Biomass production from microalgae Chlorella grown in sewage,kitchen wastewater using industrial CO_(2)emissions:Comparative study

Microalgae cultivation using organic wastewater like kitchen wastewater(KWW)and sewage wastewater(SWW)are recommended for wastewater treatment along with simultaneous biomass production which is a cost effective *** is rich in nutrients which might be an efficient wastewater feedstock for microalgae cultivation to achieve reasonably high biomass yield for energy *** has not been investigated extensively for microalgae cultivation till now because of high concentration of ammonia as it could inhibit algae *** order to make KWW suitable for microalgae growth,a common method is to dilute with ***,in the present study,KWW was diluted with water at dilution ration 1:1 and compared with SWW for microalgae biomass growth,biomass yields and nutrient removal efficiency specifically using *** KWW and SWW showed highest biomass productivity in mixotrophic cultivation *** average biomass productivity in SWW was 0.6 g/L which was higher when compared to *** infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)of algal biomass revealed the presence of certain organic compound groups such as eOH,eCOOH,NH_(2),and ■*** was concluded from the results that Chlorella was very effective in the treatment of KWW,SWW and industrial flue gas on the other hand the biomass obtained is a sustainable green energy source for biofuels.

E/e’ as a Predictor of Short-Term Survival Following ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Background: We examined the usefulness of tissue Doppler imaging in evaluating the diastolic dysfunction and assessed the prognostic value of ratio between early mitral inflow velocity and mitral annular early diastolic velocity (E/e’) in unselected patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods: Patients presenting with acute STEMI at Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad, India between January-2012 and June-2012 were examined in this study. All patients underwent echocardiographic examination comprising Doppler assessment of transmitral flow velocities (peak E-wave velocity) and Doppler tissue imaging of the medial mitral valve annulus (e’). All patients were followed up for 6 months and all-cause mortality was measured as the study endpoint. Role of E/e’ ratio as a predictor of survival after acute STEMI was evaluated by a comparative analysis of patients with E/e’ ≤15 and >15. Results: A total of 50 patients with acute STEMI (mean age: 52.2 ± 13.2 years;80% males) were analyzed in this study. Of them, 23 (46%) patients had an E/e’ >15. Clinical parameters such as Killip class ≥2 as well as left ventricular ejection fraction of 15. Five (10%) patients died during the 6-month follow-up period. All deaths occurred among patients from the E/e’ >15 group, indicating that E/e’ is an effective predictor of overall survival. Conclusion: E/e’ ratio was identified as a strong predictor of survival after acute myocardial infarction and can be suitable for risk-stratification of patients in this setting. Further studies are warranted to substantiate the findings.

Clinical innovations are ideations resulting from collective experiences that enhance the “norm” and embrace an avenue for change with an invention. As such, collective data that were suggestive of increased medication errors that compromised patient safety initiated the exploration of methods that could reduce multifactorial human errors. The pursuit for an appropriate system followed with the discovery of barcode medication administration system (BCMA) and electronic medication administration system (e-MAR). Prior to the adoption of BCMA and e-MAR, it was crucial to assess the impact of the new medication administration system and the rate of medication administration errors recorded, specifically those that resulted in harm. The purpose of the study was to evaluate BCMA and e-MAR usage outcomes, clinical practices, policies, and processes impacting nurses administering medications in the clinical environment using BCMA and e-MAR system. Thus, an annotated literature review was conducted prior to the implementation of the innovation which analyzed various studies that elaborated on their study methods, data collection and analysis that deliberated on the advantages and disadvantages of barcode medication administration system. It is evident in the researched journals that increased compliance was observed with appropriate guidance, processes and policies in place. There was also a significant reduction in reported errors. The incorporation of barcode technology with electronic medication administration record (e-MAR) had greatly improved the efficiency of the BCMA system. BCMAs method was one of the proposed solutions to medication administration errors and to enhance patient safety measures. As such, the innovation could significantly reduce medication error resulting from intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Antiviral software systems (AVSs) have problems in detecting polymorphic variants of viruses without specific signatures for such variants. Previous alignment-based approaches for automatic signature extraction have shown how signatures can be generated from consensuses found in polymorphic variant code. Such sequence alignment approaches required variable length viral code to be extended through gap insertions into much longer equal length code for signature extraction through data mining of consensuses. Non-nested generalized exemplars (NNge) are used in this paper in an attempt to further improve the automatic detection of polymorphic variants. The important contribution of this paper is to compare a variable length data mining technique using viral source code to the previously used equal length data mining technique obtained through sequence alignment. This comparison was achieved by conducting three different experiments (i.e. Experiments I-III). Although Experiments I and II generated unique and effective syntactic signatures, Experiment III generated the most effective signatures with an average detection rate of over 93%. The implications are that future, syntactic-based smart AVSs may be able to generate effective signatures automatically from malware code by adopting data mining and alignment techniques to cover for both known and unknown polymorphic variants and without the need for semantic (run-time) analysis.

