We present a model of gauge theory based on the symmetry group G×SU（2） where G is the gravitational gauge group and SU（2） is the internal group of symmetry. We employ the spacetime of four-dimensional Minkowski, endowed with spherical coordinates, and describe the gauge fields by gauge potentials. The corresponding strength field tensors are calculated and the field equations are written. A solution of these equations is obtained for the case that the gauge potentials have a particular form potentials induces a metric of Schwarzschild type on with spherical symmetry. The solution for the gravitational the gravitational gauge group space.

Integration and scaling of UV-B radiation effects on plants: the relative sensitivity of growth forms and interspecies interactions

Aims the relative plant type sensitivity and selected community interac-tions under increased UV-B radiation where ***,we investigated:(i)if there are differences among growth forms in regard to their sensitivity to UV-B radiation,(ii)if increased UV-B radiation influences the plant competitive balance in plant com-munities and(iii)the response mechanisms of the UV-B radiation-sensitive species that might increase their *** to answer our research questions,we used a mechanistic model that,for the first time,integrated the effects of increased UV-B radia-tion from molecular level processes,whole plant growth and devel-opment,and community *** Findings In the model simulations,species types exhibited different levels of sensitivity to increased UV-B *** C3 and C4 annuals showed similar growth inhibition rates,while biennials and winter C3 annuals were the most *** exhibited inhibitions in growth only if increased UV-B radiation results in increases in metabolic *** communities,species sensitive to UV-B radiation may have a competitive disadvantage compared to resistant plant ***,sensitive species may have a wide array of responses that can increase their fitness and reproductive success in the com-munity,such as,increased secondary metabolites production,changes in timing of emergence and reproduction,and changes in seed *** individual plants may exhibit significant inhibi-tions in growth and development,in communities,these inhibitions can be mitigated by small morphological and physiological *** or occasional increased UV-B radiation events should not have any lasting effect on the structure of the commu-nity,unless other environmental factors are perturbing the dynamic equilibrium.

Intestinal pseudo-obstruction:An uncommon condition with heterogeneous etiology and unpredictable outcome

Intestinal pseudo-obstruction (IPO) either acute or chronic is a condition including features of intestinal ileus in absence of mechanical obstruction. Our paper presents such a rare case of idiopathic IPO in a 53-year-old male patient with recurrent episodes of pseudo-obstruction, which were successfully resolved by anticholinesterase agents, motilin agonists or colonic decompression. However, the patient finally underwent total colectomy. Huge colonic dilatation was identified intraoperatorily, while histology showed a neuropathic variant of chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction. Etiologic mechanisms and current therapeutic methods are reviewed in this paper, which concludes that IPO is a condition in which conservative treatment usually fails. Total colectomy with ileoanal pouch may be the only solution in these situations.

EFFICIENT HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS FOR LOW-ENERGY HOUSES

Buildings account for a large amount of land use, energy and water consumption, and atmospheric pollution. For example, in the United States, they use 40% of the total national energy consumption (56% by residential dwellings), produce 38% of the total carbon dioxide emissions, and account for 12.2% of the total quantity of water consumed (2006). In this context, buildings with considerably reduced energy consumption are a key strategy to achieving energy savings and climate protection targets in both the residential and commercial/institutional sectors [1]. This article reviews a number of heating and cooling systems-existing and/or under development- available for residential buildings and briefly outlines some research projects and initiatives, as well as technical achievements in Canada and other developed countries over the last few years.

Density and thermal expansion coefficients of liquid and austenite phase in lamellar cast iron

Volume change related defects formation mechanisms are an important detracting phenomenon in production of complex shaped cast *** different technical alloys,cast iron behaves in a complex manner due to the combined volume change of the formed *** liquid and the austenitic phase are contracting while the graphite phase is expanding during the *** complex volume change in combination with complex casting shapes causes a considerable deviation from isotropy in the solidification *** mentioned difficulties are considered the main reason why an extensive research work is condensed in the literature within this *** multitude of reported experimental set up and the various efforts to interpret the volume change phenomena in terms of density and thermal expansion coefficients makes the results difficult to compare from different *** these difficulties in mind,the present paper presents a broad experimental series and measures unidirectional linear deformation of an industrially spread lamellar cast iron alloy system(Fe-C-2Si)using the push-rod based dilatometer *** measurements are divided into two major groups with respect to the liquid iron deformation over the liquidus temperature line,and the austenite deformation below the solidus temperature *** obtained results are interpreted as thermal expansion coefficients,density variation slopes,and density data at the liquids and solidus *** obtained results are compared with literature data and with calculated values by the Thermo Calc software.

Mechanical properties of a Gum-type Ti–Nb–Zr–Fe–O alloy

A new Gum-type alloy(Ti–Nb–Zr–Fe–O) in which Fe is used instead of Ta was subjected to a particular thermomechanical processing scheme to assess whether its mechanical characteristics(fine ?-grains with high strength and low modulus) render it suitable as a biomedical implant material. After a homogenization treatment followed by cold-rolling with 50% reduction, the specimens were subjected to one of three different recrystallization treatments at 1073, 1173, and 1273 K. The structural and mechanical properties of all of the treated specimens were analyzed. The mechanical characterization included tensile tests, microhardness determinations, and fractography by scanning electron microscopy. The possible deformation mechanisms were discussed using the Bo – Md diagram. By correlating all of the experimental results, we concluded that the most promising processing variant corresponds to recrystallization at 1073 K, which can provide suitable mechanical characteristics for this type of alloys: high yield and ultimate tensile strengths(1038 and 1083 MPa, respectively), a low modulus of elasticity(62 GPa), and fine crystalline grain size(approximately 50 ?m).

This paper aims at demonstrating the biocompatibility of recently developed 3D hydrogel scaffolds containing the same amount of collagen(COLL) and variable concentrations of sericin(SS) in order to find the most suitable formula for adipose tissue engineering(ATE) *** scaffolds were obtained by COLL crosslinking with glutaraldehyde followed by freeze-drying and, subsequently, seeded with 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. Scanning electron microscopy studies revealed the scaffolds’ architecture and cellular colonization. Also, in vitro biocompatibility of the developed scaffolds was evaluated by LDH and MTT assays and Live/Dead analysis of 3T3-L1 preadipocyte populating these 3D *** best results in terms of cell survival and proliferation status were obtained in the case of the hybrid COLL scaffold containing 40% SS(COLL–SS4). Furthermore, the biological performance of the analyzed COLL-based hydrogels at 5- and 8- days post-seeding was found to decrease as follows: COLL–SS4 4 COLL–SS2 4 COLL 4 COLL–SS6. Consequently, our study highlights that hybrid scaffolds obtained by the addition of variable concentrations of SS to a constant COLL composition positively influences the behavior of 3T3-L1 cells with the exception of the COLL–SS6 matrix(60% SS). Altogether, the data obtained recommend SS as a component of COLL-based hydrogels providing them with features that may be useful in ATE applications.
