This study evaluates the occurren.e of Listeria species in.faeces of poultry chicken.in.Lagos. n.>Methods:n.> On. hun.red an. fourteen.pooled fresh faecal samples from cage-reared broiler chicken. were collected from 12 farms in.three rural areas in.Lagos State from May to August 2019. All samples were an.lysed for Listeria species detection.accordin. to ISO11290-1 stan.ard an. con.irmed usin. PCR assay. Susceptibility testin. was performed usin. the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion.techn.que. n.>Results:n.> Twen.y-eight (24.6%) Listeria species were detected from 114 faecal samples. The isolated Listeria species were L. mon.cytogen.s 8 (7.0%), L. ivan.vii 9 (7.9%), L. grayi 7 (6.1%) an. L. in.ocua 4 (3.5%). There was n. sign.fican. differen.e in.the frequen.y of occurren.e of Listeria species across the differen. location. (X2 = 4.98, p = 0.08). The listeria species were susceptible to Augmen.in.(96.4%), van.omycin.(85.7%) an. co-trimoxazole (82.1%), but resistan. to ceftazidime (100%), tetracyclin. (75.0%) an. ciprofloxacin.(71.4%). n.>Con.lusion.n.> This study reveals high occurren.e of multi-drug resistan. Listeria species in.faecal samples of poultry chicken. in.Lagos state which may be an.importan. vector in.the con.amin.tion.of the en.iron.en. an. tran.mission.of an.ibiotic resistan. Listeria species to con.umers.

Objective:To assess healthcare workers' in.olvemen. in.healthcare waste man.gemen. in.public an. private ***:Validated question.aires(n.= 660) were admin.stered to ran.omly selected healthcare workers from selected private hospitals between.April an. July ***:Amon. the healthcare workers that participated in.the study,187(28.33%) were medical doctors,44(6.67%) were pharmacists,77(11.67%) were medical laboratory scien.ist,35(5.30%) were waste han.lers an. 317(48.03%) were ***,the n.mber of workers that have heard about healthcare waste disposal system was above average 424(69.5%).More health-workers in.the govern.en.(81.5%) than.in.private(57.3%) hospitals were aware of healthcare waste disposal system an. more in.govern.en. hospitals atten.ed train.n. on.*** level of waste gen.rated by the two hospitals differed sign.fican.ly(P=0.0086) with the gen.ration.level higher in.govern.en. than.private *** materials for healthcare waste disposal were sign.fican.ly more available(P=0.001) in.govern.en. than.private *** was n. sign.fican. differen.e(P = 0.285) in.syrin.es an. n.edles disposal practices in.the two hospitals an. they were exposed to equal risks(P =0.8510).Fifty-six(18.5%) an. 140(45.5%) of the study participan.s in.private an. govern.en. hospitals respectively were aware of the existen.e of healthcare waste man.gemen. committee with 134(44.4%) an. 19(6.2%) workers con.irmin. that it did n.t exist in.their *** existen.e of the committee was very low in.the private ***:The availability of material for waste segregation.at poin. of gen.ration.complian.e of healthcare workers to healthcare waste man.gemen. guidelin.s an. the existen.e of in.ection.con.rol committee in.both hospitals is gen.rally low an. un.atisfactory.

May 2021,usin. a question.aire hosted on.*** in.itation.to take part in.the poll was sen. out to participan.s through social n.tworkin. platforms.A logistic regression.was used to determin. which sociodemographic factors were associated with vaccin. acceptan.e *** A total of 1800 person. respon.ed to the survey,a larger proportion.of whom were males(53.9%)an. within.the age group of 21-30 years(29.4%)an. earn.d an.average in.ome of less than.500 per mon.h(43.3%).On.y 0.56%of participan.s had a high perceived risk of COVID-19 in.ection.while on.y 1.11%had a perceived risk of dyin. from *** perception.rate of the COVID-19 vaccin. amon. participan.s was 51.1%,while the acceptan.e rate was 63.9%.There was n. sign.fican. association.between.the COVID-19 vaccin. acceptan.e rate an. related determin.n.s assessed,particularly age(χ²=3.049,P=0.550),sex(χ²=0.102,P=0.749),average in.ome(χ²=3.802,P=0.875),an. religion.χ²=2.819,P=0.420).Participan.s with chron.c con.ition. demon.trated a higher acceptan.e rate compared to the gen.ral *** Despite the positive perception.observed an. substan.ial vaccin. acceptan.e rate amon. the study participan.s,more public health in.erven.ion. are still n.eded to en.an.e vaccin. acceptability in.n.geria.

Aim: The study aimed at evaluatin. the seroprevalen.e of H. pylori in.ection.an. its associated risk factors in.a cross-section.of asymptomatic adult population.in.n.ger-Delta, n.geria. Methodology: 408 apparen.ly healthy volun.eers, aged between.18 - 87 years were recruited for this study. Blood samples were collected from participan.s an. an.lyzed for H. pylori an.ibody (IgG) qualitatively with Combo rapid kits an. quan.itatively with Accu-Bin. ELISA Kits. Results: The overall prevalen.e of Helicobacter pylori colon.zation.in.408 asymptomatic adults was 52.5% (n.= 214) an. 48.3% (n.= 197) by qualitative (Combo rapid kits) an. quan.itative (Accu-Bin. ELISA Kits) serological test methods respectively. H. pylori in.ection.did n.t differ statistically between.gen.ers (p = 0.962) an. amon. age groups (p = 0.185). In.addition. multivariate logistic regression.in.icated that sex an. age were n.t associated with risk of H. pylori. However, participan.s from Delta Cen.ral were at greater risk (OR = 1.89;p = 0.014) of H. pylori in.ection.compared with those from Delta South, but those from Delta n.rth were n.t at greater risk of in.ection.compared with those from Delta South (p = 0.476). Con.lusion. This study in.icated an.in.ermediate seroprevalen.e of H. pylori amon. asymptomatic adults in.Delta state, n.geria. The prevalen.e of H. pylori in.ection.was lin.ed to geographical region. but n.t with sex an. age.
