The influence of heat treatment on the microstructure and stress-rupture property at 1,100 °C/140 MPa was investigated in a 5.0 wt% Re containing experimental single crystal Ni-base superalloy. The results indicate that the γmorphology is nearly cuboidal in the dendrite core after conventional heat treatment. The lattice misfit of alloy becomes more negative after modified heat treatment and results in more cuboidal γ precipitates than that after conventional heat treatment. The increased stress-rupture life after modified heat treatment is attributed to higher γ volume fraction, more negative lattice misfit, well-rafted structure, and narrower c channel width.

The aim of this study undertaken at lake Muhazi in Rwanda was to determine and analyze the major elements present in water. The presence of many major elements （Al, As, Ba, C, Ca, Cu, Fe, H^＋, K, Mg, Mn, N, P, S, Si, and Zn） was determined by spectroscopic technique. The concentrations of the elements were measured in water samples taken from three different locations of the lake from May to August 2008. The lake is polluted by water flow from mountain sides surrounding the lake. Other causes of pollution could be the use of agrochemicals in the sugar land, which surrounds the lake, and human activities near the lake. Finally, we proposed the strategies that can be applied in order to ensure good conservation of the environment and to prevent augmentation of heavy materials into the lake.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infects approximately 200 million people worldwide. Interferon-based therapies have dominated over the past two decades. However, the overall response rates remain suboptimal. Thanks to the tremendous effort from both academia and industry, two serine protease inhibitors telaprevir and boceprevir for treating chronic hepatitis C have finally reached the clinic. Although these compounds are only approved for combination use with interferon and ribavirin in genotype 1 HCV infected chronic patients, the management of HCV patients however is now evolving incredibly. Here, we overviewed a series of landmark studies, regarding the clinical development of telaprevir and boceprevir. We discussed the mechanism-of-action of telaprevir/boceprevir and their potential application in HCV-positive liver transplantation patients. We further emphasized some emerging concerns with perspective of further development in this field.

Postoperative complications represent a basic quality indicator for measuring outcomes at surgical units. At present, however, they are not systematically measured in all surgical procedures. A more accurate assessment of their impact could help to evaluate the real morbidity associated with different surgical interventions, establish measures for improvement, increase efficiency and identify benchmarking services. The Clavien-Dindo Classification is the most widely used system worldwide for assessing postoperative ***, the postoperative period is summarized by the most serious complication without taking into account others of lesser magnitude. Recently,two new scoring systems have emerged, the Comprehensive Complication Index and the Complication Severity Score, which include all postoperative complications and quantify them from 0(no complications) to 100(patient’s death), These allow the comparison of results. It is important to train surgical staff to report and classify complications and to record 90-d morbidity rates in all patients. Comparisons with other services must take into account patient comorbidities and the complexity of the particular surgical procedure. To avoid subjectivity and bias, external audits are necessary. In addition, ensuring transparency in the reporting of the results is an urgent obligation.

Regulatory T cells(T regs) are key elements in immunological *** number of T regs may alter in both peripheral blood and in colonic mucosa during pathological *** local cellular,microbiological and cytokine milieu affect immunophenotype and function of T *** box P3+ T regs function shows altered properties in inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs).This alteration of T regs function can furthermore be observed between Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis,which may have both clinical and therapeutical *** mucosal inflammation may also influence T regs function,which together with the intestinal bacterial flora seem to have a supporting role in colitis-associated colorectal carcinogenesis.T regs have a crucial role in the immunoevasion of cancer cells in sporadic colorectal ***,their number and phenotype correlate closely with the clinical outcome of the disease,even if their contribution to carcinogenesis has previously been *** knowledge of the clinical relationship between IBD and colitis-associated colon cancer,and the growing number of immunological aspects encompassing sporadic colorectal carcinogenesis,the molecular and cellular links amongst T regs,regulation of the inflammation,and cancer development are still not well *** this paper,we aimed to review the current data surrounding the role of T regs in the pathogenesis of IBD,colitis-associated colon cancer and sporadic colorectal cancer.

Thermally chargeable supercapacitors can collect low-grade heat generated by the human body and convert it into electricity as a power supply unit for wearable ***,the low Seebeck coefficient and heat-to-electricity conversion efficiency hinder further *** this paper,we designed a high-performance thermally chargeable supercapacitor device composed of ZnMn_(2)O_(4)@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene composites(ZMO@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene)electrode and UIO-66 metal–organic framework doped multichannel polyvinylidene fluoridehexafluoro-propylene ionogel electrolyte,which realized the thermoelectric conversion and electrical energy storage at the same *** thermally chargeable supercapacitor device exhibited a high Seebeck coefficient of 55.4 mV K^(−1),thermal voltage of 243 mV,and outstanding heat-to-electricity conversion efficiency of up to 6.48%at the temperature difference of 4.4 *** addition,this device showed excellent charge–discharge cycling stability at high-temperature differences(3 K)and low-temperature differences(1 K),*** two thermally chargeable supercapacitor units in series,the generated output voltage of 500 mV further confirmed the stability of *** a single device was worn on the arm,a thermal voltage of 208.3 mV was obtained indicating the possibility of application in wearable electronics.

The role that the environment plays in vector-borne parasite infection is one of the central factors for understanding disease *** assessed how Neotropical bird foraging strata and habitat preferences determine infection by parasites of the genera Haemoproteus,Plasmodium,Leucocytozoon,and Trypanosoma and filarioids,and tested for phylogenetic signal in these host-parasite *** performed extensive searches of the scientific literature and created a database of hemoparasite *** collected data on host body mass,foraging strata,habitat preference,and migratory status,and tested if host ecological traits predict each hemoparasite occurrence and prevalence using a phylogenetic Bayesian *** of Plasmodium tend to infect birds from tropical forests while birds from altitudinal environments are likely to be infected by species of *** probability of a bird being infected by filarioid or Trypanosoma is higher in lowland *** species that occur in anthropic environments and dry habitats of tropical latitudes are more susceptible to infection by species of *** foraging strata is also influential and bird species that forage in the mid-high and canopy strata are more prone to infection by species of Haemoproteus and *** also identified phylogenetic signal for host-parasite associations with the probability of infection of Neotropical birds by any hemoparasite being more similar among more closely related *** provided a useful framework to identify environments that correlate with hemoparasite infection,which is also helpful for detecting areas with potential suitability for hemoparasite infection due to land conversion and climate change.

Validation of Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Reference Genes for Quantitative Real-time RT-PCR Normalization

The normalization of quantitative real time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) is important to obtain accurate gene expression data. The most common method for qRT-PCR normalization is to use reference, or house- keeping genes. However, there is emerging evidence that even reference genes can be regulated under different conditions, qRT-PCR has only recently been used in terms of zebrafish gene expression studies and there is no validated set of reference genes. This study characterizes the expression of nine possible reference genes during zebrafish embryonic development and in a zebrafish tissue panel. All nine reference genes exhibited variable expression. The β-actin, EF1α and Rp113α genes comprise a validated reference gene panel for zebrafish developmental time course studies, and the EF1α, Rp113α and 18S rRNA genes are more suitable as a reference gene panel for zebrafish tissue analysis. Importantly, the zebrafish GAPDH gene appears unsuitable as reference gene for both types of studies.
