s.m-to-Real: A Performance Comparis.n of PPO, TD3, and s.C Reinforcement Learning Algorithms.for Quadruped Walking Gait Generation

The performance of the s.ate-of-the-art Deep Reinforcement algorithms.s.ch as.Proximal Policy Optimization, Twin Delayed Deep Determinis.ic Policy Gradient, and s.ft Actor-Critic for generating a quadruped walking gait in a virtual environment was.pres.nted in previous.res.arch work titled “A Comparis.n of PPO, TD3, and s.C Reinforcement Algorithms.for Quadruped Walking Gait Generation”. We demons.rated that the s.ft Actor-Critic Reinforcement algorithm had the bes. performance generating the walking gait for a quadruped in certain ins.ances.of s.ns.r configurations.in the virtual environment. In this.work, we pres.nt the performance analys.s.of the s.ate-of-the-art Deep Reinforcement algorithms.above for quadruped walking gait generation in a phys.cal environment. The performance is.determined in the phys.cal environment by trans.er learning augmented by real-time reinforcement learning for gait generation on a phys.cal quadruped. The performance is.analyzed on a quadruped equipped with a range of s.ns.rs.s.ch as.pos.tion tracking us.ng a s.ereo camera, contact s.ns.ng of each of the robot legs.through force res.s.ive s.ns.rs. and proprioceptive information of the robot body and legs.us.ng nine inertial meas.rement units. The performance comparis.n is.pres.nted us.ng the metrics.as.ociated with the walking gait: average forward velocity (m/s., average forward velocity variance, average lateral velocity (m/s., average lateral velocity variance, and quaternion root mean s.uare deviation. The s.rengths.and weaknes.es.of each algorithm for the given tas. on the phys.cal quadruped are dis.us.ed.

Clinical-DNA Correlates.of Anxiety in Patients.with Ehlers.Danlos.s.ndrome

Introduction: Anxiety dis.rders.have a lifetime prevalence of 34% with a s.milar level of heritability (31%) yet lack objective markers.that could differentiate patients.with underlying conditions. Up to 60%-70% of patients.with Ehlers.Danlos.s.ndrome have anxiety that meets.criteria of generalized anxiety dis.rder, their clinical-DNA findings.worth examining as.biomarkers.for patients.with generalized anxiety. Method: Of the 1899 patients.diagnos.d with Ehlers.Danlos.s.ndrome, 1261 were s.s.ematically evaluated for 80 his.ory and 40 phys.cal findings.and s.parated into 826 who reported anxiety and 435 who did not. The mos. cons.s.ently reported or management-directing 60 of thes. clinical findings.were, along with variations.in genes.relevant to thes. dis.rders. examined for as.ociation with anxiety. Res.lts. Among the 30 anxiety- as.ociated findings.judged mos. predictive of Ehlers.Danlos.s.ndrome in patients.with anxiety were expected ones.of adrenergic s.imulation (difficulty concentrating-87% frequency and 1.26 anxiety/no anxiety ratio;chronic fatigue-84%, 1.17;s.eep is.ues.69%, 1.52 that are criteria for generalized anxiety dis.rder) or of cholinergic s.ppres.ion (e.g., frequent naus.a 64%, 1.26). Les. as.ociated but more dis.riminating for underlying dis.as. were thos. reflective of neuromus.ular impact (e.g., chronic daily headaches.76%, 1.12);hypermobility (e.g., awarenes. of flexibility 72%, 1.03), or s.in changes.(e.g., elas.icity around jaw 71%, 1.06). Anxiety-as.ociated DNA variants.included 54 of 88 in collagen type I/V/VII/IX genes. 14 of 16 in s.dium channel s.N9A/10A/ 11A genes. 59 of 85 in POLG/MT-DNA genes. and 21 of 28 in profilaggrin- FLG genes.that res.ectively impacted tis.ue laxity, s.ns.ry neural, autonomic-mitochondrial, and autonomic-inflammatory functions. Conclus.on: Analys.s.of pathogenetic mechanis.s.in Ehlers.Danlos.s.ndrome s.lected s.me 50 clinical-DNA findings.us.ful for its.diagnos.s.in thos. with generalized anxiety dis.rders.

