BACKGROUND： Oxidative stress is an extremely widespread condition manifested in an increased rate of free-radical processes and accumulation of reactive oxygen species （ROs） in the tissues. It appears in different physiologic states and pathological processes accompanied by stimulation of the sympathetic adrenal system or tissue hypoxia or under stress. However, until now, there is still no clarity on the issue of the significance of oxidative stress in the development of adaptation processes in the organism. OBJECTIVE： In the present work we will review the most recent finding about physiologic role of oxidative stress and its participation in adaptation of an organism to effect of different adverse factors. METHODs： A systematic literature search was performed using the Pubmed search engine. studies published over past 18 years, i.e. between 1998 and 2015 were considered for review. Followed keywords were used：＂oxidative stress,＂＂free radical oxidation,＂＂ROs,＂＂endogenous aldehydes,＂＂adaptation.＂ REsULTs： The article cites arguments supporting the notion that oxidative stress serves as a nonspecific link in the adaptation of the human body to the effects of injurious factors. Oxidative stress exerts regulatory effects by changing the redox state of the cell. Oxidative stress affects on various intracellular proteins containing cysteine residues, e.g., enzymes, chaperones, and transcription factors, etc. For this reason, the use of antioxidants for the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide range of diseases is not recommended. CONCLUsION： Further investigation is needed in this field. The most attention should be paid to careful experimental verification aimed at quantitative assessment of the ROs level in tissues under oxidative stress, as well as at the study of possibility of enhancing the catabolism of free radical oxidation carbonyl products in order to prevent tissue damage under oxidative stress.

subcutaneous panniculitis-like T cell lymphoma(sPTCL) is a very rare variant of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Currently, there is no standard imaging method for staging of sPTCL nor for assessment of treatment response. Here, we describe our use of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) for staging and monitoring of treatment response in 3 cases of sPTCL. Primary staging by PET/CT showed that all 3 patients had multiple foci in the subcutaneous fat tissue, with sUVmax from 10.5 to 14.6. Involvement of intra-abdominal fat with high sUVmax was identified in 2 of the patients. Use of the triple drug regimen of gemcitabine, cisplatin and methylprednisolone(commonly known as "GEM-P") as first-line therapy or second-line therapy facilitated complete metabolic response for all 3 cases. FDG PET/CT provides valuable information for staging and monitoring of treatment response and can reveal occult involvement of the intraabdominal visceral fat. High FDG uptake on pre-treatment PET can identify patients with aggressive disease and help in selection of first-line therapy.

Background: strumpel disease and dystonia are inherited disorders with the clinical picture of spastic paraparesis and hyperkinesis respectively. We present a case of a patient born from parents with these diseases who developed neurologic phenomena uncharacteristic for the classical clinical picture of his parents’ disorders. Case report: Patient V., 12, born from his father with generalized dystonia and mother with strumpel disease, has flaccid lower paraplegia along with dystonic hyperkinesis in neck and arms. Discussion: The flaccid lower paraplegia could be caused by the anterior horn lesion. This phenomenon is unclear because anterior horn lesions were not diagnosed in the proband’s parents.

This paper considers the problems of the potential development of erosion processes in the natural landscapes of northern taiga in the Russian plain. It is considered that in forest ecosystems, erosion processes are slow and are weakly reflected in the terrain. However, the situation changes radically if the vegetation cover integrity is violated, which is inevitable with the modern methods of developing northern territories. Furthermore, global changes in average annual temperatures and the occurrence of karst processes may be the reason behind the development of erosion processes. The authors suggest a method for determining territories with a varying occurrence probability of erosional processes, based on digital elevation modelling. The territory of the Pinezhsky Nature Reserve(Arkhangelsk region) was chosen as the test plot. Direct field studies were previously used to detect exogenous geological processes in this territory. The authors were the first to suggest digital elevation modelling as a method that allows determining the potential danger of erosion in karst landscapes of the northern taiga. The geomorphometric studies resulted in the determination of areas with the greatest and lowest occurrence probability of erosion processes in the Pinezhsky Nature Reserve. It was established that the most significant erosion type was linear erosion, represented by incised river valleys and karst ravines. sheet erosion is less significant and occurs as sinkholes, local declines, and chasms over the valleys of subterranean rivers.

