Previous research has shown that the effect of potassium fertilizer on soybean ([glycine max (L.) Merr.] seed composition (protein, oil, fatty acids, and isoflavones) is still largely unknown. Therefore, the objective of this research was to investigate the effects of potassium application on seed protein, oil, fatty acids, and isoflavones under Midsouth environmental conditions. A three-year experiment was conducted in two locations (Milan, TN and Jackson, TN). Potassium (K) rates were applied in the form of K2O at a rate of 0 (Control, C), 45 (T1), 90 (T2), 134 (T3), and 179 (T4) kg·ha-1 in a randomized complete block design. The results showed that increasing the K application rate did not result in consistent effects on yield. However, increasing K application rate did increase protein, oleic acid, and individual and total isoflavone concentrations at both locations in 2008 and 2009. In Jackson in 2010, the increase of K rate did not change oleic acid, but resulted in an increase in glycitein and genistein isoflavone concentrations. In 2010, increasing K application rate increased protein concentrations, decreased individual and total isoflavones, and did not change oleic acid concentration at Milan. At the highest rate of K, 179 kg·ha-1, yield and some seed composition constituents were negatively impacted. generally, K concentration in leaves at v5, R1, R3, and seed at harvest maturity stage (R8) increased with the increase of K rate applications. The research demonstrated that K application can alter seed composition, but this alteration depended on location, environmental stress factors, mainly heat and drought, K level in soil, and K application rate. Higher rates of K application may negatively impact seed composition constituents.

To develop an efficient water use strategy for crop irrigation, we need to know how much water can be reduced without decreasing yield. A study was designed to determine corn growth stages at which water could be reduced without affecting grain yield, and at what soil moisture level water deficit stress begins in the plants in a silt loam soil. An experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block with a 3 × 4 factorial design in four replications, where treatments consisted of three soil moisture levels [100%, 75%, and 50% of field capacity (FC) of a silt loam soil by weight] and four growth stages [fourteen leaf stage (v14), silking (R1), milk (R3), and dent (R5) stages] in a greenhouse. growth stages at the reproductive and grain fill stages of corn were selected because this study was intended for the Mississippi Delta, where there is frequent drought during these growth stages making irrigation necessary for corn production, whereas there is usually adequate rainfall during the vegetative growth stages. Results from this study showed that reducing soil moisture from 100% FC (fully irrigated) to 75% FC of a silt loam soil starting at the R1 growth stage in corn did not reduce yield significantly compared to yield from the 100% FC, while saving a significant amount of water. Physiological investigations at the three soil moisture treatments showed that a mild moisture deficit stress might have started at the 75% FC treatment. With further investigation, if savings in water at 75% FC result in a significant reduction in energy cost, it may be profitable to reduce soil moisture to 75% FC in a silt loam soil.

Purpose: There are still un-responded questions concerning the type of and the timing of axillary procedures that has to be performed in association with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: We led a prospective, multicentric, non-randomized study to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy before neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The clinical and radiological response to chemotherapy was evaluated after 4 treatment cycles and at the end of chemotherapy. Axillary lymph node dissection was performed 3 to 4 weeks after chemotherapy. Histological analysis of sentinel lymph node biopsies and axillary lymph node dissections were studied for each patient. Results: Eighty nine patients had sentinel lymph node biopsy. The identification rate for sentinel lymph nodes was 98.9%. The sentinel lymph node biopsies were metastatic in 44 of 88 patients. Axillary lymph nodes were metastatic in 12 cases. The negative predictive value was 91.1% [95%CI: 85.1% - 97.1%]. Conclusion: Identification rate and negative predictive value of sentinel lymph node biopsy prior to neoadjuvant chemotherapy confirm that the procedure is suitable with its use in standard practice. This approach comprises two surgical procedures, but allows a better nodal status evaluation.

In this study we describe the fabrication of a variety of open-cellular titanium alloy（Ti-6 Al-4 v） implants,both reticular mesh and foam structures, using electron beam melting（EBM）. These structures allow for the elimination of stress shielding by adjusting the porosity（or density） to produce an elastic modulus（or stiffness） to match that of both soft（trabecular） and hard（cortical） bone, as well as allowing for bone cell ingrowth, increased cell density, and all-matrix interactions; the latter involving the interplay between bone morphogenetic protein（BMP-2） and osteoblast functions. The early formation and characterization of elementary vascular structures in an aqueous hydrogel matrix are *** results for both animal（sheep） and human trials for a number of EBM-fabricated, and often patient-specific Tialloy implants are also presented and summarized. The results, while preliminary, support the concept and development of successful, porous, engineered ＂living＂ implants.

