The Chambal Valley forms the western part of the Proterozoic Vindhyan Basin that has been less studied and poorly explored from the hydrocarbon perspective than its eastern counterpartdthe Son Valley *** the present manuscript,attempts have been made to use remote sensing and GIS(geographic information system)based analysis to focus on the northern part of Chambal Valley to decipher its tectonics and structural configuration,its tectonic relation with the Son Valley Vindhyans,Bundelkhand Massif and Ganga *** study also assumes significance as it attempts to delineate potential lead areas for hydrocarbon exploration in Chambal *** part of the study,a detailed spectral analysis based on image data sets is carried out to identify areas of microseeps as proxies of potential hydrocarbon ***,a neotectonics-based geomorphic analysis is carried out to delineate a fault network and geomorphic highs that act as aliases to subsurface faults and structural *** results are subsequently validated by available geophysical data and extensive fieldwork,and suggest four structural trends in the Chambal Valley as striking NE-SW,E-W,NW-SE and NeS,of which the NW-SE trend is the oldest,followed by the NE-SW,E-W and NeS trends.A GIS-based analysis of the E-W trends indicates that these are probably manifestations of the westward continuity of E-W-trending shear zones developed in Bundelkhand massif within the basement of the Chambal *** remote sensing studies of the shear zone network exposed in the Bundelkhand massif indicate the pattern to be replicated on a larger scale in the morphostructural fault layout in the adjacent Ganga Basin,implying these shear zones may be continuing in the basement of Ganga Basin and controlling structures developed later,and consequently the different petroleum system elements in the basin.A dip data based structural analysis of the Chambal Valley describes a regional synform attributed with an almost

The scope of this paper broadly spans in two areas： system identification of resonant system and design of an efficient control scheme suitable for resonant systems. Use of filters based on orthogonal basis functions （OBF） have been advocated for modelling of resonant process. Kautz filter has been identified as best suited OBF for this purpose. A state space based system identification technique using Kautz filters, viz. Kautz model, has been demonstrated. Model based controllers are believed to be more efficient than classical controllers because explicit use of process model is essential with these modelling techniques. Extensive literature search concludes that very few reports are available which explore use of the model based control studies on resonant system. Two such model based controllers are considered in this work, viz. model predictive controller and internal model controller. A model predictive control algorithm has been developed using the Kautz model. The efficacy of the model and the controller has been verified by two case studies, viz. linear second order underdamped process and a mildly nonlinear magnetic ball suspension system. Comparative assessment of performances of these controllers in those case studies have been carried out.

Studies on electro-osmotic flows of various types of fluids in microchannel are of great importance owing to their multifold applications in the transport of liquids, particularly when the ionized liquid flows with respect to a charged surface in the presence of an external electric field. In the case of viscoelastic fluids, the volumetric flow rate differs significantly from that of Newtonian fluids, even when the flow takes place under the same pressure gradient and the same electric field. With this end in view, this paper is devoted to a study concerning the flow pattern of an electro-osmotic flow in a porous microchannel, which is under the action of an alternating electric field. The influence of various rheological and electro-osmotic parameters, e.g., the Reynolds number, Debye-Huckel parameter, shape factor and fluid viscoelasticity on the kinematics of the fluid, has been investigated for a secondgrade viscoelastic fluid. The problem is first treated by using analytical methods, but the quantitative estimates are obtained numerically with the help of the software MATHEMATICA. The results presented here are applicable to the cases where the channel height is much greater than the thickness of the electrical double layer comprising the Stern and diffuse layers. The study reveals that a larger value of the Debye-Huckel parameter creates sharper profile near the wall and also that the velocity of electro-osmotic flow increases as the permeability of the porous microchannel is enhanced. The study further shows that the electro-osmotic flow dominates at lower values of Reynolds number. The results presented here will be quite useful to validate the observations of experimental investigations on the characteristics of electro-osmotic flows and also the results of complex numerical models that are necessary to deal with more realistic situations, where electro-osmotic flows come into the picture, as in blood flow in the micro-circulatory system subject to an elect

A problem motivated by the investigation of the heat and mass transfer in the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） flow of blood through a vessel is solved numerically when the lumen of the vessel has turned into the porous structure. The time-dependent permeability and the oscillatory suction velocity are considered. The computational results are presented graphically for the velocity, the temperature, and the concentration fields for various values of skin friction coefficients, Nusselt numbers, and Sherwood numbers. The study reveals that the flow is appreciably influenced by the presence of a magnetic field and also by the value of the Grashof number.

