BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AiM To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS in a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).Mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

A novel rheumatoid arthritis(RA)synovial fluid protein,Syntenin-1,and its receptor,Syndecan-1(SDC-1),are colocalized on RA synovial tissue endothelial cells and fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLS).Syntenin-1 exacerbates the inflammatory landscape of endothelial cells and RA FLS by upregulating transcription of iRF1/5/7/9,iL-1β,iL-6,and CCL2 through SDC-1 ligation and HiF1α,or mTOR ***,Syntenin-1 orchestrates RA FLS and endothelial cell invasion via SDC-1 and/or mTOR *** Syntenin-1 reprogrammed endothelial cells,the dynamic expression of metabolic intermediates coincides with escalated glycolysis along with unchanged oxidative factors,AMPK,PGC-1α,citrate,and inactive oxidative ***,RA FLS rewired by Syntenin-1 displayed a modest glycolytic-ATP accompanied by a robust mitochondrial-ATP *** enriched mitochondrial-ATP detected in Syntenin-1 reprogrammed RA FLS was coupled with mitochondrial fusion and fission recapitulated by escalated Mitofusin-2 and DRP1 *** found that VEGFR1/2 and Notch1 networks are responsible for the crosstalk between Syntenin-1 rewired endothelial cells and RA FLS,which are also represented in RA *** to RA explants,morphological and transcriptome studies authenticated the importance of VEGFR1/2,Notch1,RAPTOR,and HiF1αpathways in Syntenin-1 arthritic mice and their obstruction in SDC-1 deficient ***,dysregulation of SDC-1,mTOR,and HiF1αnegated Syntenin-1 inflammatory phenotype in RA explants,while inhibition of HiF1αimpaired synovial angiogenic imprint amplified by *** conclusion,since the current therapies are ineffective on Syntenin-1 and SDC-1 expression in RA synovial tissue and blood,targeting this pathway and its interconnected metabolic intermediates may provide a novel therapeutic strategy.

Understanding the neural underpinning of human gait and balance is one of the most pertinent challenges for 21st-century translational neuroscience due to the profound impact that falls and mobility disturbances have on our aging *** and gait control does not happen automatically,as previously believed,but rather requires continuous involvement of central nervous *** effectively exert control over the body,the brain must integrate multiple streams of sensory information,including visual,vestibular,and somatosensory *** mechanisms which underpin the integration of these multisensory signals are the principal topic of the present *** multisensory integration theories focus on how failure of cognitive processes thought to be involved in multisensory integration leads to falls in older *** emphasis,however,has been placed on specific contributions of individual sensory modalities to multisensory integration processes and cross-modal interactions that occur between the sensory modalities in relation to gait and *** the present work,we review the contributions of somatosensory,visual,and vestibular modalities,along with their multisensory intersections to gait and balance in older adults and patients with Parkinson’s *** also review evidence of vestibular contributions to multisensory temporal binding windows,previously shown to be highly pertinent to fall risk in older ***,we relate multisensory vestibular mechanisms to potential neural substrates,both at the level of neurobiology(concerning positron emission tomography imaging)and at the level of electrophysiology(concerning electroencephalography).We hope that this integrative review,drawing influence across multiple subdisciplines of neuroscience,paves the way for novel research directions and therapeutic neuromodulatory approaches,to improve the lives of older adults and patients with neurodegenerative diseases.

Ecosystem accounting has become one of the key components in the revision of international statistical *** of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for ecosystem services follows the rapid progress of science in this area as well as expanding applications to sustainability *** this contribution,we discuss approaches to accounting of ecosystem assets as a natural capital basis that is critical for ecosystem service *** on examples from the Czech Republic,a Central European country,we illustrate the construction of ecosystem extent accounts based on the methodology of Land and Ecosystem *** analysis is complemented by monetary ecosystem asset accounting through quantification of the present value of future ecosystem service *** condition is represented by the Mean Species Abundance indicator,which gauges the direction of ecosystem *** on the demonstration of approaches to ecosystem asset accounting,we discuss selected aspects of ecosystem condition measurements,valuation,and policy implications of ecosystem asset accounting at the national level.

Parallel Cloth Simulation Using OpenGL shading Language

The primary goal of cloth simulation is to express object behavior in a realistic manner and achieve real-time performance by following the fundamental concept of *** general,the mass–spring system is applied to real-time cloth simulation with three types of ***,hard spring cloth simulation using the mass–spring system requires a small integration time-step in order to use a large stiffness ***,to obtain stable behavior,constraint enforcement is used instead of maintenance of the force of each *** force computation involves a large sparse linear solving *** to the large computation,we implement a cloth simulation using adaptive constraint activation and deactivation techniques that involve the mass-spring system and constraint enforcement method to prevent excessive elongation of *** the same time,when the length of the spring is stretched or compressed over a defined threshold,adaptive constraint activation and deactivation method deactivates the spring and generate the implicit *** method that uses a serial process of the Central Processing Unit(CPU)to solve the system in every frame cannot handle the complex structure of cloth model in *** simulation utilizes the Graphic Processing Unit(GPU)parallel processing with compute shader in OpenGL shading Language(GLSL)to solve the system *** this paper,we design and implement parallel method for cloth simulation,and experiment on the performance and behavior comparison of the mass-spring system,constraint enforcement,and adaptive constraint activation and deactivation techniques the using GPU-based parallel method.

