Convergence of high-performance silicon photonics and electronics,monolithically integrated in state-of-the-art CmOS platforms,is the holy grail for enabling the ultimate efficiencies,performance,and scaling of electronicphotonic *** requires the emergence of platforms that combine state-of-the-art RF transistors with optimized silicon photonics,and a generation of photonic device technology with ultralow energies,increased operating spectrum,and the elimination of power-hungry thermal *** this paper,in a co-optimized monolithic electronics-photonics platform(GlobalFoundries 45 CLO),we turn the metal-oxide-semiconductor(mOS) field-effect transistor’s basic structure into a novel,highly efficient mOS capacitor ring *** has the smallest ring cavity(1.5 μm radius),largest corresponding spur-free free spectral range(FSR=8.5 THz),and record 30 GHz/V shift efficiency in the O-band among silicon modulators demonstrated to *** 1 V_(pp) RF drive,we show an open optical eye while electro-optically tuning the modulator to track over 400 pm(69 GHz) change in the laser wavelength(using 2.5 V_(DC) range).A 90 GHz maximum electro-optic resonance shift is demonstrated with under 40 nW of power,providing a strong nonthermal tuning mechanism in a CmOS photonics *** modulator has a separately optimized body layer but shares the gate device layer and the gate oxide with 45 nm transistors,while meeting all CmOS manufacturability design *** type of convergent evolution of electronics and photonics may be the future of platforms for high-performance systemson-chip.

Sub-leading flow modes in PbPb collisions at (~sNN)^(1/2) = 2.76 TeV from the HYDJET++ model

Recent LHC results on the appearance of sub-leading flow modes in Pb Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV, related to initial-state fluctuations, are analyzed and interpreted within the HYDJET＋＋ model. Using the newly introduced Principal Component Analysis（PCA） method applied to two-particle azimuthal correlations extracted from the model calculations, the leading and sub-leading flow modes are studied as a function of the transverse momentum（p T） over a wide centrality range. The leading modes of the elliptic（v2^（1）） and triangular（v3^（1）） flow calculated with the HYDJET＋＋ model reproduce rather well the v2 {2} and v3 {2} coefficients measured experimentally using the two-particle correlations. Within the p T 3 Ge V/c range, where hydrodynamics dominates, the sub-leading flow effects are greatest at the highest p T of around 3 Ge V/c. The sub-leading elliptic flow mode（v2^（2））, which corresponds to the n = 2 harmonic, has a small non-zero value and slowly increases from central to peripheral collisions, while the sub-leading triangular flow mode（v3^（2））, which corresponds to the n = 3 harmonic, is even smaller and does not depend on centrality. For n= 2, the relative magnitude of the effect measured with respect to the leading flow mode shows a shallow minimum for semi-central collisions and increases for very central and for peripheral collisions. For the n= 3 case, there is no centrality dependence. The sub-leading flow mode results obtained from the HYDJET＋＋model are in rather good agreement with the experimental measurements of the CmS Collaboration.

In this work, five mixtures with different concentrations of banana-shaped and calamitic compounds have been prepared and subsequently studied by polarizing optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction on non-oriented samples. The phase sequences and molecular parameters of the binary systems are presented.

Finite-time asynchronous dissipative filtering of conic-type nonlinear markov jump systems

In the present study, the finite-time asynchronous dissipative filter design problem for the markov jump systems with conic-type nonlinearity is studied. The hidden markov model can describe the asynchronism embodied in the system modes and the filter modes reasonably. moreover, a suitable LyapunovKrasovskii function is utilized and linear matrix inequalities are applied to obtain adequate conditions. These techniques guarantee the finite-time boundedness and strict dissipativity of the filtering error dynamic system. Furthermore, the design problems of the passive filter and the H∞ filter are studied by adjusting the three parameters U, G and V. Finally, the filter gains and the optimal index α*are obtained and the correctness and feasibility of the designed approach are verified by a simulation example.

Target acquisition performance in the presence of JPEG image compression

This paper presents an investigation on the effect of JPEG compression on the similarity between the target image and the background,where the similarity is further used to determine the degree of clutter in the *** new clutter metrics based on image quality assessment are introduced,among which the Haar wavelet-based perceptual similarity index,known as HaarPSI,provides the best target acquisition prediction *** is shown that the similarity between the target and the background at the boundary between visually lossless and visually lossy compression does not change significantly compared to the case when an uncompressed image is *** future work,through subjective tests,it is necessary to check whether this presence of compression at the threshold of just noticeable differences will affect the human target acquisition *** values are compared with the results of subjective tests of the well-known target Search_2 database,where the degree of agreement between objective and subjective scores,measured through linear correlation,reached a value of 90%.

