Objective:To investigate the malaria parasitemia,CD4~+ cell counts and some haematological indices among Hiv-malaria co-infected adult patients with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).Methods:A total of 342 adult Hiv positive subjects were recruited at the consultant outpatient Hiv/AiDS *** of Benin Teaching Hospital,Benin City,Nigeria between June 2011 to November *** samples were taken for malaria parasite count,CD4~+ cell count and other haematological ***:Out of the 342 adult Hiv positive subjects a total of 254 patients(74.3%) were found to have malaria *** incidence of malaria parasitemia increased with advancing clinical stage of Hiv infection and this was statistically significant(P=0.002).There was no statistical significance when gender was compared with the Hiv-malaria status(P>0.05).Of the 254 co-infected patients,134(52.8%) had high parasitemia (>1.25×10~9/L).Sixty patients were found to be hyperparasitemic(>2.5 parasites/L).There was a significant association between CD4~+ cell count and having significant parasitemia(Pinfected patients had CD4~+ cell count≤200/μL,and majority(44.9%) of this population also had significant *** and thrombocytopenia were not significantly associated with Hiv-malaria co-infection(P>0.05).Conclusions:The prevalence of parasitemia is high among the Hiv/AiDS infected patients.

We read with interest the article entitled： ‘Jejuno-jejunal invagination due to intestinal melanoma’ by Resta , et al. They reported a rare clinical case of a young woman with a bleeding jejunal melanoma, whose early clinical presentation was an intestinal invagination. The article is also referred to the rarity of gastrointestinal melanomas as well as their possible primary nature.

Annually,10%of cirrhotic patients with ascites develop refractory ascites for which large-volume paracentesis(LvP)is a frequently used therapeutic ***,although a safe method,is associated with circulatory dysfunction in a significant percentage of patients,which is termed para-centesis-induced circulatory dysfunction(PiCD).PiCD results in faster reaccumulation of ascites,hyponatremia,renal impairment,and shorter *** is diagnosed through laboratory results,with increases of>50%of baseline plasma renin activity to a value≥4 ng/mL/h on the fifth to sixth day after *** this review,we discuss the pathophysi-ology and prevention of PiCD.

We have proposed previously a method for constructing self-conjugate Hamiltonians Hh in the h-representation with a flat scalar product to describe the dynamics of Dirac particles in arbitrary gravitational fields. in this paper, we prove that, for block-diagonal metrics, the Hamiltonians Hh can be obtained, in particular, using “reduced” parts of Dirac Hamiltonians, i.e. expressions for Dirac Hamiltonians derived using tetrad vectors in the Schwinger gauge without or with a few summands with bispinor connectivities. Based on these results, we propose a modified method for constructing Hamiltonians in the h-representation with a significantly smaller amount of required calculations. Using this method, here we for the first time find self-conjugate Hamiltonians for a number of metrics, including the Kerr metric in the Boyer-Lindquist coordinates, the Eddington-Finkelstein, Finkelstein-Lemaitre, Kruskal, Clifford torus metrics and for non-stationary metrics of open and spatially flat Friedmann models.

Our studies allowed us to establish that simulating coarctation of aorta in laboratory animals results in tone reduction of vessels carrying blood to the liver and from it and a subsequent development of their intima atrophy. in spite of that fact the number of vessels containing intimal musculature, muscularelastic sphincters and polypoid pulvini in the arterial bed flow increases and in the major outflowing veins, on the contrary, thinning of their muscular tori takes place. Appearance and functioning in the hepatic vessels of adaptive formations contributes to keeping up homeostasis at the microcirculatory level. With cardiac decompensation decreasing because of venous plethora, hypotonia and atrophy of the intima of the vessels responsible for the blood inflow to the liver and the outflow from it progress. Besides, the number of arteries and the rate of development of arteries with adaptive smooth muscle formations in the arteries, as well as in hepatic veins with muscular tori decreases dramatically. The reason of compensatory reaction failure is a long-term hypoxia leading to vessel and their adaptive formation sclerosis. The consequence of the exhaustion of the above-mentioned mechanisms is development of perisinusoidal fibrosis and depression of the transcapillary metabolism.

Present-day conditions of the Lake Kenon ecosystem are determined by a combination of natural and anthropogenic factors. We have estimated the effects of a complex of factors on the condition of the abiotic environment and on specific biological components in the lake ecosystem. Change in biogenic load has caused an increase in the role of phytoplankton in the general balance of organic matter during the high-water period. Charophytes are the main dominants of bottom vegetation. Anthropogenic load has caused a decrease in both fish species and fish capacity. The lake application as a water reservoir-cooler has influenced the average annual water mineralization （from 420 mg/L to 530.0 mg/L with a maximum 654 mg/L in 1993） and fluctuations in its hydrochemical composition. The present composition of the lake is sulfate-hydrocarbonate-chloride calcium-sodic-magnesium in character. S（Y44 content is twice as much as the maximum permissible concentration in fishery waters. Water drainage from an ash disposal area to the lake has caused an increase in chemical-element concentrations including the heavy metals. Hg concentration in Perca fluviatilis muscles is 0.5 9g/g dry wt. Thus, understanding directions in the ecosystem of the water reservoir-cooler under changing hydrological conditions will let us forecast the consequences of new combined heat and power plant operation.

Objective:To evaluate the hepatoprotective activity of Terminalia paniculata against paracetamol induced hepatic damage in ***:The plant material was shade dried, powdered and extracted with *** 52 and silymarin were used as standard drugs and 2%gum acacia as a control(vehicle).Alteration in the levels of biochemical markers of hepatic damage like AST,ALT,ALP and lipid peroxides were tested,and phytochemical tests were also ***:Paracetamol(2 g/kg) increased the serum levels of alanine aminotransfer (ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and the lipid peroxides. Treatment of Liv 52,silymarin and ethanolic extract of Terminalia paniculata(200 mg/kg) altered levels of biochemical marker and showed significant hepatoprotective *** extract revealed the presence of phenolic compound and *** findings suggested that ethanolic bark extract of Terminalia paniculata possessed hepatoprotective activity in a dose dependent ***:Terminalia paniculata possesses hepatoprotective *** could be an effective and promising preventive agent against PCT induced hepatotoxicity.

Recsod? has been used for treating epilepsy and ophthalmological disease. Oxidative stress has been demonstrated to be a pathogenic chain of these diseases. Parameters of pro- and antioxidant systems were studied in all the patients treated. Recsod? drug was shown to produce positive effect in all the patients. improvement of patients’ clinical condition correlated with an increase in antioxidant activities. Antioxidants, in particular, the recombinant human SOD drug, proved to be effective in treatment of some neurological and ophthalmological diseases.
