Breast cancer is a type of cancer responsible for higher mortality rates among women. The cruelty of breast cancer always requires a promising approach for its earlier detection. In light of this, the proposed research leverages the representation ability of pretrained EfficientNet-B0 model and the classification ability of the XGBoost model for the binary classification of breast tumors. In addition, the above transfer learning model is modified in such a way that it will focus more on tumor cells in the input mammogram. Accordingly, the work proposed an EfficientNetB0 having a Spatial Attention Layer with XGBoost (ESA-XGBNet) for binary classification of mammograms. For this, the work is trained, tested, and validated using original and augmented mammogram images of three public datasets namely CBIS-DDSM, INbreast, and MIAS databases. Maximum classification accuracy of 97.585% (CBIS-DDSM), 98.255% (INbreast), and 98.91% (MIAS) is obtained using the proposed ESA-XGBNet architecture as compared with the existing models. Furthermore, the decision-making of the proposed ESA-XGBNet architecture is visualized and validated using the Attention Guided GradCAM-based Explainable AI technique. © 2024 The Authors.

Influence of FCA Welding Process Parameters on Distortion of 409M Stainless Steel for Rail Coach Building

The influence of flux cored arc welding （FCAW） process parameters such as welding current, travel speed, voltage and CO2 shielding gas flow rate on bowing distortion of 409M ferritic stainless steel sheets of 2 mm in thickness was discussed. The bowing distortions of the welded plates were measured using a simple device called profile tracer. An experimental regression equation was developed to predict the bowing distortion and with this equation, it is easy to select optimized process parameters to achieve minimum bowing distortion. It is revealed that the FCAW process parameters have significant influence on bead profile and the bowing distortion.

Influence of suspension stability on wet grinding for production of mineral nanoparticles

Grinding behavior of nanoparticles in an attritor mill and the minimum achievable particle size are strongly influenced by the suspension stability. In the present work, suspension stability （i.e. ξ-potential） of nanoparticles was studied by measuring pH as a function of grinding time in the wet milling process. It was found that after a certain time in an attritor mill, there is no further size reduction and the average product particle size increases monotonically. One of the reasons is that the production of submicron particles leads to more particle-particle interactions and consequently pH of the suspension decreases with grinding time. Usually pH value is related to suspension stability and it can be enhanced by addition of NaOH solution. The maximum negative ξ-potential of -51.2 mv was obtained at pH of 12 for silica. The higher the ξ-potential with the same polarity, higher will be the electrostatic repulsion between the particles. Hence, the maximum electrostatic repulsion force was maintained by the adjustment ofpH value in wet milling. The experiments were conducted at different pH conditions which were maintained constant throughout the experiments and nanosized particles were obtained consequently.

Chemical composition and anti-inflammatory activity of Boswellia ovalifoliolata essential oils from leaf and bark

We isolated the essential oils from Boswellia ovalifoliolata *** and *** using hydrodistillation,identified the obtained compounds using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS) and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),and studied the photophysical and electrochemical properties using Uv–visible and fluorescence spectroscopy and cyclic *** the basis of GC–MS spectra,38 compounds were identified in the essential oil from leaves and 26 in the oil from *** bark oil contained 13.44% b-Farnesene(sesquiterpene),10.45% caryophyllene oxide(sesquiterpene) and 6.6% spathulenol,(2 Z,6 E)-(sesquiterpene alcohol); the leaf oil contained 11.1% spathulenol(sesquiterpene alcohol),9.0% caryophyllene oxide(sesquiterpenoids) and 6.3% decyl acetate(ester).FT-IR spectra confirmed the presence of aliphatic aldehydes and ketones,carboxylic acid,alcohols,esters and ethers in both oil ***–visible absorption spectra showed maximum absorbance at 245,290 and 402 nm for bark oil,and 250,285 and 325 nm for *** oil showed strong emission with maximum emission wavelength at 456 nm was higher than that of leaf oil at 414 *** essential oil had significant anti-inflammatory activity,and the reduction potential of the leaf oil was-0.44 and-0.56 e v for bark.

Establishing the role of detoxifying enzymes in field-evolved resistance to various insecticides in the brown planthopper （Nilaparvata lugens） in South India

The brown planthopper （BPH）, Nilaparvata lugens （Stal）, is one of the major pests of rice throughout Asia. Extensive use of insecticides for suppressing N. lugens has resulted in the development of insecticide resistance leading to frequent control failures in the field. The aim of the present study was to evaluate resistance in the field populations of N. lugens from major rice growing states of South India to various insecticides. We also determined the activity of detoxifying enzymes （esterases [ESTs], glutathione S- transferases [GSTs], and mixed-fimction oxidases [MFOs]）. Moderate levels of resistance were detected in the field populations to acephate, thiamethoxam and buprofezin （resistance factors 1.05-20.92 fold, 4.52-14.99 fold, and 1.00-18.09 fold, respectively） as compared with susceptible strain while there were low levels of resistance to imidacloprid （resistance factor 1.23-6.70 fold） and complete sensitivity to etofenoprox （resistance factor 1.05- 1.66 fold）. EST activities in the field populations were 1.06 to 3.09 times higher than the susceptible strain while for GST and MFO the ratios varied from 1.29 to 3.41 and 1.03 to 1.76, respectively. The EST activity was found to be correlated to acephate resistance （r = 0.999, P ≥ 0.001）. The high selection pressure of organophosphate, neonicotinoid, and insect growth regulator （IGR） in the field is likely to be contributing for resistance in BPH to multiple insecticides, leading to control failures. The results obtained will be beneficial to IPM recommendations for the use of effective insecticides against BPH.

