In this study, the optimum insulation thickness of the external walls of the housing and it’s energy saving and environmental impact in the provinces—Ardahan, aydin, Eskisehir and Samsun—located in four different climate regions of Turkey was calculated for the expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials. Natural gas and coal were selected as fuels. Ardahan in the coldest climate region and aydin in the hottest climate region, for the coal and optimum thickness of expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials, the reduction of CO2 and SO2 emissions. In the study, the relations between annual energy cost saving and insulation thickness are given. The value of energy cost saving increases up to optimum insulation thickness and beyond this level, the energy cost saving is decreased. For coal and optimum thickness of expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials, the energy cost savings was higher for the cold climate regions when it was compared with the hot climate regions.

Understanding how tree species respond to drought in their natural environment is needed to predict forest adaptation and management practices under global environmental *** study was carried out to determine and compare physiological and biochemical responses to variations in environmental conditions during summer drought of mixed natural stands of Pinus nigra ***(Lamb.)Holmboe and Pinus brutia *** xylem water potential(ψmd),water relations,photosynthetic pigments,total soluble sugar and proline contents were investigated during the growing season.ψmd followed a similar seasonal trend in both species but *** *** had higher ψmd than *** ψmd gradually decreased from June,reached its lowest value in August,and then increased *** decreases in the osmotic potential at turgor loss point(ψnTLP)were observed during the ***,ψnTLP was lower in *** soluble sugars decreased from April to June for ***,then increased and stayed relatively constant August to *** changes were found at lower values in *** *** accumulation and photosynthetic pigments were higher in *** results indicate that physiological and biochemical responses of both species against changing environmental conditions were in different degrees but followed similar *** *** is more sensitive to summer drought than *** in their natural environment.

Background: There are few studies on the cost of glaucoma management in developing country, especially in Togo, there are no data on the cost of POAG management. Aims: To determine the annual direct cost of the management of POAG, to evaluate the annual economic weight of the management of POAG and to determine the factors associated with the annual economic weight of the management. Methods: We conducted a retrospective and descriptive study over a period of 12 months from January 1 to December 31, 2019 based on the records of patients followed for POAG in AFIA Eye Clinic in Lomé-Togo. The annual direct cost was defined by the sum of the costs of consultations, explorations and treatments. We defined the direct cost per patient and per year and related to the average annual income. It was said to be catastrophic at 20% or more of the estimated annual income. Chi 2 and Fisher tested the comparison of proportions. We conducted univariate and multivariate logistic regression to search correlations. Results: During the study period, 150 patient records were included. The average age was 47.24 ± 17.09 years and the sex ratio was 0.82. The cost of the diagnosis was 112.18 ± 22.26 €. The average cost of consultations was 19.46 ± 11.35 € and that of explorations was 92.71 ± 10.91 €. The annual cost of treatment per patient was 165.52 ± 110.16 €. The annual global direct cost of POAG management per patient was 277.69 ± 132.42 €. Compared to the annual income of 1166.29 €, the economic weight of the glaucoma management was 23.8%. This direct cost was catastrophic for 32.1% of patients in the study (44/150 of people with no care). Compared to the guaranteed inter-professional minimum wage (SMIG) of 640.30 €, the economic direct cost weight was 43.3%. Objectives: The aim of the present study was to analyze the recovery rate of symptoms in patients with adenoid hypertrophy and investigate the role of nasal pathologies, allergy and gastroesophageal reflux (GER) as the reason of failure in patients with persistent symptoms. Patients and Methods: Patients undergoing adenoidectomy were enrolled in this study. There were 58 males and 42 females, aged between 1 - 13 years (mean ± SD: 4.9 ± 2.2 years). The parents of each child were questioned about the following symptoms;apnea, nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, snoring and nasal discharge. Presence or absence of nasal obstruction due to septal deviation and/or chonchal hypertrophy was noted. All children were evaluated for GER by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or pH monitorization and for allergy by specific IgE analysis or skin prick test. Three months after the operation the children were re-examined and their parents were interviewed about persistent symptoms. Patients with persistent symptoms were re-evaluated with rigid endoscopy for residual adenoid vegetation. Results: Apnea was cleared in the entire group postoperatively. However, 9 patients complained of nasal obstruction, 16 patients had mouth breathing, 9 patients had snoring and 17 patients continued to have nasal discharge two months after the operation. Statistical assessment showed a significant difference for each symptom between the pre- and postoperative level (p Conclusions: Adenoidectomy alone is an effective treatment for nasal obstruction and obstructive sleep symptoms in children. Persistent obstructive symptoms are usually due to nasal pathology and allergy.

The thermal decompositions of polystyrene (PS), poly(p-methyl styrene) (PMS), poly(p-bromo styrene) (PBrS), and poly(p-chloro styrene) (PClS) were investigated through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). For this aim, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method was applied to derivative thermogravimetric (DTG) curves. Continuous distribution kinetics was employed with a stoichiometric kernel to determine the rate coefficients for decomposition reactions. TGA data for the polymers were investigated by nonlinear fitting procedures that yielded activation energies and frequency factors for the combined chemical reactions. The reaction order values of PS derivatives are just about 1 in the nonisothermal decomposition process. Ea values for PS, PMS, and PClS increase with % conversion individually as they decrease in the order of PS/PMS/PClS which is consistent with the molecular weight increase. On the other hand, PBrS has the highest activation energy. Also its activation energy decreases with the % conversion. Thus it is suggested that PBrS degrades with somehow different mechanism.

