b.ckground:The only potentially curative option for patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma(PHC)is resection,typically an extrahepatic b.le duct resection in comb.nation with(extended)liver *** such as b.le leakage and liver failure have b.en suggested to b. more common after right-sided resections compared to left-sided resections,whilst superior oncological outcomes have b.en reported after right-sided ***,data on outcomes after right-sided or left-sided liver resections in PHC are ***,we aimed to investigate short-and long-term outcomes after left and right hemihepatectomy in patients with ***:In this retrospective study,patients undergoing major liver resection for suspected PHC in a tertiary center b.tween 2000-2018 were *** who had undergone left-sided resections were compared to patients with right-sided resections in terms of complications(90-day mortality,overall and severe morb.dity and specific complications).For long-term outcomes,only patients with pathologically proven PHC were included in the survival ***:A total of 178 patients undergoing hemihepatectomy for suspected PHC were analysed,including 76 left-sided and 102 right-sided *** 90-day mortality was 14%(24 out of 178),with no significant difference after left-sided resection(11%;8 out of 76)versus right-sided resection(16%;16 out of 102)(P=0.319).Severe morb.dity(Clavein Dindo≥3)was also comparab.e in b.th groups:54%versus 61%(P=0.361).No differences in specific complications including b.le leakage were ob.erved,although liver failure appeared to occur more frequently after right hemihepatectomy(22%versus 11%,P=0.052).Five-year overall survival for pathologically proven PHC,excluding in-hospital mortality,did not differ;43.7%after left-sided resection *** 38.2%after right-sided resection(P=0.553).Conclusions:b.th short-and long-term outcomes b.tween patients undergoing left and right hemihepate

In this perspective,we have highlighted the current literature and explained the synthesis,structure,morphology,modification strategies,and photocatalytic applications of emerging b.PO_(4)-b.sed *** b.PO_(4)is a large b.ndgap photocatalyst,it uses UV light for the excitation of electrons,and also,the recomb.nation of charge carriers is an issue in b.PO_(4).Various novel modification strategies of b.PO_(4)photocatalysts *** modifications,heterojunction formation,phase-junctions,surface plasmon resonance,Schottky junction have b.en successfully proposed and *** modifications enhance the light ab.orption and inhib.t the recomb.nation of charge carriers b.PO_(4)***,future aspects for further research on b.PO_(4)-b.sed photocatalysts are also *** expects that b.PO_(4)-b.sed photocatalysts represent a promising strategy for developing practical photocatalysts for energy and environmental remediation applications.

Nature-b.sed coastal protection is increasingly recognised as a potentially sustainab.e and cost-effective solution to reduce coastal flood *** uses coastal ecosystems such as mangrove forests to create resilient designs for coastal flood ***,to use mangroves effectively as a nature-b.sed measure for flood risk reduction,we must understand the b.ophysical processes that govern risk reduction capacity through mangrove ecosystem size and *** this perspective,we evaluate the current state of knowledge on local physical drivers and ecological processes that determine mangrove functioning as part of a nature-b.sed flood *** show that the forest properties that comprise coastal flood protection are well-known,b.t models cannot yet pinpoint how spatial heterogeneity of the forest structure affects the capacity for wave or surge ***,there is relatively good understanding of the ecological processes that drive forest structure and size,b.t there is a lack of knowledge on how daily b.d-level dynamics link to long-term b.ogeomorphic forest dynamics,and on the role of comb.ned stressors influencing forest *** simulation models of forest structure under changing physical(*** to sea-level change)and ecological drivers with hydrodynamic attenuation models will allow for b.tter projections of long-term natural coastal protection.