Further advancement of high-energy pulsed lasers requires a parallel development of appropriate optical *** different optical components, such as mirrors and antireflection-coated windows, which are essential for the design of Hi LASE high average power lasers were tested. The following paper summarizes results on the measurements of laser-induced damage threshold of such components, and clearly shows their capabilities and limitations for such a demanding application.

Cytochrome P4502J2(CYP2J2)metabolizes arachidonic acid(AA)to cardioprotective epoxyeicosatrienoic acids(EETs).Dronedarone,an antiarrhythmic drug prescribed for treatment of atrial fibrillation(AF)induces cardiac adverse effects(AEs)with poorly understood *** previously demonstrated that dronedarone inactivates CYP2J2 potently and irreversibly,disrupts AA-EET pathway leading to cardiac mitochondrial toxicity rescuable via EET *** this study,we investigated if mitigation of CYP2J2 inhibition prevents dronedarone-induced cardiac *** first synthesized a deuterated analogue of dronedarone(termed poyendarone)and demonstrated that it neither inactivates CYP2J2,disrupts AA-EETs metabolism nor causes cardiac mitochondrial toxicity in *** patch-clamp experiments demonstrated that pharmacoelectrophysiology of dronedarone is unaffected by ***,we show that dronedarone treatment or CYP2J2 knockdown in spontaneously beating cardiomyocytes indicative of depleted CYP2J2 activity exacerbates beat-to-beat(BTB)variability reflective of proarrhythmic *** contrast,poyendarone treatment yields significantly lower BTB variability compared to dronedarone in cardiomyocytes indicative of preserved CYP2J2 ***,poyendarone and dronedarone display similar antiarrhythmic properties in the canine model of persistent AF,while poyendarone substantially reduces beat-to-beat variability of repolarization duration suggestive of diminished proarrhythmic *** findings prove that deuteration of dronedarone prevents CYP2J2 inactivation and mitigates dronedarone-induced cardiac AEs.

A Hybrid Multifarious Clustering Algorithm for the Analysis of Memmogram Images

A number of clustering algorithms were used to analyze many databases in the field of image clustering. The main objective of this research work was to perform a comparative analysis of the two of the existing partitions based clustering algorithms and a hybrid clustering algorithm. The results verification done by using classification algorithms via its accuracy. The perfor-mance of clustering and classification algorithms were carried out in this work based on the tumor identification, cluster quality and other parameters like run time and volume complexity. Some of the well known classification algorithms were used to find the accuracy of produced results of the clustering algorithms. The performance of the clustering algorithms proved mean-ingful in many domains, particularly k-Means, FCM. In addition, the proposed multifarious clustering technique has revealed their efficiency in terms of performance in predicting tumor affected regions in mammogram images. The color images are converted in to gray scale images and then it is processed. Finally, it is identified the best method for the analysis of finding tumor in breast images. This research would be immensely useful to physicians and radiologist to identify cancer affected area in the breast.

Manganese Phosphating is the most widely used metal pre treatment process for the surface treatment and finishing of ferrous metals. Due to its economy, speed of operation and ability to afford excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, adhesion and oil retaining properties, which ultimately improves its lubricating properties, it plays a significant role in the manufacturing and process industries. ASTM A681 or AISI D2 tool steel is a versatile high-carbon, high-chromium, air-hardened tool steel, which has been taken for this study is a highly wear resistance steel, used for making dies, punches, tools and cutters. But it posses mild resistance to corrosion at hardened condition though it has chromium content in it. Thus the aim of the present study is to investigate the corrosion resistance, oil retaining and adhesive properties of manganese phosphate coated AISI D2 Tool steel at various surface roughness values (Ra). Corrosion analysis using scanning electron microscope (SEM) images has also been carried out and the results provide some useful information pertaining to manganese phosphate coatings.

Response of Photonic Hydrogels of Homogeneous Particles to Uranyl Ions in Aqueous Solutions

We study here the response of photonic hydrogels(PHs),made of photonic crystals of homogeneous silica particles in polyacrylamide hydrogels(SPHs),to the uranyl ions 22 UO_(2)^(2+) in aqueous *** is found that the reflection spectra of the SPH show a peak due to the Bragg diffraction,which exhibits a blue shift in the presence of 22 UO_(2)^(2+).Upon exposure to the SPH,22 UO_(2)^(2+)gets adsorbed on the SPH and forms complex coordinate bonds with multiple ligands on the SPH,which causes shrinking of hydrogel and leads to the blue shift in the diffraction *** amount of the blue shift in the diffraction peak increases monotonically up to 22 UO_(2)^(2+)concentrations as high as 2300μ*** equilibration time for the shift in the Bragg peak upon exposure to 22 UO_(2)^(2+)is found to be~30 *** results are in contrast to the earlier reports on photonic hydrogels of inhomogeneous microgel particles hydrogel(MPH),which shows the threshold 22 UO_(2)^(2+)concentration of~600μM,below which the diffraction peak exhibits a blue shift and a change to a red shift above *** equilibration time for MPH is~300 *** observed monotonic blue shift and the faster time response of the SPH to 22 UO_(2)^(2+)as compared to the MPH are explained in terms of homogeneous nature of silica particles in the SPH,against the porous and polymeric nature of microgels in the *** also study the extraction of 22 UO_(2)^(2+)from aqueous solutions using the *** extraction capacity estimated by the arsenazo-III analysis is found to be 112 mM/kg.
