In the primitive era, humans benefited partially from plants and metals to treat microbial infections. Later these infections were cured with antibiotics but further suffered from resistance issues. In searching of an alternative, researchers developed an adjuvant therapy but were hampered by spreading resistance. Subsequently, nanoparticles(NPs) were proposed to cease the multi-drug resistant bacteria but were hindered due to toxicity issues. Recently, a novel adjuvant therapy employed metals and botanicals into innovative nanotechnology as nano-antibiotics. The combination of green synthesized metallic NPs with antibiotics seems to be a viable platform to combat against MDR bacteria by alleviating resistance and toxicity. This review focuses on the primitive to present era dealings with bacterial resistance mechanisms, newer innovations of nanotechnology and their multiple mechanisms to combat resistance. In addition, special focus is paid on greener NPs as antibiotic carriers, and their future prospects of controlled release and toxicity study.

The purpose of this research was to apply statistical design for the preparation of a gastric floating tablet(GFT)of propranolol HCl and to investigate the effect of formulation variables on drug release and the buoyancy properties of the delivery *** contents of polyethylene oxide(PEO)WSR coagulant and sodium bicarbonate were used as independent variables in central composite design of the best *** effects and interaction terms of the formulation variables were evaluated quantitatively using a mathematical model approach showing that both independent variables have significant effects on floating lag time,%drug release at 1 h(D_(1h))and time required to release 90%of the drug(t_(90)).The desired function was used to optimize the response variables,each with a different target,and the observed responses were in good agreement with the experimental *** and DSC studies of the statistically optimized formulation revealed there was no chemical interaction between drug and *** statistically optimized formulation released drug according to first order kinetics with a non-Fickian diffusion *** of the optimized formulation in vivo in human volunteers showed that the GFT was buoyant in gastric fluid and that its gastric residence time was enhanced in the fed but not the fasted state.

Optimization of luminescence properties of Tb^(3+)-doped a-Sr_2P_2O_7 phosphor synthesized by combustion method

In this paper, thermoluminescence （TL） properties of rare earth Tb^3＋-doped α-Sr2P2O7 were examined after β-irradiation and photoluminescence （PL） properties of samples were examined for proper excitation. All the samples were synthesized by high-temperature combustion method. The X-ray diffraction （XRD） and Fourier transform infrared （FTIR） spectroscopy characterization confirms the formation of pure α-phase with crystallized in orthorhombic structure of samples. The PL emission spectra of all samples exhibit characteristic green emission peaks of Tb^3＋ where the peak at 545 nm has the highest emission intensity for Tb^3＋ con- centration of 5.0 mol%. The TL glow curves of β-irradiated Tb^3＋-doped α-Sr2P2O7 phosphors were recorded at different heating rates of 2, 4, and 6 K.s^-1. TL curves of all sample exhibit combination of two peaks： peak at 420 K shifts toward higher 525 K remains unaffected temperature, while peak at with the increase in Tb^3＋ concentration as well as fading effect. The activation energy and kinetic parameters of the samples were evaluated using thermoluminescence peak shape method.

Controlled Drug Release Studies of Atenolol Using Differently Sulfonated Acryloxyacetophenone and Methyl Methacrylate Copolymer Resins as Drug Carriers

2-Acryloxyacetophenone （AAP） was prepared and subjected to suspension polymerization with methyl methacrylate （MMA） using azobisisobutyronitrile （AIBN） as free radical initiator. The differently sulfonated AAP-MMA cross-linked copolymer cationic exchange resins were prepared by sulfonation with concentrated sulphuric acid at 70 ~C. Several characteristics of the prepared resins were evaluated, i.e. FTIR, the ion-exchange capacity （IEC）, thermo gravimetric analysis （TGA）, particle size distribution and microscopic morphology. The resin characteristics were altered with degree of sulfonation, providing that differently sulfonated resins could be prepared. The behavior of atenolol （ATL） loading and in vitro release in the USP stimulated gastric and intestinal fluids of the obtained resins were evaluated. The drug loaded in the resin increased with increasing degree of sulfonation and hence the drug binding site in resin employed. The drug release was lower from the resins with higher content of sulfonic group due to the increase in the diffusive path depth. The drug release was a little lower in stimulated gastric fluid （SGF） than in stimulated intestinal fluids （SIF）. The basic groups, ionized to a little greater extent in SGF and preferred binding with the resin rather than releasing. Hence, the differently sulfonated resins could be utilized as novel carriers for drug delivery.

