Association between Children’s Appetite Patterns and Maternal Feeding Practices

This study explored associations between children’s appetites and maternal feeding practices. The participants, 614 parents of 3- to 6-year-old children from kindergartens in Tokyo, Japan, completed self-administered questionnaires. The children’s appetites were measured using the Enjoyment of Food (EF) and Food Responsiveness (FR) scales of the Child Eating Behaviour Questionnaire. Using cluster analysis, we examined three appetite patterns (“both low,” “high EF and low FR,” and “both high”). The three appetite patterns were associated with children’s obesity index. The “both low” pattern was associated with the highest maternal pressure to eat. The “high EF and low FR” patterns were related to an established snack time. The “both high” pattern was associated with higher maternal instrumental feeding compared with the “high EF and low FR” types. The results of this study will facilitate the development of targeted interventions and better parental guidance on maternal feeding practices and their association with children’s eating behaviours.

AIM:To establish an animal model with human hepatocyte-repopulated liver for the study of liver cancer ***:Cell transplantation into mouse livers was conducted using alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)-producing hu-man gastric cancer cells(h-GCCs) and h-hepatocytes as donor cells in a transgenic mouse line expressing urokinase-type plasminogen activator(uPA) driven by the albumin enhancer/promoter crossed with a severe combined immunodeficient(SCID) mouse line(uPA/SCID mice).Host mice were divided into two groups(A and B).Group A mice were transplanted with h-GCCs alone,and group B mice were transplanted with h-GCCs and h-hepatocytes *** replacement index(RI),which is the ratio of transplanted h-GCCs and h-hepatocytes that occupy the examined area of a histological section,was estimated by measuring h-AFP and h-albumin concentrations in sera,respectively,as well as by immunohistochemical analyses of h-AFP and human cytokeratin 18 in histological ***:The h-GCCs successfully engrafted,repopulated,and colonized the livers of mice in group A(RI = 22.0% ± 2.6%).These mice had moderately differentiated adenocarcinomatous lesions with disrupted glandular structures,which is a characteristics feature of gastric *** serum h-AFP level reached 211.0 ± 142.2 g/mL(range,7.1-324.2 g/mL).In group B mice,the h-GCCs and h-hepatocytes independently engrafted,repopulated the host liver,and developed colonies(RI = 12.0% ± 6.8% and 66.0% ± 12.3%,respectively).h-GCC colonies also showed typical adenocarcinomatous glandular structures around the *** mice survived for the full 56 day-study and did not exhibit any metastasis of h-GCCs in the extrahepatic regions during the observational *** mice with an h-hepatocyte-repopulated liver possessed metastasized h-GCCs and therefore could be a useful humanized liver animal model for studying liver cancer metastasis in ***:A novel animal model of human liver cancer metastas

Analysis of the Personality, Motivation, Ability, and Environment Affecting Creativity in Japanese Business

Recently, there have been only a few quantitative researches on creativity in business especially in Japan, although creativity is important for business performance. This paper aims to clarify the factors which affect creativity in business. Judging from previous researches, it can be classified that the factors probably associate with creativity into four categories: personality, ability, motivation, and environment. This paper can also aim to verify that CF (creativity factor) could be better predictors for business performance than IQ (intelligence quotient) test score (IQ score). Accordingly, the authors hypothesize that: (1) CF can be found in any factors of personality, ability, motivation, or environment; and (2) CF correlates more closely with performance than IQ score. The authors requested 303 respondents to answer Web-based questionnaires consisting of 565 questions within a set period of time. The respondents belong to sales divisions in Japanese venture businesses. Their supervisors evaluated their creativity using a five-point scale. The authors used their supervisors" evaluation as a criterion variable of creativity to build a multi-regression analysis model. The results showed that the factors, "independence and activeness" and "exciting" are 5% statistically significant accelerators in the "personality" category; In the "ability", "new combination of ideas", and "decision-making speed" significantly accelerate creativity; In the "motivation", "interest of work", "positive feedback (negative)", and "reward for work" significantly accelerate creativity. In the "environment", there are five significant accelerators, such as "excellent colleague", "criticism of ideas", "autonomy", "conservative atmosphere", and an impediment, such as "excessive workload". Although CF does not correlate with IQ score, it partially correlates with both the TTCT (Torrance Test for Creative Thinking) score and the performance of the respondents. The authors present the case of a 55-year-old male with a stage Ⅲ(T4N1M0) squamous-cell esophageal carcinoma, who underwent percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy(PEG). The pull method of tube placement was used. Five months after the procedure, the patient was referred to the hospital with a hard palpable tumour at the ostomy site. The hystologic exam revealed an abdominal wall metastasis of the esophageal cancer. The authors present this case because of the rarity of metastasis in ostomy after placement of PEG in patients with tumours located in the head and neck. In this particular context and judging by the rarity of situation, the clinical impact of this phenomenom is limited. Nevertheless, metastasis in ostomy site could be prevented by the push method, laparoscopy or laparotomy.

