Fusion and one-neutron stripping process for ^(6)Li+^(94)Zr system around the Coulomb Barrier

The complete and incomplete fusion cross section as well as one-neutron stripping process of ^(6)Li+^(94)Zr system were measured at the energies around the Coulomb barrier by onlineγ-ray *** addition to a 30%suppression factor when compared with the measured total fusion process,the complete fusion cross section in ^(6)Li+^(94)Zr system was observed to be significantly lower than those in the nearby ^(6)Li+^(90,96)Zr *** new experimental result implies that the coupling with breakup channel in the ^(6)Li-induced fusion processes can be affected by the inner structure of the target,which is still not clear in any available model *** the one-neutron stripping process,the direct production cross sections for each level in 95Zr were extracted and compared with the coupled reaction channel calculation,offering a unique opportunity to examine the single-particle nature of the produced excited *** the fact that an overall overestimation of the production cross section for 954-keV and1618-keV levels was observed in the comparison,further investigation is highly demanded in order to understand the full reaction mechanism for the one-neutron stripping process induced by ^(6)Li.

Faulty evidence for superconductivity in ac magnetic susceptibility of sulfur hydride under pressure

Stress waves propagation in solids under high-speed liquid impact

An experiment of impact between 450 m/s water jets and polymethylme- thacrylate (PMMA) materials with complex surface geometry was conducted. The testing surfaces were a corner, step change, surface-breaking notch, inclined surface, etc. Stress waves propagation in the solid such as reflection, interference and diffraction was observed using polarized optics and an Imacon high speed camera (operating at both of 106 and 5×105 framing rates per second, fps). A damage test by the impact of the side jetting of an 850 m/s water jet was also carried out. It was found that stress waves propagation in solids depends not only on the surface geometry but also on the contact situation between liquid and solid. It was shown that the side jetting has sufficient damage potential although its head may consist of finer droplets. The results of this paper are useful to further analyze the dynamic stress state of solids under high-speed liquid impact.

As the sole obligate symbiotic birds in Africa,oxpeckers offer a unique model for studying symbiotic *** to the multitrophic level they occupy and the context dependent foraging behavior they exhibit,the type of symbiotic relationship can be *** addition to providing a cleaning service to the host by removing ticks,oxpeckers frequently feed on blood,mucus,and saliva,inflicting potential damage on the ***,we used DNA metabarcoding on faecal samples to analyze the taxonomic composition of the trophic interactions of the Yellow-billed Oxpecker(Buphagus africanus)and Red-billed Oxpecker(***)in northeastern *** contrast to conventional methods,DNA metabarcoding allows for a detailed identification of dietary resources encompassing both mammal hosts and consumed arthropods within the same *** this information,we examined differences in the diet composition between oxpecker species and localities,as well as the co-occurrence between host and arthropod *** findings revealed that oxpeckers predominantly source their diet from mammals,ticks,and flies;however,ticks and flies rarely co-occur in the diet of an *** observed variability among individuals in their feeding ecology,which is strongly correlated with locality and,to a lesser extent,with the mammal *** noted a high degree of mobility between hosts within relatively short periods,with 32%of the samples showing traces of at least two mammal *** study illustrates the dynamic foraging behavior of these specialized symbiotic birds,shedding light on their potential role in pest control services and disease transmission.

Diagnostic accuracy of ePOS score in predicting DNR labeling after ICU admission:A prospective observational study(ePOS-DNR)

Background Resuscitation can sometimes be futile and making a do-not-resuscitate(DNR)decision is in the best interest of the *** electronic poor outcome screening(ePOS)score was developed to predict 6-month poor outcomes of critically ill *** explored the diagnostic accuracy of the ePOS score in predicting DNR decisions in the intensive care unit(ICU).Methods This study was conducted at the ICU of a tertiary referral hospital in Saudi Arabia between March and May ***,we calculated ePOS scores for all eligible consecutive admissions after 48 h in the ICU and recorded the DNR *** ability of the score to predict DNR was explored using logistic ***'s ideal cut-off value was calculated using the DeLong method,and different diagnostic accuracy measures were generated with corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).Results We enrolled 857 patients,125 received a DNR order and 732 did *** average ePOS score of DNR and non-DNR patients was 28.2±10.7 and 15.2±9.7,*** score,as a predictor of DNR order,had an area under receiver operator characteristic(AUROC)curve of 81.8%(95%CI:79.0 to 84.3,Pen's ideal cut-off value>17 was associated with a sensitivity of 87.2(95%CI:80.0 to 92.5,Pecificity of 63.9(95%CI:60.3 to 67.4,Pe predictive value of 29.2(95%CI:24.6 to 33.8,Pegative predictive value of 96.7(95%CI:95.1 to 98.3,Pe ePOS score performed well as a diagnostic test for patients who will be labeled as DNR during their ICU stay.A cut-off score>17 may help guide clinical decisions to withhold or commence resuscitative measures.