Antiviral software systems (AVSs) have problems in identifying polymorphic variants of viruses without explicit signatures for such variants. Alignment-based techniques from bioinformatics may provide a novel way to generate signatures from consensuses found in polymorphic variant code. We demonstrate how multiple sequence alignment supplemented with gap penalties leads to viral code signatures that generalize successfully to previously known polymorphic variants of JS. Cassandra virus and previously unknown polymorphic variants of ***/*** and *** viruses. The implications are that future smart AVSs may be able to generate effective signatures automatically from actual viral code by varying gap penalties to cover for both known and unknown polymorphic variants.

The application of biopolymers such as chitosan is one of the emerging sorption methods for the removal of metal ions, even at low concentrations. A rapid, sensitive and selected method is de- scribed for preconcentrative determination of vanadium(V) using the synthesized 3-Hydroxyben- zaldehyde-4 Amino antipyrine (HBAP), which was chemically immobilized on chitosan. This is easy to prepare in comparison to many other sorbents. The synthesized sorbent material was se- lective to vanadium(V) within a better response time of 30 min. The method was selective in presence of other foreign ions like Cl-, F-, , , Na+, Ca2+, Zn2+, Fe3+, Fe2+, Cu2+, Cr3+, EDTA, Mn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+. The calibration plots were linear over the concentration range of 0.5 μg·L-1 to 7 μg·L-1 of vanadium(V). These values are 100 times lower than by the direct determination of vanadium by FAAS. The developed procedure was reproducible with a relative standard deviation of 2.84%. The developed sorbent was successfully applied for the determination of vanadium(V) in real water and soil samples. Unlike most preconcentration procedures, the present enrichment method allowed for a rapid and reliable determination of vanadium(V) in environmental samples by the simple and routinely available flame atomic absorption spectrometry technique.

In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to study the influence of ethylene inhibitor silver nitrate on direct shoot regeneration in Sphaeranthus indicus, an important antijaundice medicinal plant, by using in vitro raised shoot tip explants. The effect of various concentrations of kinetin, BAP (0.5 - 3.0 mg/l), and NAA (0.1 - 0.5 mg/l) along with AgNO3 (0.1 - 1.0 mg/l) was studied. Among the combinations tested MS medium augmented with kinetin (1.0 mg/l), NAA (0.1 mg/l) and AgNO3 (0.4 mg/l) was found to be optimum for production of multiple shoots (34.3 ± 0.36). Addition of AgNO3 to the media not only increases shoot number in all the concentrations tested but also shoot length. AgNO3 at the concentration of 0.4 mg/l produced 35% more number of multiple shoots when compared to multiple shoots (10.8 ± 0.12) produced in control. In the present study by the addition of ethylene inhibitor silver nitrate and growth regulators, more number of multiple shoots (three folds) and shoot length was observed compared to control. These in vitro raised shoots were transferred to the rooting medium containing different concentrations of auxins such as NAA and IAA along with AgNO3 (0.1 - 0.6 mg/l). Better rooting response (21.6) was observed on NAA (2.0 mg/l) and AgNO3 (0.4 mg/l) containing media. The healthy rooted plantlets were transferred to polybags containing soil and vermiculate in 1:1 ratio for hardening. Finally the hardened plants were transferred to field environment for utmost survivability.

Simple, selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Azacitidine in pharmaceutical formulations and blood with MBTH (3-methyl-2-benzothiazolone hydrazone hydrochloride) reagent, at PH-4.0 which is extractable at 620 nm. Beer’s law is obeying in the concentration ranges 10 - 35 μg·ml-1 for formulations and 4 - 24 μg·ml-1 for blood sample. %R.S.D was found to be 0.0240%, 0.0610 and Recovery 99.82% 99.24% respectively. The method was completely validated and proven to be rugged. The interferences of the other ingredients and excipients were not observed. The repeatability and the performance of the proven method were conventional by point and interior proposition and through recovery studies.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of methanolic extract of Murraya koenigii(MMK)leaves in attenuating the hepatic damage inflicted by carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4)),a potent oxidative stress inducer and a model ***:Rats were divided into six groups of five each:normal control group,CCl_(4)group,CCl_(4+)silymarin group,CCl_(4+)MMK group(200 mg/kg body weight),CCl_(4+)MMK group(300 mg/kg body weight)and CCl_(4+)MMK group(500 mg/kg body weight).Rats were intraperitoneally injected with 20%CCl_(4),in corn oil(1 mL/kg body weight)and MMK was orally administered for 3 *** of hepatic markers such as alanine transaminase,aspartate transaminase,alkaline phosphatase and total billirubin were *** of superoxide dismutase,catalase and glutathione peroxidase were assayed and malondialdehyde content was *** histopathological examination,liver microtome sections were prepared and observed under light ***:Oral administration of MMK had significantly reduced the activities of aspartate transaminase,alanine transaminase,alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin content in a dosedependent manner,which were elevated by CCl_(4).However,CCl_(4)-induced rise in lipid peroxidation and drop in superoxide dismutase,catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities were reversed by MMK ***,the hepatoprotective activity of MMK was supported by histopathological examination of liver microtome ***:Our biochemical and histological studies demonstrate the potential antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity of MMK and our results scientifically validate the often use of MMK leaves in food preparation and in Ayurvedic medicine in India and neighboring countries.
