Background:Health personnel face challenges in diagnosing vector-borne and other diseases of poverty in urban *** is a need to know what rapid diagnostic technologies are available,have been properly assessed,and are being implemented to improve control of these diseases in the urban *** paper characterizes evidence on the field validation and implementation in urban areas of rapid diagnostics for vector-borne diseases and other diseases of *** body:A scoping review was ***-reviewed and grey literature were searched using terms describing the targeted infectious diseases,diagnostics evaluations,rapid tests,and urban *** review was limited to studies published between 2000 and 2016 in English,Spanish,French,and *** and exclusion criteria were refined post hoc to identify relevant literature regardless of study design and geography.A total of 179 documents of the 7806 initially screened were included in the ***(n=100)and tuberculosis(n=47)accounted for the majority of studies that reported diagnostics performance,impact,and implementation *** studies,assessing mainly performance,were identified for visceral leishmaniasis(n=9),filariasis and leptospirosis(each n=5),enteric fever and schistosomiasis(each n=3),dengue and leprosy(each n=2),and Chagas disease,human African trypanosomiasis,and cholera(each n=1).Reported sensitivity of rapid tests was variable depending on several ***,specificities were high(>80%),except for schistosomiasis and *** and implementation outcomes,mainly acceptability and cost,followed by adoption,feasibility,and sustainability of rapid tests are being evaluated in the *** to implementing rapid tests range from cultural to technical and administrative ***:Rapid diagnostic tests for vector-borne and other diseases of poverty are being used in the urban context with demonstrated impact on case ***

INTEGRAL REpRESENTATION OF SLOWLY GROWING EQUIDISTANT SpLINES

In this paper we consider polynomial splines S(x) with equidistant nodes which may grow a5 O (|x|~5). We present an integral representation of such splines with a distribution kernel. This repre- sentation is related to the Fourier integral of slowly growing functions. The part of the Fourier ex- ponentials herewith play the so called exponential splines by Schoenberg. The integral representation provides a flexible tool for dealing with the growing equidistant splines. First. it allows us to con- struct a rich library of splines possessing the property that translations of any such spline form a ba- sis of corresponding spline space. It is shown that any such spline is associated with a dual spline whose translations form a biorthogonal basis. As examples we present solutions of the problems of projection of a growing function onto spline spaces and of spline interpolation of growing func- tion. We derive formulas for approximate evaluation of splines projecting a function onto the spline space and establish therewith exact estimations of the approximation errors.

Cooling of Granules in Vibrating, Suspended Bed: Engineering Simulation

Here we suggest an algorithm for calculation of the process parameters and design of a vertical cooler with inclined, gas-permeable blades and with a vibrating, suspended layer of granules on them (Vibrating Fluidized Bed—VFB). The algorithm is based on the use of the equations of heat and material balance, taking into account the influx of moisture into the layer with cold air and dust—as a carryover. Mode entrainment of dust particles and moisture from the VFB is described by using empirical formulas and Π-theorem. To calculate the cooling time of granules a model of the dynamics of a variable mass VFB was built, which linked the geometrical and physical process parameters to a single dependency. An example showed that mass flow of granules of 248 kg/h and a volume flow of air of 646 mp>3p>/h with temperature of 30℃ to cool the zeolite granules from 110℃ to 42℃ for 49 s required a vertical apparatus of rectangular shape with four chambers and with volume of 0.2 mp>3p>. A comparative analysis of technological parameters of the projected cooler with the parameters of typical industrial apparatuses showed that for all indicators: the cooling time of granules, the flow rate of gas (air) and the heat flow, a 4-chambered, vertical apparatus of rectangular shape with VFB was the most effective.

The first way to identify the needle in relation to the peripheral nerve W. Halsted and R. Hall in 1884 performed the first regional blockade (using direct visualization). However, Vassily von Anrep was a few months earlier described the blockade of the peripheral nerve by anatomical landmarks. In 1912, the blockade of the brachial plexus was first performed using electrical stimulation, but this technique has been widely used only since 1962. The most popular way to identify the needle relative to the nerve at the moment remains US guidance. A promising direction may be optical coherence tomography. But this method is under development. In the last decade, a method for determining the pressure of a local anesthetic has been introduced into practice to determine the position of the needle relative to the nerve.

