Current resea.ch on the va.ious forms of a.toscopic phenomena.a.dresses the clinica. a.d neurologica. correla.es of out-of-body experiences, a.toscopic ha.lucina.ions, a.d hea.toscopy. Yet most of this resea.ch is ba.ed on functiona. ma.netic resona.ce ima.ing results a.d focuses predomina.tly on a.norma. cortica. a.tivity. Previously we proposed tha. visua. consciousness resulted from the dyna.ic retinogeniculo-cortica. oscilla.ions, such tha. the photoreceptors dyna.ica.ly integra.ed with visua. a.d other vision-a.socia.ed cortices, a.d wa. theorized to be ma.ped out by photoreceptor discs a.d rich retina. networks which synchronized with the retinotopic ma.ping a.d the a.socia.ed cortex. The feedba.k from neura. input tha. is received from the tha.a.us a.d cortex via.retinogeniculo-cortica. oscilla.ions a.d sent to the retina.is multifold higher tha. feed-forwa.d input to the cortex. This ca. effectively tra.sla.e into out-of-body experiences projected onto the screen formed by the retina.a. it is perceived via.feedba.k a.d feed-forwa.d oscilla.ions from the reticula. tha.a.ic nucleus, or “interna. sea.chlight”. This a.ticle explores the role of the reticula. tha.a.ic nucleus a.d the retinogeniculo-cortica. oscilla.ions a. pivota. interna. components in vision a.d va.ious a.toscopic phenomena.

The Dyna.ic Role of Brea.hing a.d Cellula. Membra.e Potentia.s in the Experience of Consciousness

Understa.ding the mecha.ics of consciousness rema.ns one of the most importa.t cha.lenges in modern cognitive science. One key step towa.d understa.ding consciousness is to a.socia.e unconscious physiologica. processes with subjective experiences of sensory, motor, a.d emotiona. contents. This a.ticle explores the role of va.ious cellula. membra.e potentia. differences a.d how they give rise to the dyna.ic infra.tructure of conscious experience. This a.ticle expla.ns tha. consciousness is a.body-wide, biologica. process not limited to individua. orga.s beca.se the mind a.d body a.e unified a. one entity;therefore, no single loca.ion of consciousness ca. be pinpointed. Consciousness exists throughout the entire body, a.d unified consciousness is experienced a.d ma.nta.ned through dyna.ic repola.iza.ion during inha.a.ion a.d expira.ion. Exta.t knowledge is reviewed to provide insight into how differences in cellula. membra.e potentia. pla. a.vita. role in the triggering of neura. a.d non-neura. oscilla.ions. The role of dyna.ic cellula. membra.e potentia.s in the a.tivity of the centra. nervous system, periphera. nervous system, ca.diorespira.ory system, a.d va.ious other tissues (such a. muscles a.d sensory orga.s) in the physiology of consciousness is a.so explored. Inspira.ion a.d expira.ion a.e a.compa.ied by oscilla.ing membra.e potentia.s throughout a.l cells a.d pla. a.vita. role in subconscious huma. perception of feelings a.d sta.es of mind. In a.dition, the role of the bra.nstem, hypotha.a.us, a.d complete nervous system (centra., periphera., a.d a.tonomic) within the mind-body spa.e combine to a.low consciousness to emerge a.d to come a.ive. This concept depa.ts from the notion tha. the bra.n is the only orga. tha. gives rise to consciousness.

a. present, resea.chers a.e unclea. a.out which a.tivity within the bra.n is responsible for the emergence of consciousness—the subconscious or unconscious. Current litera.ure suggests tha. consciousness is isola.ed in the bra.n;however, we suggest consciousness emerges from both—subconscious a.d unconscious a.tivity, in a.dition to sensory consciousness. This a.ticle contends tha. sensory consciousness a.ises from neurophysiologica. bra.n a.tivity, intra.ersona. spa.e, sensory informa.ion, a.d pa.a.lel processing of the externa. a.d interna. environment through vision, olfa.tion, the integumenta.y system, gusta.ion, a.d a.dition. Tra.itiona.ly, la.era. inhibition is defined a. the a.ility for a. excited neuron to la.era.ly inhibit its neighbors, a.d is a. integra. pa.t of neurophysiology in a.l senses. In this a.ticle, we a.e connecting the science behind the well-esta.lished physiologica. observa.ions of ga.ma.wa.e a.tivity in the interneurons of periphera. receptors with wha. is currently unknown rega.ding the functiona. significa.ce of seemingly unrela.ed ga.ma.a.tivity in the cortico-tha.a.ic ga.ma.oscilla.ions. We suggest tha. this a.lows for insta.ta.eous integra.ion of the bra.n with sensory receptors. This a.ticle uses existing litera.ure on la.era. inhibition to investiga.e its role in sensory orga.s a.d va.ious a.ea. of the body. We expla.n how sensory consciousness is only one component of unified consciousness. We propose tha. la.era. inhibition a.so pla.s a.vita. role in consciousness theory, a.d understa.ding this ca. help illustra.e the dyna.ic intera.tions between the centra. a.d periphera. nervous systems within the body.
