from polymeric nanosized capsules can be employed in a wide range of applications, such as biomedicine, active packaging, and cosmetics. However, the preparation of core-shell polymeric nanocarriers typically involves the use of toxic organic solvents. To improve the sustainability and safety of nanocapsule applications, we demonstrate that natural essential oils can be used both as solvent and active material in light-responsive nanocapsules synthesized via miniemulsion polycondensation. The documented antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activity of essential oils enables the design of multipurpose light-responsive delivery platforms. The photo-responsive behavior of the capsules, achieved by means of photochromic azobenzene segments embedded in the capsule shell, is triggered by UV light irradiation （λmax= 360 nm）. Light-induced release kinetics of the essential oils and a fluorescent probe molecule, coumarin-6, is evaluated via UV-vis spectroscopy and spectrofluorimetry, respectively, demonstrating the efficiency and reliability of the release mechanism. Biological tests prove that the capsules are non-cytotoxic and readily internalized by cells, indicating the suitability of these smart nanocarriers for biological applications.

In the last years,axonal conductance of action potential trains became a novel subject of study,changing the view of axons,from a static cable-like compartment to a more complex and dynamic system(debanne et al.,2011).Axonal computation,indeed,is canonically constituted by the action of voltage-gated ion channels,such as the classic Na+and K+channels,but recent studies demonstrated that it can be modulated by the action of other ion channel pumps,and metabolic factors(Byczkowicz et al.,2019;Zang and Marder.
