Dear Editor, Plant cells are encased by cell walls--rigid yet highly dynamic composite structures, which consist of cellulose, hemicelluloses, pectic polysaccharides, glycoproteins, and the polyphenol lignin （Somerville et al., 2004）. Biosynthesis of the wall polysaccharides is facilitated by donor- and acceptor- substrate-specific glycosyltransferases catalyzing the transfer of the sugar moiety from a nucleotide sugar to form a specific glycosidic linkage. Glycosyltransferases have been grouped into families based on primary structure, one of which is fam- ily GT77 （***/GT77_***）.

在船闸扩建工程施工过程中,该项目的基坑开挖工程会对现有结构体产生一定程度的影响。本研究以数值模拟为主要研究方法,分析了影响双排地下连续墙支护结构变形和应力特性以及相邻船闸室变形的几个主要因素。用MIDAS GTS NX数值模拟方法建立了新建船闸深基坑支护结构的有限元模型,并通过与施工和测量单位提供的工程监测数据进行比较,验证了计算模型的有效性。在完成构建模型的基础上,通过一系列数值模拟计算和分析,研究了影响工程结构体的一些重要因素。分析并计算了各因素对基坑支护结构的变形和应力特性以及附近船闸位移的影响。结果表明:(1)通过与测得的支撑结构的位移结构以及相邻船闸室的累积水平位移和沉降值进行比较,可以将有限元结果与实际支撑结构的位移和相邻船闸的位移相吻合。,并且变化趋势是一致的。证明了有限元仿真结果的可靠性和参数值的合理性。(2)双排连续墙之间的土壤加固深度能够有效地改善连续墙前壁以及相邻船闸室的位移条件。它减少了前壁的最大水平位移,同时减少了相邻船闸室的垂直位移和水平位移。(3)通过增加连续墙前壁的厚度,可以减小双排连续墙支撑结构的位移以及相邻的船闸室的位移。连续墙后壁厚度的增加对前壁的位移影响最小,但对后壁的位移以及相邻船闸室的水平和垂直位移影响很小。连接板厚度的增加对前壁和后壁的位移没有影响,但是增加了相邻船闸室的水平位移。(4)支护结构内部支撑的数量对前后壁的最大水平位移以及相邻船闸室的位移有很大的影响。支撑刚度的变化主要影响最大水平位移点以上的墙体,而对最大水平位移点以下的墙体的影响最小。

微型钢管灌注桩属于微型桩的一种,经常用于建筑物的基础加固工程。基于广州市白云区金沙洲某基础加固工程的微型钢管灌注桩静载试验成果,利用ABAQUS有限元软件建立钢管–核心混凝土–土–岩共同作用模型,探讨了基岩模量、嵌岩深径比、钢管壁厚等因素对微型钢管灌注桩承载力的影响。静载试验的数值模拟表明:对于上覆土层为软土的情况,微型钢管灌注桩虽是超长桩,但桩端阻力仍是承载力的主要部分;桩的承载力随基岩的弹性模量增加而增加,但并非线性关系,其增长趋势最终变缓;桩的竖向承载力随钢管壁厚增加而线性增加;嵌岩深径比对桩的竖向承载力基本没有影响。

Primary pediatric mid-brain lymphoma:Report of a rare pediatric tumor in a rare location

Primary central nervous system lymphoma(PCNSL) is a rare disease in pediatric age group. A thirteen-yearold male child presented with complaints of headache for six months, vomiting and diplopia for three days. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed a single lesion of 1.7 cm × 1.6 cm × 1.6 cm in the mid brain and tectum. He underwent a gross total resection of the tumor. The histopathological evaluation revealed B cell high grade non Hodgkin lymphoma. The patient was treated with High dose methotrexate and cranio spinal radiation. The patient was alive without disease 12 mo after completion of treatment. This case highlights importance of keeping PCNSL as differential in brain stem lesions of pediatric patients also. Radiation and chemotherapy remains the most important treatment for such patients.

Evaluation of anti-inflammatory potential of Nardostachys jatamansi rhizome in experimental rodents

This study was undertaken to evaluate age-related differences in histopathologic and molecular profile of glioblastomas（GBMs） at various age groups,with special reference to TP53 mutation,epidermal growth factor receptor（EGFR） amplification,EGFR vIII mutant,PTEN deletion,IDH1 mutation and MGMT promoter *** GBM incidence was calculated over a period of 5 years（2005 to 2009）.Seventy-five GBMs were selected for molecular *** of cases were in the age group of 41 to 60 years,and mean age was 43.6 *** of all 75 cases selected for molecular profiling was *** adult GBMs showed EGFR amplification and PTEN deletion in majority（37.3% and 54.9%,respectively）.TP53 and IDH1 mutations were rare（11.8% cases each）.In secondary GBMs,TP53（66.7%） and IDH1 mutations（44.4%） were most frequent while PTEN deletion was seen in 33.3% and none had EGFR *** GBMs（＜18 year） harbored frequent TP53 mutations（46.7%） and PTEN deletion in 40%.However,characteristics feature was absence of IDH1 mutations and EGFR *** molecular profile of primary GBMs in young adults（19 to 40 year） was distinctly different from that of adults older than 40 years in that TP53 mutation was present in 20% of *** frequency of EGFR amplification（13.3%） and PTEN deletion（33.3%） was significantly low（P=0.028 and 0.046,respectively）.IDH1 mutation,which is rare in primary adult GBMs,was however present in this age group in 40% of *** promoter methylation showed no difference with reference to age or any genetic *** was noted in about 50% of both paediatric and adult GBM ***,molecular heterogeneity exists within GBMs of different age *** molecular profile of GBMs in young adults is distinctly ***,there is a strong need for further studies in various age groups to provide guidelines for therapeutic targeting and define prognostic markers.

Objective:To evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of Nardostachys jatamansi(***)rhizome against acute,subacute and chronic models of inflammation in experimental ***:*** rhizome extract(150 and 300 mg/kg,p.o.)and the reference drugs phenylbutazone(100 mg/kg,p.o.)and acetylsalicylic acid(300 mg/kg,p.o.)were evaluated using models for inflammation(autacoids induced hind paw oedema,formaldehyde induced hind paw oedema,carrageenin-induced paw oedema,cotton pellet granuloma and subcutaneous air pouch model).Results:In acute inflammation as produced by carrageenin 29.06%and 55.81%,by histamine 25.0%and 39.28%,by 5-hydroxytryptamine 21.37%and 36.95%and by prostaglandin E2-induced hind paw oedema 31.03%and 44.82%protection was *** in subacute anti-inflammatory models using formaldehyde-induced hind paw oedema(after 1.5 h)13.88%and 33.33%and in chronic anti-inflammatory model using cotton pellet granuloma 7.4%and 17.58%protection from inflammation was *** rhizome extract also inhibited the inflammatory mediators(nitric oxide by 12.81%and 38.41%,by prostaglandin E212.58%and 47.82%while by TNF-α13.51%and 41.89%)produced in the ***:The results of this study strongly indicate the protective effect of *** rhizome extract against acute,subacute and chronic models of inflammation,which may be attributed to its anti-inflammatory potential.
