Multi-objective energy management in microgrids with hybrid energy sources and battery energy storage systems

Microgrid with hybrid renewable energy sources is a promising solution where the distribution network expansion is unfeasible or not economical.Integration of renewable energy sources provides energy security,substantial cost savings and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions,enabling nation to meet emission targets.Microgrid energy management is a challenging task for microgrid operator(MGO)for optimal energy utilization in microgrid with penetration of renewable energy sources,energy storage devices and demand response.In this paper,optimal energy dispatch strategy is established for grid connected and standalone microgrids integrated with photovoltaic(Pv),wind turbine(WT),fuel cell(FC),micro turbine(MT),diesel generator(DG)and battery energy storage system(Ess).Techno-economic benefits are demonstrated for the hybrid power system.so far,microgrid energy management problem has been addressed with the aim of minimizing operating cost only.However,the issues of power losses and environment i.e.,emission-related objectives need to be addressed for effective energy management of microgrid system.In this paper,microgrid energy management(MGEM)is formulated as mixedinteger linear programming and a new multi-objective solution is proposed for MGEM along with demand response program.Demand response is included in the optimization problem to demonstrate it’s impact on optimal energy dispatch and techno-commercial benefits.Fuzzy interface has been developed for optimal scheduling of Ess.simulation results are obtained for the optimal capacity of Pv,WT,DG,MT,FC,converter,BEs,charging/discharging scheduling,state of charge of battery,power exchange with grid,annual net present cost,cost of energy,initial cost,operational cost,fuel cost and penalty of greenhouse gases emissions.The results show that CO_(2) emissions in standalone hybrid microgrid system is reduced by 51.60%compared to traditional system with grid only.simulation results obtained with the proposed method is compared with various evolutionary algorithms to ver

Microgrids with hybrid renewable energy sources are increasing and it is a promising solution to electrify remote areas where distribution network expansion is not feasible or not economical.standalone microgrids with environment-friendly hybrid energy sources is a cost-effective solution that ensures system reliability and energy security.This paper determines the optimal capacity,energy dispatching and techno-economic benefits of standalone microgrid in remote area in Tamilnadu,India.Microgrids with hybrid energy sources comprising photovoltaic(Pv),wind turbine(WT),battery energy storage system(BEss)and diesel generator(DG)are considered in this paper.various case studies are implemented with hybrid energy sources and for each case study a comparative analysis of techno-economic benefits is demonstrated.Eight different configurations of hybrid energy sources are modeled with renewable fractions of 50%,60%,65%,and 100%,respectively.The optimization analysis is carried out using Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable(HOMER)software.Impact of demand response is also demonstrated on energy dispatching and technoeconomic benefits.simulation results are obtained for the optimal capacity of Pv,WT,DG,converter,and BEss,charging/discharging pattern,state of charge(sOC),net present cost(nPC),cost of energy(COE),initial cost,operation cost,fuel cost,greenhouse gas emission penalty and payback period considering seasonal load variation.It is observed that Pv+BEss is the most economical configuration.COE in standalone microgrid is higher than the conventional grid price.The results show that CO2 emissions in hybrid Pv+WT+DG+BEss are reduced by about 68%compared with the traditional isolated distribution system with DG.

This paper investigates wormhole solutions within the framework of extended symmetric teleparallel gravity,incorporating non-commutative geometry,and conformal symmetries.To achieve this,we examine the linear wormhole model with anisotropic fluid under Gaussian and Lorentzian distributions.The primary objective is to derive wormhole solutions while considering the influence of the shape function on model parameters under Gaussian and Lorentzian distributions.The resulting shape function satisfies all the necessary conditions for a traversable wormhole.Furthermore,we analyze the characteristics of the energy conditions and provide a detailed graphical discussion of the matter contents via energy conditions.Additionally,we explore the effect of anisotropy under Gaussian and Lorentzian distributions.Finally,we present our conclusions based on the obtained results.

In addition to their visible motion such as swimming(e.g.,with the help ofﬂagella),bacteria can also exhibit nanomotion that is detectable only with highly sensitive instruments,and this study shows that it is possible to detect bacterial nanomotion using an AFM detection system.The results show that the nanomotion characteristics depend on the bacterial strain,and that nanomotion can be used to sense the metabolic activity of bacteria because the oscillations are sensitive to the food preferences of the bacteria and the type of surrounding medium.

Thermo-and pH-sensitive Polymer with Pendant spacer-linked Imidazole Cycles

By the reaction of poly(acryloyl chloride) with n-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole, poly(n-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)acrylamide) was synthesized. The new polymer contains an imidazole ring removed from the main chain by a spacer of five bonds. The structure and purity, molecular weight, hydrodynamic and thermosensitive properties of the obtained sample were studied by1H-and13C-nMR, FTIR spectroscopy, acid-base titration, light scattering, turbidimetry and viscometry. The observed ability of the imidazole-containing polymer to form and destroy associates in water-salt solutions at pH 6.6-7.4 and temperatures of 29-48℃ indicates that these are promising candidates for designing complex biomedical systems. The new polymer is able to form complexes with oligo-DnA more actively than poly(1-vinylimidazole), which is of interest for gene delivery applications. The polymer cross-linked with epichlorohydrin gives micro-relief coatings on the plastic surface, and the modified surface is able to attach negatively charged objects. This thermo-and pH-sensitive polymer modification can be applied to create finely controlled surfaces for cell culturing.