The broadband spectral energy distribution（SED） of blazars is generally interpreted as radiation arising from synchrotron and inverse Compton mechanisms. Traditionally,the underlying source parameters responsible for these emission processes,like particle energy density,magnetic field,etc.,are obtained through simple visual reproduction of the observed fluxes. However,this procedure is incapable of providing confidence ranges for the estimated parameters. In this work,we propose an efficient algorithm to perform a statistical fit of the observed broadband spectrum of blazars using different emission models. Moreover,we use the observable quantities as the fit parameters,rather than the direct source parameters which govern the resultant SED. This significantly improves the convergence time and eliminates the uncertainty regarding initial guess parameters. This approach also has an added advantage of identifying the degenerate parameters,which can be removed by including more observable information and/or additional constraints. A computer code developed based on this algorithm is implemented as a user-defined routine in the standard X-ray spectral fitting package,XSPEC. Further,we demonstrate the efficacy of the algorithm by fitting the well sampled SED of blazar 3 C 279 during its gamma ray flare in 2014.

The propagation characteristics of nonlinear ion–acoustic（IA） solitary waves（SWs） are studied in thermal electron–positron–ion plasma considering the effect of relativistic positron beam. Starting from a set of fluid equations and using the reductive perturbation technique, we derive a Korteweg–de Vries（KdV） equation which governs the evolution of weakly nonlinear IA SWs in relativistic beam driven plasmas. The properties of the IA soliton are studied, and it is shown that the presence of relativistic positron beam significantly modifies the characteristics of IA solitons.

This paper describes results of seam welding of relatively high temperature melting materials, AISI 304, C-Mn steels, Ni-based alloys, CP Cu, CP Ni, Ti6Al4V and relatively low temperature melting material, AA6061. It describes the seam welding of multi-layered similar and dissimilar metallic sheets. The method described and involved advancing a rotating non-consumable rod(CP Mo or AISI 304) toward the upper sheet of a metallic stack clamped under pressure. As soon as the distal end of the rod touched the top portion of the upper metallic sheet, an axial force was applied. After an initial dwell time, the metallic stack moved horizontally relative to the stationery non-consumable rod by a desired length, thereby forming a metallurgical bond between the metallic sheets. Multi-track and multi-metal seam welds of high temperature metallic sheets, AISI 304, C-Mn steel,Nickel-based alloys, Cp Cu, Ti6Al4V and low temperature metallic sheets, AA6061 were obtained. Optical and scanning electron microscopy examination and 180 degree U-bend test indicated that defect free seam welds could be obtained with this method. Tensile- shear testing showed that the seam welds of AISI 304, C-Mn steel, Nickel-based alloy were stronger than the starting base metal counterparts while AA6061 was weaker due to softening. The metallurgical bonding at the interface between the metallic sheets was attributed to localized stick and slip at the interface, dynamic recrystallization and diffusion. The method developed can be used as a means of welding, cladding and additive manufacturing.

The three isomers of C2H4O2,viz.,glycolaldehyde(HCOCH2 OH),acetic acid(CH3 COOH)and methyl formate(HCOOCH3),have been detected in copious amounts in the interstellar medium(ISM).The possibility for formation of these molecules through interstellar formaldehyde(HCHO)has been explored by using the quantum chemical approach described by density functional theory(DFT)and second order Moller-Plesset perturbation(MP2)theory with a 6–311 G(d,p)basis set in the gas phase as well as in icy *** associated molecule-molecule interactions have been discussed to study the formation of isomers of C2H4O2 in *** reactions of two formaldehyde molecules exhibit a considerable potential barrier but due to quantum tunneling,these reactions could be possible in *** chemical pathway is exothermic,which gives rise to a high probability for the formation of all three isomers,***,methyl formate and acetic acid,in interstellar *** rotational vibration,centrifugal distortion constants and coupling constants are also calculated and results suggest that the vibrations are harmonic in nature.

Forest resources are important natural resources for all living beings but they are continuously depleting due to overgrowth of human population and their development ***,conservation of forest resources is an important problem for sustainable *** view of this,in this paper,we have proposed and analyzed a nonlinear mathematical model to study the effects of economic and technological efforts on the conservation of forest *** the modeling process,it is assumed that due to increase in population size,the demand of population(population pressure)for forest products,lands,etc.,increases and to reduce this population pressure,economic efforts are employed proportional to the population ***,it is assumed that technological efforts in the form of genetically engineered plants are applied proportional to the depleted level of forest resources to conserve *** analysis reveals that increase in economic and technological efforts increases the density of forest resources but further increase in these efforts destabilizes the *** simulation is carried out to verify analytical findings and explore the effect of different parameters on the dynamics of model system.