Real-time Volume Preserving Constraints for Volumetric Model on GPU

This paper presents a parallel method for simulating real-time 3D deformable objects using the volume preservation mass-spring system method on tetrahedron *** general,the conventional mass-spring system is manipulated as a force-driven method because it is fast,simple to implement,and the parameters can be ***,the springs in traditional mass-spring system can be excessively elongated which cause severe stability and robustness issues that lead to shape restoring,simulation blow-up,and huge volume loss of the deformable *** addition,traditional method that uses a serial process of the central processing unit(CPU)to solve the system in every frame cannot handle the complex structure of deformable object in ***,the first order implicit constraint enforcement for a mass-spring model is utilized to achieve accurate visual realism of deformable objects with tough constraint *** this paper,we applied the distance constraint and volume conservation constraints for each tetrahedron element to improve the stability of deformable object simulation using the mass-spring system and behave the same as its real-world *** reduce the computational complexity while ensuring stable simulation,we applied a method that utilizes OpenGL compute shader,a part of OpenGL shading Language(GLSL)that executes on the graphic processing unit(GPU)to solve the numerical problems *** applied the proposed methods to experimental volumetric models,and volume percentages of all objects are *** average volume percentages of all models during the simulation using the mass-spring system,distance constraint,and the volume constraint method were 68.21%,89.64%,and 98.70%,*** proposed approaches are successfully applied to improve the stability of mass-spring system and the performance comparison from our experimental tests also shows that the GPU-based method is faster than CPU-based implementation for all cases.

*-Regular Leavitt Path Algebras of Arbitrary Graphs

if K is a field with involution and E an arbitrary graph, the involution from K naturally induces an involution of the Leavitt path algebra LK（E）. We show that the involution on LK（E） is proper if the involution on K is positive-definite, even in the case when the graph E is not necessarily finite or row-finite. it has been shown that the Leavitt path algebra LK（E） is regular if and only if E is acyclic. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for LK（E） to be ＊-regular （i.e., regular with proper involution）. This characterization of ＊-regularity of a Leavitt path algebra is given in terms of an algebraic property of K, not just a graph-theoretic property of E. This differs from the known characterizations of various other algebraic properties of a Leavitt path algebra in terms of graph- theoretic properties of E alone. As a corollary, we show that Handelman＇s conjecture （stating that every ,-regular ring is unit-regular） holds for Leavitt path algebras. Moreover, its generalized version for rings with local units also continues to hold for Leavitt path algebras over arbitrary graphs.

Surfactant food emulsifiers are among the most extensively used food *** all authorized food additives,emulsifiers have been evaluated by risk assessors,who consider them as ***,there are growing concerns among scientists about their possible harmful effects on intestinal barriers and *** is also suggested that emulsifier consumption might be one of the main causes of the rising incidence of a number of diseases,such as allergic diseases,celiac disease,type i diabetes and Crohn’s ***,it has recently been suggested that emulsifier consumption might contribute to the development of metabolic syndrome and can promote colitis-associated colorectal cancer *** paper provides an overview of the current scientific knowledge on possible effects of surfactant emulsifiers on intestinal barriers and also of regulatory risk assessment *** main objective is to reveal the reasons for the discrepancies between the opinions of risk assessors and the scientific *** would like to draw the attention of the academic world to the need of specific in vivo and/or clinical studies for each emulsifier in order to help risk assessors make adequate evaluations and rule out with certainty that authorized food emulsifiers pose a safety concern to consumers’health.

Potential prospects of nanomedicine for targeted therapeutics in inflammatory bowel diseases

inflammatory bowel diseases (iBDs) such as Crohn's disease are highly debilitating. There are inconsistencies in response to and side effects in the current conventional medications, failures in adequate drug delivery, and the lack of therapeutics to offer complete remission in the presently available treatments of iBD. This suggests the need to explore beyond the horizons of conventional approaches in iBD therapeutics. This review examines the arena of the evolving iBD nanomedicine, studied so far in animal and in vitro models, before comprehensive clinical testing in humans. The investigations carried out so far in iBD models have provided substantial evidence of the nanotherapeutic approach as having the potential to overcome some of the current drawbacks to conventional iBD therapy. We analyze the pros and cons of nanotechnology in iBD therapies studied in different models, aimed at different targets and mechanisms of iBD pathogenesis, in an attempt to predict its possible impact in humans.
