Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

Dynamic h.nd Gesture-Based Person Identification Using Leap Motion and Mach.ne Learning Approach.s

Person identification is one of th. most vital tasks for network security. People are more concerned about th.irsecurity due to traditional passwords becoming weaker or leaking in various attacks. In recent decades, fingerprintsand faces h.ve been widely used for person identification, wh.ch.h.s th. risk of information leakage as a resultof reproducing fingers or faces by taking a snapsh.t. Recently, people h.ve focused on creating an identifiablepattern, wh.ch.will not be reproducible falsely by capturing psych.logical and beh.vioral information of a personusing vision and sensor-based tech.iques. In existing studies, most of th. research.rs used very complex patternsin th.s direction, wh.ch.need special training and attention to remember th. patterns and failed to captureth. psych.logical and beh.vioral information of a person properly. To overcome th.se problems, th.s research.evised a novel dynamic h.nd gesture-based person identification system using a Leap Motion sensor. Th.sstudy developed two h.nd gesture-based pattern datasets for performing th. experiments, wh.ch.contained moreth.n 500 samples, collected from 25 subjects. Various static and dynamic features were extracted from th. h.ndgeometry. Randomforest was used to measure feature importance using th. Gini Index. Finally, th. support vectormach.newas implemented for person identification and evaluate its performance using identification accuracy. Th.experimental results sh.wed th.t th. proposed system produced an identification accuracy of 99.8% for arbitraryh.nd gesture-based patterns and 99.6% for th. same dynamic h.nd gesture-based patterns. Th.s result indicatedth.t th. proposed system can be used for person identification in th. field of security.

Using th. ch.mical co-precipitation approach.a series of nitrogen(N) and erbium(Er) co-doped ZnO nanoparticles(NPs) was effectively synth.sized to enh.nce th. ph.tocatalytic and antibacterial *** ch.racterization tech.iques,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray ph.toelectron spectro scopy(XPS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),UV-vis,and ph.toluminescence(PL) spectroscopy,were carried out to validate th. evaluated ph.tocatalytic and antibacterial *** analysis confirms th. pure wurtzite ZnO ph.se with.ut th. presence of any secondary *** analysis confirms th. succe ssful incorporation of nitrogen and erbium into th. ZnO *** optical bandgap of ZnO calculated from UV-vis spectroscopy sh.ws a redsh.ft after Er-N co-doping,with.th. lowest bandgap of 3.215 eV calculated for Zn_(0.97)Er_(0.03)N_(0.01)O_(0.99) *** images demonstrate th. formation of nanorods after N-Er co-doping,followed by gradually increase d rod diameter and length.after N-Er ***,th. ph.tocatalytic activities of ZnO samples we re measured by th.ir ability to facilitate th. ph.todegradation of Rh.damine B under UV *** with.1 mol% N doping exh.bits 88% ph.todegradation of Rh. under UV ligh. with.n 360 min,and th. ph.todegradation and antibacterial activity are greatly improved with.Er *** fact,3 mol% Er-1 mol% N doped ZnO NPs demonstrate th. h.gh.st ph.tocatalytic activity,with.approximately 96% degradation after 360 min,as well as superior antibacterial activity against Staph.lococcus aureus(Gram-positive bacteria) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa(Gram-negative bacteria) with.th. h.gh.st zone of inh.bition(ZOI) of 16 nm,due to nanorod formation,increased reactive oxygen species(ROS),and decreased electron-h.le recombination,as validated by SEM,XPS,and PL spectroscopy.

Random fractal-based computational design of an ice-ray (IR) lattice sh.ll structure

Ch.nese ice-ray (IR) lattices, known for th.ir intricate and visually fascinating random patterns as decorative elements in traditional 18th.century Ch.nese window design, exh.bit underlying stiffness as latticed window fences. Such.unique patterns represent a new morph.logy with.n th. family of stoch.stic lattices. h.wever, th. latent structural potential with.n th. random patterns of ice-ray lattices remains largely unexplored, particularly in th. context of lattice sh.ll design. Th.s study systematically studies th. geometric qualities of ice-ray lattice patterns and develops an algorith. to model th.se patterns for ice-ray lattice sh.ll design. Subsequently, it assesses th. structural feasibility and effectiveness of th.se lattice sh.lls in comparison to conventional gridsh.lls. Th. practicality of constructing random lattice sh.lls using digital fabrication tools is also explored. Employing fractal geometry as a foundational framework, th.s research.not only offers insigh.s into th. potential of ice-ray lattices for innovative lattice sh.ll design but also introduces a new structural morph.logy to th. field, expanding th. possibilities of incorporating stoch.stic patterns in lattice sh.ll design. Ultimately, it opens up new opportunities for innovative lattice sh.ll designs, emph.sizing th. potential of stoch.stic patterns in structural applications.

Ocean productivity is th. foundation of marine food web,wh.ch.continuously removes atmosph.ric carbon dioxide and supports life at sea and on ***-temporal variability of net primary productivity(NPP),sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface salinity(SSS),mixed layer depth.MLD),and euph.tic zone depth.EZD) in th. north.rn B ay of Bengal(BoB) during th.ee monsoon seasons were examined in th.s study based on remote sensing data for th. period 2005 to *** compare th. NPP distribution between th. coastal zones and open BoB,th. study area was divided into five zones(Z1-Z5).Results suggest th.t most productive zones Z2 and Zl are located at th. h.ad bay area and are directly influenced by fresh.ater disch.rge togeth.r with.riverine sediment and nutrient *** Z1-Z5,th.