Contra-rotating turbines offer enhanced performance over their conventional corotating *** addition,vaneless contra-rotating turbine stages offer lesser stage length along with improved ***-rotating turbines with a vaned LP stages offer a controlled work-split between the stages over a wider range of operating conditions by maintaining inlet swirl to the second *** objective of the present work is to design an equivalent vaned contra-rotating turbine for an existing co-rotating configuration of a two-spool turbo fan *** contra-rotating turbine is designed by retaining the existing flow path and HP turbine,and redesigning the LP turbine for fixed radial distributions of inlet total temperature,pressure and swirl.A comparative study between performance of the co-rotating and contra-rotating turbines is carried out for different *** testing of the LP stator and rotor mean sections was carried out to validate the *** LP stage of contra-rotating turbine exhibits a performance improvement by 2%points at design point,as per flow *** reduced flow deflection in stator row is the primary reason for significant reduction in profile and secondary losses in contra-rotating turbine,which contributed to the performance improvement.A significant reduction of 23%in blade weight and 45% in LP stator vane count is obtained.

Nanosilica,when combined with cement slurry aids in improving its compressive strength even,reduces the wait-on-cement time for cement *** study focuses on the synergistic effect of nano-silica in oil and gas well cementing.A comparative study is conducted on the performance of cement slurry(conventional 118 pcf(15.8 lbm/gal))with nanosilica and cement slurry without *** cement slurry combined with nano-silica has shown an early compressive strength development in cement slurry at different concentration of silica fume at 10% and 20% by weight of *** study also focuses on other areas for improvement including slurry stability,free fluid reduction,lower fluid loss value,fine rheology,appropriate thickening time and higher ultimate compressive strength *** cement slurry with nano-silica has shown improvement in the compressive strength due to the increased rate of hydration,thus thickening time was within 5hrs.

Management of proximal tibial stress fracture associated with advanced knee osteoarthritis:A systematic review

Purpose:Tibial stress fracture associated with knee osteoarthritis is an unusual and difficult clinical *** is no clear existing treatment guideline for this uncommon clinical *** aim of this study is to review the impact of various treatment options for patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis associated with proximal tibial stress ***:The study was performed using the databases of PubMed and *** index for non-randomized studies score was used to evaluate the included studies’*** concluded data included the treatment approach,reported outcome measure,and time to fracture *** literature search was started in December 2021 and accomplished in January 2022.A narrative description of the different methods and comparison of their results were ***:Out of total assessed 69 studies,9 studies were included in our *** commonest treatment approach used was total knee arthroplasty by long tibial stem *** mean preoperative knee society score and knee functional score were 30.62 and 23.17,*** mean postoperative knee society knee score was 86.87,while the functional score was *** average reported time to achieve fracture union was 4 months(a range of 2.07-5.50 months).Conclusion:The optimal clinical outcome for treating either acute or mobile tibial stress fracture in patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis can be achieved with long stem total knee ***,due to heterogeneity of data,comparison of different treatment options for chronic proximal tibial stress fracture mal-union/non-union coexisting with knee osteoarthritic and such inferences need to be judged cautiously.

Non-Aligned Stagnation Point Flow of a Casson Fluid Past a Stretching Sheet in a Doubly Stratified Medium

This paper investigates the problem of oblique hydro magnetic stagnation point flow of an electrically conducting Casson fluid over stretching sheet embedded in a doubly stratified medium in the presence of thermal radiation and heat source/absorption with first order chemical *** is assumed that the fluid impinges on the wall *** variables were used to convert the partial differential equations to ordinary differential *** transformed ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method with shooting *** is observed that a boundary layer is formed when the stretching velocity of the surface is less than the in viscid free stream velocity at a point decreases with increase in the non-Newtonian rheology *** augmentation of the temperature is observed with the magnetic parameter,heat source parameter and thermal radiation parameter while a reverse effect with thermal stratification number,Prandtl number and the velocity ratio *** of Skin friction coefficient,Nusselt number and Sherwood number on the flow configurations for different values of pertinent parameters are portrayed graphically and *** results are compared with the published results and are found to be in good agreement with previously published results as special cases of present *** mass concentration is seen to be decrease with Schmidt number,chemical reaction parameter and solutal stratification number.
