“He lets me go although he does not go with me.”:Rwandan women’s perceptions of men’s roles in maternal health

Background:Increasing men’s involvement in their pregnant partners’wellness has been reported as one of the ways to improve access to and utilization of maternal health services,including birth preparedness and complication *** can play meaningful roles in the support systems that pregnant women need to achieve better maternal health *** Rwanda,the roles that men take vary,resulting in diverse expectations and responsibilities to support the health of women during this critical *** this study,we aimed to examine the views,perspectives,and experiences of women on men’s involvement in maternal health and how this impacts access and utilization of maternal health ***:We conducted 21 interviews with pregnant and recently-pregnant women to gain an understanding of their views on men’s involvement in facilitating their partners’health during *** were conducted across five Rwandan districts in both rural and urban settings of the *** analysis was guided by a thematic analysis *** started with independent transcript review by the investigators,after which a meeting was held to discuss emergent themes and to identify potential codes.A coding scheme was created and transcripts were coded in NVIVO™software according to conceptual and practical topics that formed an understanding of men’s involvement in maternal ***:Three key themes emerged during the analytic process that categorize the specific roles that men play in maternal health:1)facilitating access to maternal health services,which involves assisting women with getting and or attending appointments jointly with men;2)supporting women’s decisions,wherein men can support the decisions women make with regard to their maternal healthcare in a number of ways;and 3)evaluating information,including gathering information from multiple sources,especially from community health workers,to assistwomen with making informed ***:Rwandan me

Sodium fluoride as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 2,4-disubstituted-1,3-thiazoles and selenazoles at ambient temperature

Sodium fluoride was found to be a simple, mild and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 2,4- disuhstituted 1,3-thiazoles and selenazoles utilizing phenacyl bromides/3-（2-bromoacetyl）-2H-chro- men-2-one and thioureaJphenylthiourea/selenourea in aqueous methanol at ambient temperature. Analytically pure products are formed within 1-3 rain in excellent yields.

Neurotrophins have been recognized for decades for their beneficial effects on growth,survival,and maintenance in the central nervous system,all of which suggest potential therapeutic *** understanding and harnessing the activity of neurotrophins has proven difficult,the past several years have seen significant strides in the development of deliverable therapies that modulate neurotrophin activity(Shen et al.,2019;Yang et al.,2020;Xie et al.,2021).These recent studies have primarily focused on the multifunctional p75 neurotrophin receptor(p75NTR)which is upregulated in central nervous system disease and injury,thus offering a unique target for intervention.

Weight losing, antihyperlipidemic and cardioprotective effects of the alkaloid fraction of Hunteria umbellata seed extract on normal and triton-induced hyperlipidemic rats

Objective: To investigate the weight losing, antihyperlipidemic and cardioprotective effects of the alkaloid fraction of Hunteria umbellata(H. umbellata) ***: Adult female Wistar rats(weight range: 120-150 g) were randomly divided into 4 and 5 treatment groups in the normal and triton-induced hyperlipidemic models, respectively. and were daily treated for 14 d before they were humanely sacrificed under inhaled diethyl ether anesthesia. About 5 mL of whole blood was obtained by cardiac puncture from each treated rat, from which serum for lipids assay was subsequently separated. Tissue samples of livers of treated rats were harvested and processed for histopathological ***: Repeated daily oral treatments of normal rats with 25 and 50 mg/kg/day of alkaloid fraction of H. umbellata resulted in significant(P<0.05 and P<0.001) and dose-dependent weight loss, and decreases in the serum triglyceride, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol, while significantly(P<0.001) increased the serum levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol fraction. Similarly, oral pre-treatments with 25 and 50 mg/kg/day of alkaloid fraction of H. umbellata for 14 d before induction of hyperlipidemia with triton WR-1339 significantly(P<0.01, P<0.001) and dose-dependently attenuated increases in the average body weights, serum levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol while also significantly(P<0.01, P<0.001) and dose-dependently attenuated significant(P<0.001) decrease in the serum high-density lipoproteincholesterol levels when compared to the untreated control values. However, the results obtained for 50 mg/kg of alkaloid fraction of H. umbellata in both normal and triton WR-1339-induced hyperlipidemic rats were comparable to that recorded for 20 mg/kg of simvastatin. The worldwide slum population currently stands at over one billion,with substantial growth expected in the coming ***,slums have been mapped using information derived mainly from either physical indicators using remote sensing data,or socio-economic indicators using census *** data source on its own provides only a partial view of slums,an issue further compounded by data poverty in less-developed *** overcome such issues,this paper explores the fusion of traditional with emerging open data sources and data mining tools to identify additional indicators that can be used to detect and map the presence of slums,map their footprint,and map their *** this goal,we develop an indicator database for slums using open sources of physical and socio-economic data that can be used to characterize slum *** this database,we then leverage data mining techniques to identify the most suitable combination of these indicators for mapping *** three cities in Kenya as test cases,results show that the fusion of these data can improve the mapping accuracy of *** results suggest that the proposed approach can provide a viable solution to the emerging challenge of monitoring the growth of slums.

Xanthan Sulfuric Acid： An Efficient Bio-supported and Recy- clable Solid Acid Catalyst for the Synthesis of 2-Aryl Thiadiazolo Benzimidazoles

Xanthan sulfuric acid is an efficient solid acid catalyst for the preparation of 2-aryl benzimidazoles in excellent yields. This method is applicable for the reaction of benzo[c][ 1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,5-diamine with aldehydes by sim- ple physical grinding at room temperature. The salient features of the present methodology is cheaper process, easy synthesis of stable catalyst and the catalyst can be easily recycled without significant loss of activity.

BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)represents a growing public health concern,with patients having higher risk of morbidity and *** has a considerably high prevalence in the general population,estimated 20%-40%in Europe,and is asymptomatic until late in the disease *** is therefore important to identify and validate tools that predict hard outcomes such as mortality for use in clinical practice in risk-stratifying NAFLD *** To evaluate available evidence on the use of non-invasive test(s)as prognostic factors for mortality in *** We performed electronic searches of Medline and EMBASE(Ovid)until 7^(th)January 2021 of studies in NAFLD *** markers included serum biomarkers,non-invasive scoring systems,and non-invasive *** population included all spectrums of disease severity,including NAFLD and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).Outcomes included all-cause,and cardiovascular *** non-invasive tests were synthesised in a narrative systematic ***,we conducted a meta-analysis of non-invasive scoring systems for predicting all-cause and cardiovascular mortality,calculating pooled hazard ratios and 95%confidence(STATA 16.1).RESULTS Database searches identified 2850 studies-24 were included.16 studies reported non-invasive scoring systems,10 studies reported individual biomarkers,and 1 study reported imaging modalities.4 studies on non-invasive scoring systems(6324 participants)had data available for inclusion in the *** non-invasive scoring system that performed best at predicting all-cause mortality was NAFLD fibrosis score(NFS)[pHR 3.07(1.62-5.83)],followed by fibrosis-4 index[pHR 3.06(1.54-6.07)],BARD[pHR 2.87(1.27-6.46)],and AST to platelet ratio index[pHR 1.90(1.32-2.73)].NFS was also prognostic of cardiovascular-related mortality[pHR 3.09(1.78-5.34)].CONCLUSION This study reaffirms that non-invasive scoring systems,especially NFS,are reliable prognostic mark