Chemical composition of the bark extracts of Coula edulis was investigated to find potential antioxidant,anti-termite and antifungal compounds which can find useful applications in the fields of food,nutraceuticals,cosmetics or *** screening revealed the presence of several groups of active molecules such as alkaloids,polyphenols,flavonoids,saponins and sterols and/or terpenes in the different *** phenols,condensed tannins and flavonoids contents corroborated phytochemical *** chromatographymass spectrometry(GC-MS)analysis revealed compounds in dichloromethane extract different from those obtained with all the other *** and trans-9-octadecenoic acids,as well as stigmasterol andβ-sitosterol have been identified as the major compounds in the dichloromethane *** obtained with acetone and toluene/ethanol mixture(2/1,v/v)indicated the presence of few amounts of fatty acids and sugars,catechin in small amount and huge amounts of phenolic acids like gallic and ellagic *** radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyle(DPPH)and the cationic radical 2,2’-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)(ABTS+)were used for evaluation of antioxidant properties of the different *** dichloromethane extracts had a very low antioxidant activity,while acetone and toluene/ethanol extracts presented EC50 values similar to those of catechin and BHT used as reference antioxidant *** of the different extracts of the bark of *** on fungal growth inhibition indicated better inhibition of the mycelium growth of brown rot fungi compared to white rot *** anti-termite activities were recorded with the aqueous extracts,while stronger activities were recorded with dichloromethane,acetone and toluene/ethanol extracts.

Turkey is an area where climate changes immediately, vegetation, or land gets different in a short distance. Geological and lithological features show diversity. Also, our country’s territorial existence and diversity also bring about different land use conditions. Therefore, land capability also differs from each other. Nevertheless, the classification of land capability used in Turkey is the classification of land capability for agricultural lands prepared by the United States (USA) in 1961. Due to this, [1] have made suggestion on a new classification of land capability considering our country’s geographical conditions. In this study, comparing the land capability with the classification carrying out in our country, the classification which Atalay and Gündüzoğlu suggested, has been aimed. Working method has been established according to regional approach and field observations have been done. In preparing the cartographical material, ArcGIS 10.3 has been used. The map of this study as a material topography, physical map, slope, aspect, the usage of the land, ground, geology, land capability, geomorphology, temperature, and precipitation has been examined, meteorological data have been appreciated. According to the findings attained, Eskişehir’s map of land capability has been done through the criteria of the suggestions of Atalay and Gündüzoğlu. As a result, it has been understood that there is a difference between the USA land capability that applied in Eskişehir and Atalay and Gündüzoğlu’s criteria. In the study, it is suggested to determine the land capabilities again considering the ecological conditions of Turkey.

Crescentic glomerulonephritis in children:a single centre experience

Background:Crescentic glomerulonephritis(CsGN)is characterized by crescents in 50%or more of glomeruli and clinically by a sudden and progressive decline in renal ***:We evaluated the etiology,clinical features,prognostic factors and long-term outcome of *** January 2000 and December 2010,45 children(26 girls,19 boys)with biopsy-proven CsGN(>50%crescents)were investigated ***:The mean age of the patients was 130.86±33.77 *** mean duration of symptoms prior to diagnosis was 26±12 days(4-40 days).Most of the children had hypertension(62.2%),macroscopic hematuria(73.3%),oligoanuria(44.4%),edema(51.1%)and purpuric rash(40%)at *** final clinical status of the patients was complete remission(n=21),partial remission(n=5)or chronic kidney disease(n=19).Adverse outcomes were significantly associated with a long duration between the onset of symptoms and treatment(P=0.038),the presence of oligoanuria(P=0.006),a severe decreased glomerular filtration rate(GFR75%)(P=0.03),and the ratio of fi brous crescents(P=0.015).Conclusion:The outcome of CsGN in children continues to be poor,and it should be treated as a renal emergency.

Introduction: In the general population as well as in the workplace, hypertension is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. The particularities of hypertension in the world of work remain little studied. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with hypertension among workers in a town hall in Benin in 2019. Methods: This was a descriptive, analytical cross-sectional study conducted from December 2018 to January 2019. A comprehensive recruitment was conducted. Data were collected during a face-to-face interview, supplemented by measurement of anthropometric parameters and blood pressure as well as a work stress assessment. Frequencies were compared using the chi-square test and Fisher’s test. The significance level was 5%. Results: A total of 86 workers were included. Their mean age was 41.55 ± 9.82 years with a sex ratio of 6.1. The prevalence of hypertension was estimated to be 18.6% [95% CI: 11.96% - 29.75%]. Hypertension was higher in workers under work stress (41.18%) as opposed to non-stressed workers (14.49%) (p = 0.032);in those who were overweight (30.77) as opposed to non-overweight (2.94%) (p Conclusion: Work stress and obesity are modifiable factors associated with hypertension in workers at the Bohicon city hall. These factors deserve to be corrected by occupational health promotion and prevention actions.
