Cancer Regions in Mammogram Images Using ANFIS Classifier Based Probability Histogram Segmentation Algorithm

Every year,the number of women affected by breast tumors is increasing worldwide.Hence,detecting and segmenting the cancer regions in mammogram images is important to prevent death in women patients due to breast cancer.The conventional methods obtained low sensitivity and specificity with cancer region segmentation accuracy.The high-resolution standard mammogram images were supported by conventional methods as one of the main drawbacks.The conventional methods mostly segmented the cancer regions in mammogram images concerning their exterior pixel boundaries.These drawbacks are resolved by the proposed cancer region detection methods stated in this paper.The mammogram images are clas-sified into normal,benign,and malignant types using the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)approach in this paper.This mammogram classification process consists of a noise filtering module,spatial-frequency transformation module,feature computation module,and classification mod-ule.The Gaussian Filtering Algorithm(GFA)is used as the pixel smooth filtering method and the Ridgelet transform is used as the spatial-frequency transformation module.The statistical Ridgelet feature metrics are computed from the transformed coefficients and these values are classified by the ANFIS technique in this paper.Finally,Probability Histogram Segmentation Algo-rithm(PHSA)is proposed in this work to compute and segment the tumor pixels in the abnormal mammogram images.This proposed breast cancer detection approach is evaluated on the mammogram images in MIAS and DDSM datasets.From the extensive analysis of the proposed tumor detection methods stated in this work with other works,the proposed work significantly achieves a higher performance.The methodologies proposed in this paper can be used in breast cancer detection hospitals to assist the breast surgeon to detect and segment the cancer regions.

Evaluating the effectiveness of marine actinobacterial extract and its mediated titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the degradation of azo dyes

Aim of the present study was to synthesize titanium dioxide nanoparticles （YiO2 NPs） from marine actinobacteria and to develop an eco-friendly azo-dye degradation method. A total of five actinobacterial isolates were isolated from Chennai marine sediments, Tamilnadu, India and analyzed for the synthesis of TiO2 NPs using titanium hydroxide. Among these, the isolate PSv 3 showed positive results for the synthesis of TiO2 NPs, which was confirmed by Uv analysis. Further characterization of the synthesized TiO2 NPs was done using XRD, AFM and FI＇-IR analysis. Actinobacterial crude extract and synthesized TiO2 NPs was found efficient in degrading azo dye such as Acid Red 79 （AR-79） and Acid Red 80 （AR-80）. Degradation percentage was found to be 81% for AR-79, 83% for AR-80 using actinobacterial crude extract and 84% for AR-79, 85% for AR-80 using TiO2 NPs. Immobilized actinobacterial ceils showed 88% for AR-79 and 81% for AR- 80, dye degrading capacity. Degraded components were characterized by FT-IR and GC-MS analysis. The phytotoxicity test with 500 μg/mL of untreated dye showed remarkable phenotypic as well as cellular damage to Tagetes erecta plant. Comparatively no such damage was observed on plants by degraded dye components. In biotoxicity assay, treated dyes showed less toxic effect as compared to the untreated dyes.

Trauma during pregnancy deserves special attention because of its management objectives,i.***.well-being of both pregnant woman and foetus.Maxillofacial trauma directly affects the nutrition of foetus by interfering with the normal functions in a pregnant woman such as mouth opening.mastication and breathing,Hence early restitution of form and function of maxillofacial skeleton is essential.However,the gravid status is associated with numerous anatomical and physiological changes which present with clinical dilemma related to imaging and treatment.A careful scrutiny of the patient's systermic and gestational status is absolutely essential before,during and after instituting any interventional proced-ures.We present a case of bilateral condyle fracture in a 30-year-old pregnant woman in the third trimester(32 weeks).She was treated with inter maxillary fixation using orthodontic brackets&elastics.After successful restitution of occlusion,the patient was advised aggressive physiotherapy which ensured normal mouth opening.Two weeks later,the patient delivered uneventfully.The patient was followed up at one month and 3 month and demonstrated restitution of normal occlusion,mouth opening and lower|acial height.This article aims at analyzing the contermporary principles in management of maxillfacial trauma in a pregnant woman and clarifying the common misconceptions.

Influence of heat treatment on the machinability and corrosion behavior of AZ91 Mg alloy

In the present study,AZ91 Mg alloy was heat treated at 410℃ for 6,12 and 24 h to investigate the influence of heat treatment on machinability and corrosion behavior.The effect of soaking time on the amount and distribution of Mg 17 Al 12(β-phase)was analyzed under the optical microscope.Microhardness measurements demonstrated the increased hardness with increased heat treatment soaking time,which can be attributed to the solid solution strengthening.The influence of super saturatedα-grains on reducing the cutting force(F z)with respect to increased cutting speed was observed as prominent.The corrosion behavior of the heat treated specimens was studied by conducting electrochemical tests.Surprisingly,corrosion rate of heat treated samples was observed as increased compared with the base material.From the results,it is evident that the machinability of AZ91 Mg alloy can be improved by producing super saturatedα-grains through heat treatment but at the cost of losing corrosion resistance.

Influence of Material Condition on the Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Spring Steels

During the past two decades, considerable efforts have been made in the development of high performance spring steels to meet the needs for weight and savings in the automotive industry. During the service the suspension system will be subjected to different environmental conditions, at the same time it has to sustain a variety of loads acting on it. Among all the wear of spring steel plays a vital role. In this experimental analysis an attempt has been made to investigate the performance of spring steel (EN-47 / SUP 10) under the dry sliding condition. The specimen preparation and the experimentations have been carried out according to the ASTM G99 standards. The effects of tempering and cryogenic treatments on the performance of the spring steel have also been determined. The results have revealed that the material condition has got a significant influence on the performance of the spring steel. In order to analyze the percentage contribution of different wear parameter and the material condition, the DOE and ANOvA have been made. The results have shown that the load (49.205%) has shown the highest influence and the material condition has shown 22.56% of contribution on wear behavior.