Effect of Corporate Debt on Firm Value

We have shown that three classic works considering the effects of corporate debt on the firm value,namely,Modigliani and Miller(1958,1963),Merton(1974),and Leland(1994),are *** main mistake is ignoring the business security expenses,*** suggest the model taking account of BSEs and apply it to the analysis of debt influence on the firm value and *** modeling demonstrates that(1)the debt affects the firm value and its survival,(2)this influence is negative,diminishing the firm value and its chances to survive,(3)the pressure of the negative effect of debt increases as the debt grows,provoking the firm *** debt can be beneficial for the firm if the loan is taken to improve its *** model helps estimate the chances to succeed in the technological modernization for various parameters of the firm and its business environment;and by that,to find the technology most suitable for the *** is shown that there is a serious problem in reading the market signals concerning a firm and using this information to control this firm.

Credit Risk Model Taking Account of Inflation and Its Contribution to Macroeconomic Discussion on Effect of Inflation on Output Growth

Origin and development of homoiothermy: A case study of avian energetics

The study is based on the results of the integrated measurement of the energy expenditure at rest and common activity in birds belonging to various systematic groups. Homeothermy has formed in birds and mammals independently and in different geological ages. However, in both groups it originated as a side effect of selection for aerobic metabolism improvement that provided a higher level of activity. Advantages of having high and stable body temperature, which were inevitably related with metabolism intensification, led to development of thermoregulatory adaptations such as fur and feathers. This made it possible to retain the metabolically generated heat and reduce heat absorption in hot environments. Emergence of homeothermy with aerobic supply of motion activity, possibilities to regulate the level of metabolism and thermal conductance, has opened a lot of opportunities for homoeothermic animals. Achieving such a level of energy utilization allowed them to maintain activity for a longer time, while its sensory support led to complication and diversification of birds’ behavioral repertoire (as well as that of mammals) facilitating the conquest of almost entire part of the biosphere that was suitable for living. This process was favored by the development of nurturing and passing on the information, collected throughout the life, to new generations. Formation of high levels of aerobic metabolism in birds and mammals was proceeding in parallel among different groups of reptilian ancestors. The level of homeothermy, at which aerobic metabolism was able to maintain prolonged activity, developed in birds and mammals in different ways: they had got dissimilar partitioning of venous and arterial networks, erythrocytes with or without a cell nucleus, different lungs design—but, at that, similar minimum metabolic power and rather close body temperatures which corresponded well to the environmental conditions on the Earth. Mass Transfer in a Centrifugal Turbine Agitator-pump

This article is a continuation of the research, centering on a vacuum-filtration system, which is designed to reduce the concentration of calcium in water;a process is also known as—water softening. The problem of solving the concentration distribution of the initial (embryonic) particles of CaCO3-particles, which were introduced into the limited volume of the apparatus with a turbine agitator-pump, is addressed through the use of diffusion and deterministic-stochastic models of mass transfer. The solution of the extreme problem allows determining the most important process parameters, such as time of dispersions homogenization and the dispersion mass flow rate to the surface of a special filter. For these parameters a comparative analysis of the adequacy of the theory was found through experiments, performed in the study. We found that uniform distribution of concentrations along the height of the apparatus is achieved by the angular velocity of the rotation 400 rpm for the turbine with 6 - 7 blades at the time of homogenization 14s. In this case, the dispersion mass flow to the surface of the cylindrical filter is 3 50 mg/s at an average concentration of the introduced CaCO3 particles, which is equal to 10 g/L. We determined that the accuracy of the results depends on: the coordinates of the material input in the apparatus volume, the surface shape of the filter and the volumetric flow rate of the liquid (water), being discarded by the turbine blades in the normal direction to their surface.