Measuring capillary oxygenation and the surrounding ultrastructure can allow one to monitor a microvascular niche and better understand crucial biological ***,capillary oximetry and pericapillary ultrastructure are challenging to measure in *** we demonstrate a novel optical imaging system,dual-band dual-scan inverse spectroscopic optical coherence tomography(D2-IsOCT),that,for the first time,can simultaneously obtain the following metrics in vivo using endogenous contrast:(1)capillary-level oxygen saturation and arteriolar-level blood flow rates,oxygen delivery rates,and oxygen metabolic rates;(2)spatial characteristics of tissue structures at length scales down to 30 nm;and(3)morphological images up to 2mm in *** illustrate the capabilities of D2-IsOCT,we monitored alterations to capillaries and the surrounding pericapillary tissue(tissue between the capillaries)in the healing response of a mouse ear wound *** obtained microvascular and ultrastructural metrics corroborated well with each other,showing the promise of D2-IsOCT for becoming a powerful new non-invasive imaging tool.

Polymeric amines are being studied intensively as components of systems for gene delivery in genetic engineering and gene therapy of genetic disorders, including cancer. Despite remarkable achievements in the field, polymeric amines, such as polyethyleneimine, show some disadvantages. strong interaction between the amine-containing polymer and nucleic acid hampers the release of nucleic acid in the cell cytoplasm. Amine groups can interact with the cell membrane which results in cell death. These limitations of polymeric amines stimulated an investigation of new structures for gene delivery. Imidazole-containing polymers have attracted attention as lesser basic substances, while they are able to interact with polymeric acids. Further development of imidazole-based gene delivery agents requires knowledge about some fundamental aspects of interaction between nucleic acids, and polymeric imidazoles. In this work, we studied the complexation of poly(1-vinylimidazole) and oligomeric DNA. We found that the number of active sites capable of binding with negatively charged phosphate groups is comparable with the number of protonated imidazole units in the case of high molecular weight polymer. The increase in polymer charge by 1-bromopropane quaternizating 1%?5% imidazole units or by decreasing the pH to 6.5?7 considerably increased the ability of poly(1-vinylimidazole) to interact with oligonucleotides. The pH sensitivity of this interaction is interesting for cancer gene therapy because the tumours have a lowered intercellular pH (stable oligonucleotide complex) and a higher extracellular pH which can lead to complex dissociation. Minimal critical length for complexation of quaternized poly(1-vinylimidazole) and DNA is below eight units which corresponds to polymers with amine groups. The siliceous frustules of diatom algae contain complex proteins known as silaffins, which consist of a peptide chain with grafted polyamine chains. These polyamines contain twenty or more nitrogen atoms with trimethylene groups between the nitrogens. We synthesized a set of polymers containing grafted long-chain polyamine fragments by using acryloyl chloride （ACh） polymers and activated acrylic acid copolymers as the starting materials. The new polymers contained 0.05 mol%-3.2 mol% of polyamine chains, which corresponded to 0.06-3.56 mmol·g- 1 amine groups. The new amine-containing polymers formed complexes with short （19-21-mer） deoxyribonucleic acid （DNA） and ribonucleic acid （RNA） strands, and these complexes penetrated into model yeast cells and A549 lung cancer cell. This study demonstrates the potential of these species based on long-chain polyamines to serve as novel gene delivery systems.

The influence of the textural and acidic properties ofγ‐Al2O3,(γ+χ)‐Al2O3,and?‐Al2O3on the catalytic activity,selectivity,and stability of direct H2s oxidation has been studied.A comparison of the H2s‐to‐s conversion effectiveness of aluminas with their acidic properties(identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and temperature programmed desorption of NH3)shows that H2s adsorption occurs predominantly on weak Lewis acid sites(LAs).γ‐Alumina samples containing aχ‐phase and/or modified Mg2+ions have a greater concentration of weak LAs and exhibit greater catalytic *** alumina is treated with a sulfuric acid solution,strong LAs appear and the number of LAs decreases *** of alumina with hydrochloric acid has a limited effect on LAs *** LAs are retained and double in number compared to that present in the unmodified alumina,but the treated sample has Al?Cl *** samples modified by sulfate and chloride anions exhibit poor catalytic activity in H2s oxidation.