Repeated penile girth enhancement with biodegradable scaffolds： microscopic ultrastructural analysis and surgical benefits

Autologous tissue engineering using biodegradable scaffolds as a carrier is a well-known procedure for penile girth enhancement. We evaluated a group of previously treated patients with the aim to analyze histomorphometric changes after tissue remodeling and to estimate the benefits of repeated procedure. Between February 2012 and December 2016, a group of 21 patients, aged 22-37 （mean 28.0） years, underwent a repeated penile girth enhancement procedure with biodegradable scaffolds. Procedure included insertion of two poly-lactic-co-glycolic acid scaffolds seeded with laboratory-prepared fibroblasts from scrotal tissue specimens. During this procedure, biopsy specimens of tissue formed after the first surgery were taken for microscopic analysis. The mean follow-up was 38 months. Connective tissue with an abundance of connective tissue fibers, small blood vessels, and inflammatory cells were observed in all analyzed surgically removed tissue. Ultrastructural analysis of these tissue samples discovered the presence of large quantities of collagen fibrils running parallel to each other, forming bundles, with a few widely spread fibroblasts. In total, the mean values of flaccid and erect gain in girth after the second surgery were 1.1 ± 0.4 （range： 0.6- 1.7） cm and 1.0±0.3 （range： 0.6-1.5） cm, respectively. microscopic evaluation of newly formed tissue, induced by autologous tissue engineering using biodegradable scaffolds, showed the presence of vascularized loose connective tissue with an abundance of collagen fibers, fibroblasts, and inflammatory cells, indicating active neovascularization and fibrinogenesis. The benefit of the repeated enhancement procedure was statistically significant.

Central corneal regularization (CCR): an alternative approach in keratoconus treatment

Background:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of an approach that combines corneal customized transepithelial therapeutic ablation to treat irregular corneal optics and accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking(CXL)to strengthen the corneal tissue and stop the progression of *** transepithelial therapeutic ablation applied a novel concept named central corneal regularization(CCR)which could correct the corneal morphological irregularities and the eye’s spherocylindrical refractive error with minimal stromal tissue ***:Retrospective *** that underwent CCR combined with CXL were evaluated preoperatively and up to 12 months postoperatively for visual acuity,subjective refraction,corneal haze,pachymetry and maximum keratometry(Kmax).Results:Twenty four eyes of 24 patients with a mean age of 28.92±9.88 years were *** mean spherical equivalent(SE)refractive error changed from−0.74±1.17 D preoperatively to−1.05±1.52 D at 12 months *** mean uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA)and corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA)*** eye lost lines of CDVA,21 had a mean improvement of 3.21 *** mean cylinder error and Kmax value dropped from−3.06±1.83 D and 51.38±3.29 D to−1.04±0.80 D and 48.70±2.58 D,*** mean haze score at 3,6 and 12 months was 0.56,0.19 and 0.06,***:CCR combined with CXL offers promising results as a safe and effective treatment in keratoconic patients.

The preparation and properties of thick flexible three-phase composite films based on lead zirconium titanate(PZT) and various ferrites(nickel zinc ferrite(NZF) and cobalt ferrite(CF)) were reported in this study. Properties of three-phase composite films were compared with pure polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) and PZT–PVDF films. X-ray diffraction data indicated the formation of well crystallized structure of PZT and NZF/CF phases, without the presence of undesirable phases. Scanning electron micrographs showed that the ceramic particles were dispersed homogeneously in the PVDF matrix and atomic force microscopy confirmed that the size of the particles is around 30 nm. Non-saturated hysteresis loops were evident in all samples due to the presence of highly conductive ferrite phases. Under magnetic field of 10 k Oe, composite films exhibited a typical ferromagnetic response. Dielectric properties were investigated in the temperature range from –128 to 250 ℃ and frequency range of 400 Hz–1 mHz. The results showed that the value of dielectric constant of the PVDF/PZT/ferrite composites increased about 25% above the one obtained for pure PVDF.