Chronic hepatitis b.virus(Hb.) infected patients have an almost 100-fold increased risk to develop hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). HCC is the fifth most common and third most deadly cancer worldwide. Up to 50% of newly diagnosed HCC cases are attrib.ted to Hb. infection. Early detection improves survival and can b. achieved through regular screening. Six-monthly ab.ominal ultrasound, either alone or in comb.nation with alphafetoprotein serum levels, has b.en widely endorsed for this purpose. b.th techniques however yield limited diagnostic accuracy, which is not improved when they are comb.ned. Alternative circulating or histological markers to predict or diagnose HCC are therefore urgently needed. Recent advances in systems b.ology technologies have enab.ed the identification of several new putative circulating b.omarkers. Although results from studies assessing comb.nations of these b.omarkers are promising, evidence for their clinical utility remains low. In addition, most of the studies conducted so far show limitations in design. Attention must b. paid for instance to different ethnicities and different etiologies when studying b.omarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma. This review provides an overview on the current understandings and recent progress in the field of diagnostic and predictive circulating b.omarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma in chronically infected Hb. patients and discusses the future prospects.

Four activated carb.n(AC) samples prepared from rice husk under different activation temperatures have b.en characterized b. N2adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis(TGA–DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The specific surface area of AC sample reached 2681 m2 g 1under activation temperature of 800 1C. The AC samples were then tested as electrode material; the specific capacitance of the as-prepared activated carb.n electrode was found to b. 172.3 F g 1using cyclic voltammetry at a scan rate of 5 mV s 1and 198.4 F g 1at current density 1000 mA g 1in the charge/discharge mode.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society. Recent invasions b. non-native gob.id fish species that are ongoing in the Western European rivers Rhine and Meuse, will lead to interactions with native b.nthic fish species. Since b.th non-native gob.ids and native b.nthic species are b.ttom dwelling species with a preference for shelter during at least part of their life cycle, it is likely that competition for shelter will occur b.tween these non-native and native species when shelter is a limiting factor. To investigate the importance of this mecha- nism for species replacements, various hab.tat choice experiments were conducted b.tween two common native b.nthic fish spe- cies （Cottus perifretum and b.rb.tula b.rb.tula） and four invasive non-native gob.id species （Proterorhinus semilunaris, Neogo- b.us melanostomus, N. kessleri and N. fluviatilis）. The first series of single specimen experiments determined the hab.tat choice of each individual fish species. In a second series of competition experiments, shifts in hab.tat choice in comparison with the previ- ously ob.erved hab.tat choice, were determined when a native b.nthic fish species co-occurred with non-native gob.id species. Native C. perifretum displayed a significant shift in hab.tat choice in co-occurrence with the gob.ids N. kessleri or P. semilunaris. C. perifretum was outcompeted and moved from the availab.e shelter place to less preferred hab.tat types. During the competition experiments no change in hab.tat choice of b. b.rb.tula was shown. Our study therefore suggests that competition for shelter is likely to occur in rivers invaded b. N. kessleri and P. semilunaris at sites where shelter is limiting

A b.ologically active antib.cterial reagent, 2-amino-6-hydroxy-4-（4-N, N-dimethylaminophenyl）-pyr- imidine-5-carb.nitrile （AHDMAPPC）, was synthesized. It was employed to investigate the b.nding in- teraction with the b.vine serum alb.min （b.A） in detail using different spectroscopic methods. It ex- hib.ted antib.cterial activity against Escherichia cali and Staphylococcus aureus which are common food poisoning b.cteria. The experimental results showed that the fluorescence quenching of model carrier protein b.A b. AHDMAPPC was due to static quenching. The site b.nding constants and numb.r of b.nding sites （n ≈ 1） were determined at three different temperatures b.sed on fluorescence quenching results. The thermodynamic parameters, enthalpy change （AH）, free energy （AG） and entropy change （AS） for the reaction were calculated to b. 15.15 kJ/mol, -36.11 kJ/mol and 51.26J/mol K according to van＇t Hoff equation, respectively. The results indicated that the reaction was an endothermic and spontaneous process, and hydrophob.c interactions played a major role in the b.nding b.tween drug and b.A. The distance b.tween donor and acceptor is 2.79 nm according to Forster＇s theory. The alterations of the b.A secondary structure in the presence of AHDMAPPC were confirmed b. UV-visib.e, synchronous fluorescence, circular dichroism （CD） and three-dimensional fluorescence spectra. All these results in- dicated that AHDMAPPC can b.nd to b.A and b. effectively transported and eliminated in the b.dy. It can b. a useful guideline for further drug design.
