Investigation of radio pulsar emission features using power spectra

Since 2013, round-the-clock monitoring of the sky has been carried out simultaneously in 96 beams using a high-sensitivity radio telescope called the Large Phased Array （LPA） at the frequency 110.25 MHz. These observations are made under the program of interplanetary plasma investigation. The same data are used to search for pulsars by means of power spectra. To increase the sensitivity of the pulsar search, 500-600 power spectra corresponding to different days of observations are summed. In the integrated spectra of known pulsars, besides expected improvement in signal-to-noise （S/N） ratio for the frequency harmonics, some features are explored in this paper. We present the 27 strongest pulsars which are in a field with declination 21° - 42°. The observable details in the integrated power spectra are connected with the presence of pulsar periods of the second （P2） and third （P3） class, which have been identified. Empirical relations for calculating these periods are obtained. The value P2 is estimated for 26 pulsars, and for 15 sources it is made for the first time. The value P3 is estimated for 13 pulsars, among them these values are given for five sources for the first time.

Solar radiophysics is a rapidly developing branch of solar physics and plasma astrophysics. Solar radiophysics has the goal of analyzing observations of radio emissions from the Sun and understanding basic physical processes operating in quiet and active regions of the solar corona. In the near future, the commissioning of a new generation of solar radio observational facilities, which include the Chinese Spectral Radio Heliograph（CSRH） and the upgrade of the Siberian Solar Radio Telescope（SSRT）, and the beginning of solar observations with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array（ALMA）, is expected to bring us new breakthrough results of a transformative nature. The Marie-Curie International Research Staff Exchange（MC IRSES） “RadioSun” international network aims to create a solid foundation for the successful exploitation of upcoming solar radio observational facilities, as well as intensive use of the existing observational tools, advanced theoretical modeling of relevant physical processes and observables, and training a new generation of solar radio physicists. The RadioSun network links research teams from China,Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and the UK. This mini-volume presents research papers based on invited reviews and contributed talks at the 1st RadioSun workshop in China. These papers cover a broad range of research topics and include recent observational and theoretical advances in solar radiophysics, MHD seismology of the solar corona, physics of solar flares, generation of radio emission, numerical modeling of MHD and plasma physics processes, charged-particle acceleration and novel instrumentation.

BackgroundCalcific aortic stenosis （AS） is an active process sharing similarities with atherosclerosis and chronic inflammation. The pathophysiology of AS is notable for three cardinal components： inflammation, fibrosis and calcification. Monocytes play a role in each of these processes. The role of circulating monocytes in AS is not clear. The aim of the present study was to study an association between cir-culating apoptotic and non apoptotic CD14＋ monocytes and AS *** assessed the number of CD14＋ monocytes and apoptotic monocytes in 54 patients with significant AS （aortic valve area 0.74 ± 0.27 cm2） and compared them to 33 patients with similar risk factors and no valvular disease. The level of CD14＋ monocytes and apoptotic monocytes was assessed by flow *** was no difference in the risk factor profile and known coronary or peripheral vascular diseases between patients with AS and ***-tients with AS exhibited increased numbers of CD14＋ monocytes as compared to controls （9.9% ± 4.9%vs. 7.7% ± 3.9%,P= 0.03）. CD14＋ monocyte number was related to age and the presence and severity of AS. In patients with AS, both CD14＋ monocytes and apoptotic mono-cytes were inversely related to aortic valve *** with significant AS have increased number of circulating CD14＋ monocytes and there is an inverse correlation between monocyte count and aortic valve area. These findings may suggest that inflammation is operative not only in early valve injury phase, but also at later developed stages such as calcification when AS is severe.