Determination and validation of HPTLC Method for Cinacalcet Hydrochloride

Cinacalcet Hydrochloride (CIN) is a new calcimimetic agent indicated for the use in hypercalcemia. The present work is aimed at development and validation of a novel and simple high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method for the analysis of Cinacalcet Hydrochloride (active pharmaceutical ingredient, API. In the method, Aluminum-backed silica gel 60 F254 plates (10 × 10 cm) were used as stationary phase and chloroform: acetonitrile (6:4, v/v) as the mobile phase, which showed compact bands of Cinacalcet HCl (RF 0.30 ± 0.02). Quantitative analysis was carried out by densitometry at a wavelength of 282 nm. Linear regression analysis for the calibration spots showed good correlation ship with regression co-efficient r2 = 0.9994 in the range of 40 - 160 ng/band. The developed method suitability for quantification of CIN was learned by validating it as per the ICH guidelines. CIN detection limit was 0.48 ng/band and the quantification limit was 1.59 ng/band. The proposed method was found to be linear (r2 = 0.999), precise (%RSD veloped method was validated and found suitable for stress induced studies, since presence of degradants has no effect on CIN estimation. The proposed method was found to be simple, sensitive, precise, accurate and reproducible for the estimation of CIN.

Safe surgical zone during TORS radical tonsillectomy:An anatomical and radiological study

Objective:Parapharyngeal space contains intricate vascular anatomy(external and internal carotid arteries)that might be inadvertently injured during the dissection in this plane.None of the bony landmarks can be used during the transoral robotic surgery(TORS)radical tonsillectomy as these landmarks lie lateral to the internal carotid artery(ICA)and external carotid artery(ECA)in transoral approach.Our study aims to identify the safe surgical limits during the dissection of parapharyneal space in TORS radical tonsillectomy and to correlate the same with radiological study.Material and methods:Fifteen cadavers(30 head and neck regions)and 50 CT-Angiogram of neck(100 head and neck regions)were included in the anatomical and radiological study respectively.The vertical midpoint of anterior tonsillar pillar(palatoglossus muscle)was taken as the reference point and all the measurements were done at the level of reference point both for anatomical and radiological study.Distance between tonsillar fossa and ECA,distance between tonsillar fossa and ICA,relation between ECA and styloglossus and relation between ICA and stylopharyngeus at reference level were studied.Results:The mean distance of ECA from the tonsillar fossa at the reference point was 18.2 mm in the anatomical study and 16.2 mm in the radiological study.The mean distance of ICA from the tonsillar fossa was 23.4 mm and 23.3 mm in the anatomical study and radiological study.There was no significant difference between the anatomical and radiological findings for both the mean distance between ECA and ICA to the tonsillar fossa(p value was 0.45 and 0.30 respectively).ECA was located posterolateral to styloglossus in 24 cases(80.0%)and 79 cases(79.0%)in the anatomical and radiological study respectively.ICA was found posterolateral to stylopharyngeus in 21 cases(70.0%)and 69 cases(69.0%)in the anatomical and radiological study respectively.Conclusion:The muscular plane between styloglossus and stylopharyngeus can be used as an envelope to locate the ECA and ICA t

HPLC Method Development and validation of S(-)-Carvedilol from API and Formulations

A simple chiral HPLC method was developed and validated for quantification of S(-)-Carvedilol in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and marketed tablet formulation of racemic Carvedilol. Chiral resolution of enantiomers of Carvedilol was achieved on Phenomenex Lux-cellulose–4 (250 mm × 4.6 mm;5 μ particle size) chiral column by using a mobile phase, Isopropanol and n-Heptane (60:40 v/v), at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min and by employing Uv detection at 254 nm wavelength. The method was validated according to the ICH guidelines and was proved to be specific, linear, precise and accurate for the analysis of S(-)-Carvedilol.

Development and validation of a High Performance Thin Layer Chromatographic Method for Quantitative Analysis of Saxagliptin

A simple, specific, accurate and precise high performance thin layer chromatographic method (HPTLC) was developed for the quantitative analysis of Saxagliptin in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The method was achieved using silica gel aluminum plate 60 F254 (10 × 10 cm) as stationary phase and Methanol:Chloroform (6:4 v/v) as mobile phase. The developed plate was scanned densitometrically using Uv 222 nm wavelength. The Rf value of Saxagliptin was found to be 0.50 ± 0.02. The developed method was validated according to ICH guidelines. Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of Saxagliptin by this method were found as 7.96 ng/spot and 26.54 ng/spot, respectively. The method was found to be sensitive, specific, linear, accurate, precise and robust for the quantitative analysis of Saxagliptin in both APIs and marketed tablet formulation.

Effects of Thermal Radiation and Radiation Absorption on Flow Past an Impulsively Started Infinite vertical Plate with Newtonian Heating and Chemical Reaction

A perfect solution to the present natural convective flow problem of a vertical transfinite plate owing to the impulsive motion in the ubiety of first ordered chemical reaction, radiation absorption, radiation, Newtonian heating and species concentration in its plane is evolved by applying the method of Laplace transforms in closed form at the plate. Exact results for velocity, temperature, concentration fields are prevailed and expressions for heat and mass transfer rates are also found. The effects are analyzed for the respective invariables for both ammonia and water vapor.