Assessment of the Anaerobic Speed Reserve during Specific High-Intensity Exercise in Judo Athletes

Purpose This study aimed to describe self-selected intensity and its relationship to performance during a high-intensity all-out judo protocol,and to verify whether athletes with different anaerobic speed reserve(ASR)perform differently during a high-intensity all-out interval uchi-komi(judo-specific skill).Methods We analyzed the performance of 28 judo athletes as a whole group and divided into groups,according to their *** performed several judo-specific protocols using a specific skill:maximal speed sprint(MSS)and maximal aerobic speed(MAS),and high-intensity intermittent uchi-komi protocol(12×20 s all-out:10 s passive recovery).Results The main results demonstrated a decrease in the number of repetitions and an increase in heart rate across the *** with greater ASR performed a higher number of repetitions,compared to the low ASR group,and they were able to exercise at a higher percentage of the MAS(low ASR=126%;SD=13%;high ASR=152%,SD=l9%)and at a lower percentage of MSS compared to the low ASR group(low ASR=84%,SD=7%;high ASR=76%,SD=11%).However,both groups exercised at a similar percentage of their own ASR during the protocol(low ASR=50%,SD=20%;high ASR=53%,SD=19%).Conclusions Athletes with different ASR seem to set their pace at around 50%of their ASR within an all-out uchi-komi ***,the ASR is useful for predicting performance during high-intensity judo-specific interval exercise intervals.

This paper concerns the traveling wave formation in macroscopic traffic flow models. The dynamics involved in this problem is described following a close analogy to compressible fluid dynamics. It is well known that vehicle clusters appear along a highway when the homogenous steady state taken as a reference is linearly unstable. The cluster properties are determined in an approximate way in terms of the parameters proper to each model and are compared between them.

An explanation is given for the thermal equilibrium in the biosphere, which is based in the equality between the thermal energy received from the sun and the thermal energy reemitted from the atmosphere to the space. In order to understand the origin of the energy that gives rise to the processes and phenomena taking place in the biosphere, it is necessary to take into account the free energy represented by the product of temperature times the change in entropy, T△S, whose magnitude can be attributed to the variation experimented by the wavelengths (or, consequently, the frequencies) of the radiations composing the radiation spectrum received from the sun compared with the radiation spectrum reemitted from the biosphere into the space. A simple discussion allows to predict that the entropy increase driving the processes is connected with a spontaneous conversion of high frequency radiations (with lower “content” of entropy) in radiations of lower frequencies (with higher “content” of entropy). A consequence of this is that high frequency radiations would correspond to more ordered states and, therefore, to less probable states than those corresponding to radiations of lower frequencies.

We first recall the sufficient conditions for the existence of a periodic output of a modified Elman neural network with a periodic input found by using Mawhin’s continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory. Using this result, we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of a periodic output for an output hidden feedback Elman neural network with a periodic input. Examples illustrating these sufficient conditions are given.
