Benzene degradation in waste gas by photolysis and photolysis-ozonation： experiments and modeling

The degradation of benzene, a carcinogenic air pollutant, was studied in a gas-phase photochemical reactor with an amalgam lamp emitting ultraviolet light at 185 and 254 nm. Efficient benzene degradation （〉70%） was possible for benzene mass flow rates of up to 1.5 ***1. Adding ozone allowed benzene mass flow rates of up to 5 m ***-1 tobe treated with the same efficiency. In terms of energy consumption, ozone doubles the efficiency of the process. A comprenenslve mecnanisnc simulation model was developed incorporating a chemical kinetics model （62 reactions involving 47 chemical species）, a material balance model incorporating diffusion and flow, a flow velocity model,and a light field model. The model successfully predicted the efficiency of the reactor, generally within 20%, which indicates that the model is sound, and can be used for feasibility studies. The prediction of the reactor efficiency in the presence of ozone was less successful, with systematically overestimated efficiency. Condensation of reaction products in the reactor is thought to be the mare cause of model inaccuracy. Both experimental .data and model predictions show that there is a synergistic effect between ozonation and ultraviolet degradation.

Algebraic and group treatments to nonlinear displaced number states and their nonclassicality features:A new approach

Recently, nonlinear displaced number states （NDNSs） have been manually introduced, in which the deformation function f（n） has been artificially added to the previously well-known displaced number states （DNSs）. Indeed, just a simple comparison has been performed between the standard coherent state and nonlinear coherent state for the formation of NDNSs. In the present paper, after expressing enough physical motivation of our procedure, four distinct classes of NDNSs are presented by applying algebraic and group treatments. To achieve this purpose, by considering the DNSs and recalling the nonlinear coherent states formalism, the NDNSs are logically defined through an algebraic consideration. In addition, by using a particular class of Gilmore-Perelomov-type of SU（1,1） and a class of SU（2） coherent states, the NDNSs are introduced via group-theoretical approach. Then, in order to examine the nonclassical behavior of these states, sub-Poissonian statistics by evaluating Mandel parameter and Wigner quasi-probability distribution function associated with the obtained NDNSs are discussed, in detail.

Hemolytic and cytotoxic effects of saponin like compounds isolated from Persian Gulf brittle star(Ophiocoma erinaceus)

Objective:To isolate and characterize the saponin from Persian Gulf brittle star(Ophiocoma erinaceus)and to evaluate its hemolytic and cytotoxic potential. Methods:In an attempt to prepare saponin from brittle star,collected samples were minced and extracted with ethanol,dichloromethane,***,concentrated n-butanol extract were loaded on HP-20 resin and washed with dionized water,80%ethanol and 100%ethanol ***,detection of saponin was performed by foaming property,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and hemolytic analysis on thin layer *** cytotoxic activity on HeLa cells was evaluated through 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide(MTT)assay and under invert ***:The existence of saponin in Ophiocoma erinaceus were approved by phytochemical *** presence of C-H bond,C-O-C and OH in fourier transform infrared spectrum of fraction 80%ethanol is characteristic feature in the many of saponin *** assay revealed HD_(50) value was 500μg/*** assay exhibited that saponin extracted in IC_(50) value of 25μg/mL inducsd potent cytotoxic activity against HeLa cells in 24 h and 12.5μg/mL in 48 h,meanwhile in lower concentration did not have considerable effect against HeLa ***:These findings showed that only 80%ethanol fraction Persian Gulf brittle star contained saponin like compounds with hemolytic activity which can be detected simply by phytochemical that can be appreciable for future anticancer research.