Clus.er Modulation: A Generalized Modulation s.heme Leading to NOMA or Adaptive Modulation

The need for higher data rate and higher s.s.ems.capacity leads.to s.veral s.lutions.including higher cons.ellation s.ze, s.atial multiplexing, adaptive modulation and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Acces. (NOMA). Adaptive Modulation makes.us. of the us.r’s.location from his.bas. s.ation, s.ch that, clos.r us.rs.get bigger cons.ellation s.ze and hence higher data rate. A s.milar idea of adaptive modulation that makes.us. of the us.r’s.locations.is.the NOMA technique. Here the bas. s.ation trans.its.compos.te s.gnals.each for a different us.r at a different dis.ance from the bas. s.ation. The trans.itted s.gnal is.formed by s.mming different us.r’s.cons.ellations.with different weights. The clos.r the us.rs.the les. average power cons.ellation is.us.d. This.will allow the clos.r us.r to the bas. s.ation to dis.inguis. his.cons.ellation and others.cons.ellation. The far us.r will only dis.inguis. his.cons.ellation and other us.r’s.data will appear as.a s.all interference added to his.s.gnal. In this.paper, it is.s.own that the Adaptive modulation and the NOMA are s.ecial cas.s.of the more general Clus.er Modulation technique. In an effort to reduce vehicle collis.ons.with s.owplows.in poor weather conditions. this.paper details.the development of a real time thermal image bas.d machine learning approach to an early collis.on avoidance s.s.em for s.owplows. which intends.to detect and es.imate the dis.ance of trailing vehicles. Due to the operational conditions.of s.owplows. which include heavy-blowing s.ow, traditional optical s.ns.rs.like LiDAR and vis.ble s.ectrum cameras.have reduced effectivenes. in detecting objects.in s.ch environments. Thus. we propos. us.ng a thermal infrared camera as.the primary s.ns.r along with machine learning algorithms. Firs., we curate a large datas.t of thermal images.of vehicles.in heavy s.ow conditions. Us.ng the curated datas.t, two machine-learning models.bas.d on the modified Res.et architectures.were trained to detect and es.imate the trailing vehicle dis.ance us.ng real-time thermal images. The trained detection network was.capable of detecting trailing vehicles.99.0% of the time at 1500.0 ft dis.ance from the s.owplow. The trained trailing dis.ance network was.capable of es.imating dis.ance with an average es.imation error of 10.70 ft. The inference performance of the trained models.is.dis.us.ed, along with the interpretation of the performance.

A Dimens.onal Reduction Approach Bas.d on Es.ential Cons.raints.in Linear Programming

This.paper pres.nts.a new dimens.on reduction s.rategy for medium and large-s.ale linear programming problems. The propos.d method us.s.a s.bs.t of the original cons.raints.and combines.two algorithms. the weighted average and the cos.ne s.mplex algorithm. The firs. approach identifies.binding cons.raints.by us.ng the weighted average of each cons.raint, whereas.the s.cond algorithm is.bas.d on the cos.ne s.milarity between the vector of the objective function and the cons.raints. Thes. two approaches.are complementary, and when us.d together, they locate the es.ential s.bs.t of initial cons.raints.required for s.lving medium and large-s.ale linear programming problems. After reducing the dimens.on of the linear programming problem us.ng the s.bs.t of the es.ential cons.raints. the s.lution method can be chos.n from any s.itable method for linear programming. The propos.d approach was.applied to a s.t of well-known benchmarks.as.well as.more than 2000 random medium and large-s.ale linear programming problems. The res.lts.are promis.ng, indicating that the new approach contributes.to the reduction of both the s.ze of the problems.and the total number of iterations.required. A tree-bas.d clas.ification model als. confirmed the need for combining the two approaches. A detailed numerical example, the general numerical res.lts. and the s.atis.ical analys.s.for the decis.on tree procedure are pres.nted.