Ion heat transport in electron cyclotron resonance heated L-mode plasma on the T-10 tokamak

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second-harmonic extra-ordinary mode. Predictive modeling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat conductivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated ion temperature could be overestimated, so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To study this effect two scans are presented: over the EC resonance position and over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field side to the low-field side by variation of the toroidal magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented with on-axis and mixed ECRH regimes. Discharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained in all considered regimes. In these discharges the power balance ion heat conductivity exceeds the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are distinguished by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized electron density gradient R/■, and the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

Unsupervised intrusion detection system for in-vehicle communication networks

In-vehicle communication has been optimized day to day to keep updated of the technologies.Control area network(CAn)is used as a standard communication method because of its efficient and reliable connection.However,CAn is prone to several network level attacks because of its lack in security mechanisms.various methods have been introduced to incorporate this in CAn.We proposed an unsupervised method of intrusion detection for in-vehicle communication networks by combining the optimal feature extracting ability of autoencoders and more precise clustering using fuzzy C-means(FCM).The proposed method is light weight and requires less computation time.We performed an extensive experiment and achieved an accuracy of 75.51%with the ML35o in-vehicle intrusion dataset.By experimental result,the proposed method also works better for other intrusion detection problems like wireless intrusion detection datasets such as Wns-Ds with accuracy of 84.05%and network intrusion detection datasets such as KDDCup with accuracy 60.63%,UnsW_nB15 with accuracy 73.62%and Information security Center of Excellence(Iscx)with accuracy 74.83%.Overall,the proposed method outperforms the existing methods and avoids labeled datasets when training an in-vehicle intrusion detection model.The results of the experiment of our proposed method performed on various intru-sion detection datasets indicate that the proposed approach is generalized and robust in detecting intrusions and can be effectively deployed in real time to monitor CAn traffic in vehicles and proactively alert during attacks.

The emergence of van der Waals(vdW)materials resulted in the discovery of their high optical,mechanical,and electronic anisotropic properties,immediately enabling countless novel phenomena and applications.such success inspired an intensive search for the highest possible anisotropic properties among vdW materials.Furthermore,the identification of the most promising among the huge family of vdW materials is a challenging quest requiring innovative approaches.Here,we suggest an easy-to-use method for such a survey based on the crystallographic geometrical perspective of vdW materials followed by their optical characterization.Using our approach,we found As2s3 as a highly anisotropic vdW material.It demonstrates high in-plane optical anisotropy that is~20%larger than for rutile and over two times as large as calcite,high refractive index,and transparency in the visible range,overcoming the century-long record set by rutile.Given these benefits,As2s3 opens a pathway towards nextgeneration nanophotonics as demonstrated by an ultrathin true zero-order quarter-wave plate that combines classical and the Fabry–Pérot optical phase accumulations.Hence,our approach provides an effective and easy-to-use method to find vdW materials with the utmost anisotropic properties.

Antibacterial HA-coatings on bioresorbable Mg alloy

In this study, a calcium-phosphate coating was formed on a Mg-Mn-Ce alloy by the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO). The antibiotic vancomycin, widely used in the treatment of infections caused by staphylococcus aureus(s. aureus), was impregnated into the coating.samples with vancomycin showed high bactericidal activity against s. aureus. The mechanical and electrochemical properties of the formed coatings were studied, as well as in vitro cytotoxicity tests and in vivo tests on mature male rats were performed. According to sEM,EDs, XRD and XPs data, coatings had a developed morphology and contained hydroxyapatite, which indicates high biocompatibility.The analysis of roughness of coatings without and with vancomycin did not reveal any differences, confirming the high roughness of the samples. During electrochemical tests, an increase in corrosion resistance by more than two times after the application of PEO coatings was revealed. According to the results of an in vivo study, after 28 days of the implantation of samples with calcium phosphate PEO coating and vancomycin, no signs of inflammation were observed, while an inflammatory reaction developed in the area of implantation of bare alloy,followed by encapsulation. Antibiotic release tests from the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the released antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual decrease until day 28. Throughout the experiment, no significant deviations in the condition and behavior of the animals were observed; clinical tests did not reveal a systemic toxic reaction.

Biomaterial engineering strategies for modeling the Bruch's membrane in age-related macular degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration,a multifactorial inflammatory degenerative retinal disease,ranks as the leading cause of blindness in the elderly.strikingly,there is a scarcity of curative therapies,especially for the atrophic advanced form of age-related macular degeneration,likely due to the lack of models able to fully recapitulate the native structure of the outer blood retinal barrier,the prime to rget tissue of age-related macular degeneration.standard in vitro systems rely on 2D monocultures unable to adequately reproduce the structure and function of the outer blood retinal barrier,integrated by the dynamic interaction of the retinal pigment epithelium,the Bruch's membrane,and the underlying choriocapillaris.The Bruch's membrane provides structu ral and mechanical support and regulates the molecular trafficking in the outer blood retinal barrier,and therefo re adequate Bruch's membrane-mimics are key for the development of physiologically relevant models of the outer blood retinal barrie r.In the last years,advances in the field of biomaterial engineering have provided novel approaches to mimic the Bruch's membrane from a variety of materials.This review provides a discussion of the integrated properties and function of outer blood retinal barrier components in healt hy and age-related macular degeneration status to understand the requirements to adequately fabricate Bruch's membrane biomimetic systems.Then,we discuss novel materials and techniques to fabricate Bruch's membrane-like scaffolds for age-related macular degeneration in vitro modeling,discussing their advantages and challenges with a special focus on the potential of Bruch's membrane-like mimics based on decellularized tissue.
