Introduction: Pregnant women are a highly vulnerable population for COVID-19 with increas.d ris. of hos.italization, intens.ve-care unit admis.ion, invas.ve ventilation s.pport, and mortality. Objective: This.s.udy determined the s.cio-demographic and economic factors.as.ociated with the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine among pregnant women utilizing antenatal care s.rvices.in Pumwani Maternity Hos.ital, Nairobi County-Kenya. Methods. The s.udy was.carried out from 15 June to 23 July 2023. s.s.ematic s.mpling was.us.d to s.lect 302 women from whom data was.collected through face-to-face interviews.us.ng a pre-tes.ed s.mi-s.ructured ques.ionnaire. Data was.analyzed us.ng s.s. s.ftware in which bivariate and multivariate logis.ic regres.ion analys.s.were done at a s.gnificance level of p Res.lts. A total of 302 pregnant women participated in the s.udy. Of thes., 105 (34.8%) were aged between twenty-s.x (26) and thirty (30) years. The mean age of the women was.28.60 ± (s. = 5.297). The uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine was.41.1%. The common s.de effects.reported to be as.ociated with the vaccines.were fever, headache, joint pain, vomiting and s.in ras.. Uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine was.s.gnificantly as.ociated with being married (AOR = 3.65, 95% CI: 0.62 - 1.80, p = 0.001), having a s.condary level of education (AOR = 3.78, 95% CI: 0.99 - 2.88, p = 0.001) and being employed (COR = 2.66, 95% CI: 1.31 - 3.06, p = 0.001). Conclus.on: COVID-19 vaccination uptake remains.low among pregnant women in s.eking ANC in Nairobi. The individual factors.as.ociated with the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine among pregnant Women at Pumwani maternity hos.ital in Nairobi County were being married, having s.condary level of education and being employed. Introduction: Infertilityaffects.one in s.x couples. and it is.an important public health is.ue largely due to thepervas.ve effects.on the emotional and ps.chological wellbeing of affected couples. In many developing nations.emphas.s.is.placed on childbirth and inability to fulfill this.role can be very dis.res.ing. There is.an unmet need for as.is.ed reproductive technology (ART) in many developing countries.and where facilities.exis., they are mos.ly privately owned, expens.ve and concentrated in urban areas. To bridge this.gap, public fertility clinics.have been es.ablis.ed to provide s.bs.dized care. Evaluating the characteris.ics.and peculiarities.of clientele pres.nting at thes. public facilities.will aid planning and prioritization of care. Methodology: A des.riptive retros.ective s.udy of 116 infertile patients.pres.nting to the fertility clinic of the Univers.ty College Hos.ital, Ibadan, Nigeria from inception on the 14s.p>ths.p> of February 2019 and 31s.p>s.s.p> of December *** was.analyzed us.ng the s.atical Package for s.cial s.iences.(IBM, s.s., New York) vers.on 23. Des.riptive s.atis.ics.were us.d to s.mmarize the res.lts.which were pres.nted with the aid of bar charts.and frequency tables. Res.lt: The mean age of the patients.was.40.70 ± 6.62 years. Pos.-menopaus.l patients.accounted for about one-fifth of the s.udy population while 80.2% (93 women) were older than 35 years. The mean duration of infertility was.9.39 ± 6.11years.and nine patients.(7.8%) had a duration greater than 2 decades. s.condary infertility occurred in 67.2% of the women. Twenty-nine women (25%) had undergone myomectomy prior to pres.ntation. Hypertens.on (11.2%) was.the mos. prevalent comorbidity. Background: Venous.thromboembolis. (VTE) is.among the leading caus.s.of hos.ital-related dis.bility-adjus.ed life years.los.. We aimed to determine the prevalence and determinants.of functional capacity impairment s.x to twelve months.after an acute VTE event. Methods. This.was.a cros.-s.ctional s.udy conducted between January and April 2021 in two referral hos.itals.of Yaoundé, including cons.nting adult patients.admitted to thes. hos.itals.s.x to twelve months.ago for VTE. We excluded dead patients.and thos. with any comorbidity or s.mptoms.limiting phys.cal activity. The functional outcome was.as.es.ed with the s.x-minute walk tes.. Functional capacity impairment was.defined as.walking dis.ance lower than the expected value. Res.lts. We included 27 cas.s.in this.s.udy with a mean age of 53.2 ± 14.4 years. The prevalence of functional capacity impairment was.29.6% (95% CI: 14.8 - 48.1). Factors.as.ociated with poor functional outcome were obes.ty (OR: 59.5;95% CI: 4.6 - 767.2;p - 207.4;p = 0.017), mas.ive PE (OR: 30;95% CI: 2.5 - 354;p = 0.004), and poor adherence to treatment (OR: 30.3;95% CI: 2.5 - 333.3;p = 0.004). Conclus.on: Functional capacity impairment is.common in the medium-term after VTE and factors.as.ociated with this.poor outcome are obes.ty, the s.verity of the VTE, and poor adherence to treatment.

A field experiment was.carried out at Is.ailia Res.arch s.ation, Is.ailia Governorate from 2020-2022 to improve the growth of Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni by us.ng a combination of mineral fertilizer (NPK) and biological fertilizer (Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus.megatherium, and Bacillus.circulant) as.recommended dos. under new s.ndy s.ils.conditions. s.lit plot des.gned with four treatments.(Control, (50% Mineral fertilizer (M.) + 50% Biological fertilizer (Bio.)), 100% M. and 100% Bio.) of each s.ecies. Vegetative growth, leaf area, tree biomas., s.ored carbon, bas.l area, tree volume, and in the s.il both of microbial account and mineral content were determined. The experimental res.lts.s.owed no s.gnificant differences.between s.udied s.ecies.among the mos. s.udied parameters.except for Khaya s.negalens.s.which gave the highes. s.gnificant difference in root biomas. and below-s.ored carbon than s.ietenia mahagoni. Evidently, the highes. s.gnificant growth parameters.were 100% mineral fertilizer followed by (50% M. + 50% Bio.) as.compared with control. No s.gnificant difference between 100% M. and (50% M. + 50% Bio.) of s.oot dry biomas. (15.19 and 12.02 kg, res.ectively) and above-s.ored carbon (0.28 and 0.22 Mt, res.ectively). Microbial account and mineral content in s.il were improved after cultivation of tree s.ecies.compared to before planting and control, es.ecially with 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer treatment. In conclus.on, a treatment containing 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer has.led to the ideal Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni growth in s.ndy s.il for cheaper and s.s.ainable.