This study elaborates on the effects of matrix rigidity on the high-velocity impact behaviour of UHMWPE textile composites using experimental and numerical *** composite samples were manufactured of a plain-weave fabric(comprising Spectra?1000 fibres)and four different matrix ***-velocity impact tests were conducted by launching a spherical steel projectile to strike on the prepared samples via a gas *** experimental results showed that the textile composites gradually changed from a membrane stretching mode to a plate bending mode as the matrix rigidity and thickness *** composites deformed in the membrane stretching mode had higher impact resistance and energy absorption capacity,and it was found that the average energy absorption per ply was much higher in this mode,although the number of broken yarns was smaller in the perforated ***,the flexible matrix composites always had higher perforation resistance but larger deformation than the rigid matrix counterparts in the tested thickness and velocity range.A novel numerical modelling approach with enhanced computational efficiency was proposed to simulate textile composites in mesoscale *** simulation results revealed that stress and strain development in the more rigid matrix composite was localised in the vicinity of the impact location,leading to larger local deformation and inferior perforation resistance.

Analysis of Trends of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders in Patients with Systemic Essential Hypertension

Background: Studies have revealed a strong link between sleep-related breathing disorders and essential hypertension. However, the trends of sleep-disordered breathing in hypertensive patients have not been analyzed frequently. Methods: In this prospective, single-center and observational study, random patients with systemic essential hypertension, who were visiting gSvM Medical College, Kanpur, India between December 2012 and July 2014, were selected. After obtaining informed consent, patients were analyzed for symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Subsequently, all patients underwent overnight polysomnography to estimate the events of apnea and hypopnea. Observed data were compared between stage I and stage II hypertensive patients. Results: A total of 51 patients (age: 45.7 ± 13.43 years), comprising 36 stage I hypertensives and 15 stage II hypertensives, were enrolled in the study. About 47% of these patients displayed no symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing. Compared to stage I hypertensives, higher percentage of stage II hypertensives reported excessive day time sleepiness. Sleep latency time and sleep architecture were comparable between stage I and stage II hypertensives. Stage II hypertensives displayed shorter total sleep time and higher snore time than stage I hyper-tensives. Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) values increased with the severity of hypertension. Nocturnal oxygen desaturation was present in 25.0% and 53.3% of stage I and II hypertensives respectively. Mean lowest oxygen saturation was lower and the mean C-reactive protein levels were higher in stage II hypertensives as compared to stage I hypertensives. The mean C-reactive protein levels increased with increasing AHI scores, while the mean lowest oxygen saturation decreased with increasing AHI scores. Conclusion: Almost half of the hypertensives patients reported no symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing. Sleep-disordered breathing was more common and was more sever

A Stability Indicating UPLC Method for Finasteride and Its Related Impurities

The objective of the present research work is to develop a gradient, reversed-phase liquid chromatographic (RP-UPLC) method for the determination of Finasteride in pharmaceutical bulk drugs for assay and its related impurities. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a Waters ACQUITY UPLC BEH Phenyl Column (150 mm × 2.1 mm, 1.7 μm), The gradient LC method employs solutions A and B as mobile phase. The solution A Contains 2.5 mM ortho phosphoric acid (Buffer) and solution B contains a mixture of acetonitrile and water in the ratio of (90:10 v/v). The flow rate was 0.22 ml/min and the detection wavelength was 210 nm. In the developed UPLC method, the resolution between Finasteride and its potential impurities, namely Imp-1, Imp-2, Imp-3 and Imp-4 was found to be greater than 2.0. The drug was subjected to stress conditions of hydrolysis, oxidation, photolysis and thermal degradation. Considerable degradation was found to occur in alkaline medium and oxidative stress conditions. Degradation product formed during oxidative hydrolysis was found to be Imp-1. The stress samples were assayed against a qualified reference standard and the mass balance was found close to 99.5%. The developed RP-UPLC method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision and robustness. The limit of quantification of Imp-1, Imp-2, Imp-3 and Imp-4 were 0.06, 0.06, 0.05 and 0.036% (of analyte concentration, i.e. 0.5 mg/ml) with 1μl injection volume. The developed method was found to be linear in the range of 2.5 - 15 μg/mL with correlation coefficient of 0.999 for assay procedures and found to be linear in the range of 0.05 - 3 μg/mL with correlation coefficient of 0.999 for related impurities.

Performance, emission and combustion characteristics of sea lemon oil and its diesel blends in a diesel engine

Experimental tests have been carried out to evaluate the performance,emission and combustion characteristics of a diesel engine using neat sea lemon oil and its blends of 25%,50%,&75%and standard diesel fuel *** common problems posed when using vegetable oil in a compression ignition engine are poor atomization,carbon deposits,ring sticking *** is because of the high viscosity and low volatility of vegetable *** blended with diesel,sea lemon oil presented lower viscosity,improved volatility,better combustion and less carbon *** was found that there was reduction in NO for neat sea lemon oil and its diesel blends along with marginal increase in smoke,HC and CO emissions compared to that of standard *** thermal efficiency was slightly lower for neat sea lemon oil and its diesel *** the combustion analysis,it was found that sea lemon oil-diesel blends performed better than neat sea lemon oil.
