Ross’ epidemic model describing the transmission of malaria uses two classes of infection, one for humans and one for mosquitoes. This paper presents a stochastic extension of a deterministic vector-borne epidemic model based only on the class of human infectious. The consistency of the model is established by proving that the stochastic delay differential equation describing the model has a unique positive global solution. The extinction of the disease is studied through the analysis of the stability of the disease-free equilibrium state and the persistence of the model. Finally, we introduce some numerical simulations to illustrate the obtained results.

In this paper, we treat the spread of COVID-19 using a delayed stochastic SVIRS (Susceptible, Infected, Recovered, Susceptible) epidemic model with a general incidence rate and differential susceptibility. We start with a deterministic model, then add random perturbations on the contact rate using white noise to obtain a stochastic model. We first show that the delayed stochastic differential equation that describes the model has a unique global positive solution for any positive initial value. Under the condition R0 ≤ 1, we prove the almost sure asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium of the model.

Determination of the Electrical Parameters of a Solar Cell in Steady State

Photovoltaic solar energy can be obtained by using several types of technologies, including silicon solar cells. The characterization of its solar cells makes it possible to know them better. This article presents, on the one hand, the work that has been carried out on these cells. On the other hand, a theoretical study of the cell under illumination using Lambert’s W function. On the basis of the electrical parameters provided by the manufacturer, the parameters such as the series and shunt resistances and the electrical quantities such as the photocurrent and the photovoltage, are determined and studied according to the ideality factor of the diode. From the results obtained the shunt resistance increases when the ideality factor increases, the series resistance decreases very weakly.

Inhibition Performance of Some Sulfonylurea on Copper Corrosion in Nitric Acid Solution Evaluated Theoretically by DFT Calculations

The theoretical study of chlorpropamide, tolazamide and glipizide was carried out by the Density Functional Theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-31G(d) level. This study made it possible to determine the global reactivity parameters in order to better understand the interactions between the molecules studied and the copper surface. Then, the determination of local reactivity indices (Fukui functions and dual descriptor) on these molecules resulted in the precision on the most probable centers of nucleophilic and electrophilic attacks within each molecule. The results obtained, show that chloropropamide, tolazamide and glipizide can be good inhibitors against copper corrosion. Thus, the mechanism of copper corrosion inhibition of these compounds in nitric acid solution has been explained by means of theoretical calculations.

Objective: The aim was to take stock of the screening and treatment of precancerous and cancerous lesions of the cervix in the health district of commune V of Bamako, the “G” point and the Gabriel Touré University Hospital in Bamako, Mali. Patients and Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, analytical study with retrospective and prospective data collection over an 8-year period from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2017. This was a multi-center study. Results: From January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2017, 42,492 women were screened, representing a frequency of 24.30%. The median age of the women screened was 32 years;25% were under the age of 25. Three-fourth of the women screened was in the 20 - 49 age group. Of the 22,842 women screened, 90.1% of them had a normal col to IVA/IVL. However, 4.1% of cervical positivity had with acetic acid and 5.1% of positivity to Lugol. 0.7% of the women screened clinically had cancerous lesions. Histologically, 96.5% of the women screened had a normal cervix with benign lesions. A systematic study was carried out to assess the level of contamination with fluorides and heavy metals in the drinking water of the city of Daloa as well as the risks to the health of consumers. The waters of 11.11% of the sites sampled exceeded the fluoride limit for drinking water with a contamination index (CI) greater than 0. All the waters recorded concentrations of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and lead (Pb) above the recommended values with CI > 0. However, 22.22% of the sites recorded concentrations below the standard for zinc (Zn) with IC 1 for children in 22.22% of drinking water studied. HQs have an average of less than 1 for fluorine and greater than 1 for all metals. Moreover, the danger indices have values greater than 1. The incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) and the total ILCR are above the recommended values. These results showed that the drinking water sampled is of poor quality due to higher levels of heavy metals, which can constitute a danger to human health. Long-term use of one of these poor quality waters can lead to cancer in consumers. It is therefore necessary to treat this water in order to eliminate the metals before using it for drinking. This study can help decision-makers and competent authorities in charge of water management.

Background: Angina is a common paediatric condition. It has certain peculiarities in children, particularly with regard to the frequency of bacterial germs and the use of diagnostic tests. The aim of this study was to determine the place of the rapid diagnostic test in the management of group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal angina in children in the paediatric ward at Donka National Hospital. Methods: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting 6 months from 1st February to 31st July 2019 concerning children aged between 3 and 15 years old who were diagnosed with angina. Epidemiological, clinical, para-clinical and therapeutic variables were studied. Results: Out of 1494 registered children, we collected 116 cases of angina (7.76%). Out of 52 patients who benefited from the rapid diagnostic test, we recorded 13 cases of angina due to group A beta-hemolytic strptococcus. The use of antimicrobials without microbiological proof is frequent and contributes to the emergence of resistance. The aim was to identify the organisms isolated during laboratory examinations and the type of antimicrobials consumed by patients hospitalized to Infectious Diseases’ Clinic. This is a cross-sectional and analytical study, carried out from January 1 to December 31, 2017 in the Infectious Diseases Department of Point “G” Teaching Hospital in Mali. All biological specimens from patients during the study period were analyzed. In total, 322 patients benefited from microbiological test, with a mean age of 40.9 ± 12.2 years (range 15 and 74 years) with a sex ratio of 0.93. Only 5.6% of patients were HIV negative. In all participants, a total of 658 microbiological specimen were taken, 224 (34.0%) identified at least one pathogen including bacteria in more than a half of the cases (58.5%). On the report of bacteriological analysis, the most frequently identified organisms were Mycobacterium tuberculosis (42.2%) mainly in sputum;Escherichia coli (24.2%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (7.8%) commonly in urine and Gardnerella vaginalis (7.0%) exclusively in vaginal secretions. Candida albicans (5/8) and Cryptococcus neoformans (3/8) were the most common fungi while Plasmodium falciparum (96.4%) represented the parasite frequently found in blood. From a therapeutic standpoint, 1143 antimicrobials were prescribed to 322 admitted patients, i.e. 3.55 anti-infectives per patient. Antibiotics (excluding tuberculosis drugs), antiparasitics and antifungals represented respectively 46.2%;18.8% and 15.1% of anti-infectives. Antibiotic therapy was effective in 274 (85.1%) patients and among them, only 76 (27.7%) cases were based on microbiological evidence. Background: The regression of post-vaccination immunity with age exposes elderly subjects to certain infectious diseases, in particular tetanus. The aim was to compare the clinical and prognostic features of tetanus according to the age of patients. Methodology: Analytical study of the files of patients hospitalized for tetanus in the Infectious Diseases Department at Point “G” University Teaching Hospital from 2013 to 2019 with retrospective collection. According to age, three groups of patients were formed: group I (Results: In total, 202 cases of tetanus were recorded or 7.3% of admissions. The mean age was 41.9 ± 15.6 years (range, 6 and 85 years) with a sex ratio of 19.2. According to the age grouping, group II was predominant (79.2%) followed by group III (14.9%) with respective mean ages of 39.2 ± 10.6 and 67.3 ± 6.5 and sex ratio of 39 and 29. Workers (33.3%), farmers (25.8%), traders (19.7%) and drivers (7.1%) represented the most important occupations most at risk. Clinically, bad general condition (p Conclusion: Tetanus is more prevalent in men. Complications and mortality increase with age. It is important to include booster immunization of adults in existing national programs in order to reduce disease-related morbidity and mortality in this age group.