Distributed Document Clustering Analysis Based on a Hybrid Method

Clustering is one of the recently challenging tasks since there is an *** amount of data in scientific research and commercial applications. High quality and fast document clustering algorithms are in great demand to deal with large volume of data. The computational requirements for bringing such growing amount data to a central site for clustering are complex. The proposed algorithm uses optimal centroids for *** clustering based on Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO).PSO is used to take advantage of its global search ability to provide optimal centroids which aids in generating more compact clusters with improved accuracy. This proposed methodology utilizes Hadoop and Map Reduce framework which provides distributed storage and analysis to support data intensive distributed applications. experiments were performed on Reuter's and RCV1 document dataset which shows an improvement in accuracy with reduced execution time.

Comprehensive studies identify motor neuron spectrum disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)as globally rising fatal disorders with the highest prevalence in aging populations,influenced by ethnicity and ancestry(GBD 2016 Motor Neuron Disease Colla borators,2018).While~10% of diagnoses involve a family history(fALS),most cases are considered sporadic(sALS).However,population-based studies suggest that even cases without a common index mutation impart heritability(Ryan et al.,2019),indicating a crucial role of rare and as yet unknown genetic denominators.

In-port-plug transmission line design of the ITeR plasma position reflectometer

This work describes the microwave design of the transmission line housed in the in-port-plug region of the ITeR plasma position reflectometer(PPR).The design of the components of the inport-plug reflectometers(located in equatorial port-plug 10(ePP10) and in upper-port-plug 01(UPP01)) is *** a 3 D ray tracing code, the spatial position and optimum orientation angles of each set of emission and detection antennas were determined.A feasible path was then created from the obtained antenna positions and orientations to the primary vacuum *** tall waveguides were chosen to reduce ohmic *** to space constraints in the ITeR crowded environment, bends in oversized waveguides were unavoidable, and thus mode conversion was *** keep mode conversion losses at bay, hyperbolic secant curvature bends had to be used whenever ***, e-plane bends in tall waveguides proved to be especially critical, making it necessary to employ other approaches when higher bending angles were *** conversion results were obtained by evaluating the mode coupling *** losses have also been computed and their results compared with commercial simulators, obtaining a perfect agreement.

Fish embryo and juvenile size under hypoxia in the mouth- brooding African cichlid Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor

We used a field survey and a laboratory rearing experiment to （a） examine response （size and survival） to life-long hypoxia in offspring of the African maternal mouth-brooding cichlid Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae （Seegers） and （b） explore the degree to which developmental response can be environmentaUy-induced. embryo size metrics were quantified in 9 field populations across a range of dissolved oxygen （DO） concentrations. In the laboratory, first generation （F1） broods of low-DO origin were reared under high or low DO. Brooding period was quantified for the mothers; and egg size, egg metabolic rate and juvenile size-at-release were quantified in their （F2） offspring. The F2 offspring were split and grown for 3 months post-release under high or low DO, and juvenile size and survival were quantified. In the field survey, across stages, embryos from low-DO field populations were shorter and weighed less than embryos from high-DO populations. In the laboratory experi- ment, F2 eggs and juveniles-at-release from mother＇s mouth did not differ in mass, length, survival regardless of development DO environment. However, juveniles diverged in size after leaving mother＇s mouth, exhibiting smaller size when grown under low DO. Size differences in embryo size across field populations and divergence in embryo size after release from the mother＇s mouth support predictions for smaller body size under hypoxia. There was no evidence for negative effects on survival of juveniles after 3 months. Brooding period was 16% shorter in females reared under low DO suggesting that hypoxia may accelerate embryo de- velopment. This work provides insights into how bearer fishes respond to hypoxic stress relative to fishes with no post-spawning parental care; a shorter brooding interval and smaller body size may provide an optimal solution to parent and embryo survival under hypoxia in brooding fishes [Current Zoology 58 （3）： 401-412, 2012].

Plants require a number of essential elements in different proportions for ensuring their growth and *** elemental concentrations in leaves reflect the functions and adaptations of plants under specific environmental ***,less is known about how the spectrum of leaf elements associated with resource acquisition,photosynthesis and growth regulates forest biomass along broad elevational *** examined the influence of leaf element distribution and diversity on forest biomass by analyzing ten elements(C,N,P,K,Ca,Mg,Zn,Fe,Cu,and Mn)in tree communities situated every 100 meters along an extensive elevation gradient,ranging from the tropical forest(80 meters above sea level)to the alpine treeline(4200 meters above sea level)in the Kangchenjunga Landscape in eastern Nepal *** calculated communityweighted averages(reflecting dominant traits governing biomass,i.e.,mass-ratio effect)and functional divergence(reflecting increased trait variety,i.e.,complementarity effect)for leaf elements in a total of 1,859 trees representing 116 *** increasing mass-ratio effect and decreasing complementarity in leaf elements enhance forest biomass accumulation.A combination of elements together with elevation explains biomass(52.2%of the variance)better than individual elemental trait diversity(0.05%to 21%of the variance).elevation modulates trait diversity among plant species in biomass *** promotes biomass at lower elevations,but reduces biomass at higher elevations,demonstrating an interaction between elevation and *** interaction between elevation and mass-ratio effect produces heterogeneous effects on biomass along the elevation *** research indicates that biomass accumulation can be disproportionately affected by elevation due to interactions among trait diversities across vegetation *** higher trait variation enhances the adaptation of species to environmental changes,it reduces
