Electrochemiluminescence(ECL)has attracted considerable interest for many applications such as microscopy,(bio)analysis,light-emitting materials or *** this work,we report the fabrication and characterization of ECL-active hydrogel films with tunable *** redox films were prepared by electrochemically-assisted radical polymerization by potential cycling of a PBS solution containing the monomer N-isopropylacrylamide,the initiator potassium persulfate,the cross-linker N,N′-methylenebis(acrylamide)and the Ru(bpy)3 *** deposits were easily prepared in a rapid and well-controlled one-step *** resulting homogeneous films are composed of a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(pNIPAM)matrix,which incorporates covalently[Ru(bpy)_(3)]^(2+)*** thickness and the number of ECL-active sites is tuned by control-ling the number of voltammetric *** deposited pNIPAM films are permeable to water-soluble chemicals such as the coreactant tri-n-propylamine(TPrA).The voltammetric characterization shows a continuous increase of the number of redox-active *** indicate that ECL signals are proportional to the number of electrodeposited[Ru(bpy)_(3)]^(2+)*** approach combining ECL and stimuli-responsive hydrogels open exciting prospects for developing new(bio)sensing materials.

BACKGROUND: Some patients with colorectal carcinoma have liver metastases(LMs) which cannot be detected by conventional imaging. This study aimed to assess whether hepatic perfusion changes induced by micrometastases can be detected by perfusion computed tomography(CT).METHODS: LMs were produced in rats by injecting carcinoma cells into the portal vein. Perfusion CT was performed at microscopic(day 10), interval(day 17), and macroscopic stage(day 34). Perfusion parameters were computed using a dualinput one-compartmental ***: Micro and macro LMs presented a mean diameter of 0.5 and 2.6 mm, respectively. Compared to controls, LMs at interval(1.1 mm) and macroscopic stage induced significant perfusion changes: a decrease of 42%(P=0.004) and 41%(P=0.029) in hepatic transit time and an increase of 292%(P=0.073) and 240%(P=0.001) in portal delay, ***: LMs with a mean diameter between 1.1 and2.6 mm induced significant hepatic perfusion changes, detected by CT. Such detection may help to select patients and propose chemotherapy at the time of primary tumor resection.

The type 2 DNA topoisomerases(Top2)are conserved enzymes and biomarkers for cell *** catalytic activities of the human isoform Top2a are essential for the regulation of DNA topology during DNA replication,transcription,and chromosome ***2a is a prominent target for anti-cancer drugs and is highly regulated by post-translational modifications(PTM).Despite an increasing number of proteomic studies,the extent of PTM in cancer cells and its importance in drug response remains largely *** this review,we highlight the different modifications affecting the human Top2a in healthy and cancer cells,taking advantage of the structure-function information accumulated in the past *** also overview the regulation of Top2a by PTM,the level of PTM in cancer cells,and the resistance to therapeutic compounds targeting the Top2 ***,this review underlines the importance of future studies addressing more systematically the interplay between PTM and Top2 drug resistance.

This paper addresses the topic of the conceptual design of a regional aircraft with hybrid electric propulsion based on hydrogen fuel *** aims at providing an optimization-based method to design a hybrid propulsive system comprising two power sources(jet fuel and hydrogen)for the generation of the required propulsive power and at studying the impact of fuel cell technologies on the aircraft ***,by performing optimizations for two hybrid propulsive systems using either low temperature or high temperature proton-exchange membrane fuel cells,this study provides a preliminary assessment of the impact of the fuel cell operating temperature on the system design and the overall aircraft ***,this paper gives a description of the baseline turboprop regional aircraft with a focus on its high speed and low speed flight performances which will serve as requirements for the design of the hybrid ***,the hybrid electric architecture and the sizing models of the propulsion system are ***,optimizations are performed to design two parallel hybrid propulsive systems based on different fuel cells technologies and aimed at minimizing the block fuel per passenger over a mission of 200 n *** show how the proposed methodology and models lead to design two propulsive systems capable of reducing the fuel consumption per passenger by more than 30%compared to the baseline *** study also shows that the choice of fuel cell operating temperature has a first-order impact on the total mass.

It is well established in experimental animals and Humans that endothelial cells,which cover the luminal surface of all blood vessels,have a pivotal role in the control of vascular *** protective effect of endothelial cells is mostly due to their ability to respond to circulating hormones,autacoids,blood-and platelet-derived factors,and also to blood flow by inducing potent vasoprotectivemechanismsincluding predominantlythe formation of nitric oxide(NO),and,often also to some extent,endothelium-derived hyperpolarization,and prostacyclin(PGI2).Besides being a potent vasodilator,NO also effectively prevents platelet activation and has anti-thrombotic and anti-atherosclerotic *** endothelial dysfunction characterized by a reduced generation of these endothelium-dependent vasodilator mechanisms associated with vascular oxidative stress and the formation of endothelium-derived contracting factors such as contractile prostanoids is often observed in most types of cardiovascular diseases including hypertension,hypercho⁃lesterolemia,diabetes,and also during physiological ageing in both experimental animals and ***-derived polyphenols such as those from grapes,tea,cocoa,and berries have been shown to stimulate the endothelial formation of NO by activating the Src/PI3-kinase/Akt-dependent phosphorylation of endothelial NO synthase(eNOS)and to enhance eNOS *** a consequence,the active polyphenols will promote a sustained forma⁃tion of NO that contributes to protect the vascular ***-rich products have also been shown to improve an established endothelial dysfunction and to delay the onset of the induction of an endothelial dysfunction in several experimental models of cardiovascular diseases including hypertension and in ***,endothelial senescence characterized by cell cycle arrest and the acquisition of a pro-inflammatory and pro-atherothrombotic phenotype has been identified as an early event promotingthe

AIM: To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) in assessing the ablation zone after liver tumor ***: Twenty-three patients(17 men and 6 women, range: 45-85 years old, mean age 65 years) with malignant liver tumors underwent ultrasoundguided percutaneous tumor ablation [radiofrequency(n = 14), microwave(n = 9)] followed by intravenous contrast-enhanced CBCT. Baseline multidetector computed tomography(MDCT) and peri-procedural CBCT images were compared. CBCT image quality was assessed as poor, good, or excellent. Image fusion was performed to assess tumor coverage, and quality of fusion was rated as bad, good, or excellent. Ablation zone volumes on peri-procedural CBCT and post-procedural MDCT were compared using the nonparametric paired Wilcoxon ***: Rate of primary ablation effectiveness was 100%. There were no complications related to ablation. Local tumor recurrence and new liver tumors were found 3 mo after initial treatment in one patient(4%). The ablation zone was identified in 21/23(91.3%) patients on CBCT. The fusion of baseline MDCT and peri-procedural CBCT images was feasible in all patients and showed satisfactory tumor coverage(at least 5-mm margin). CBCT image quality was poor, good, and excellent in 2(9%), 8(35%), and 13(56%), patients respectively. Registration quality between periprocedural CBCT and post-procedural MDCT images was good to excellent in 17/23(74%) patients. The median ablation volume on peri-procedural CBCT and post-procedural MDCT was 30 cm3(range: 4-95 cm3) and 30 cm3(range: 4-124 cm3), respectively(P-value > 0.2). There was a good correlation(r = 0.79) between the volumes of the two techniques. CONCLUSION: Contrast-enhanced CBCT after tumor ablation of the liver allows early assessment of the ablation zone.
