Comparison between CBR and CA methods for estimating land use change in Dongguan, China

Many studies on land use change （LUC）, using different approaches and models, have yielded good results. Applications of these methods have revealed both advantages and limitations. However, LUC is a complex problem due to influences of many factors, and variations in policy and natural conditions. Hence, the characteristics and regional suitability of different methods require further research, and comparison of typical approaches is required. Since the late 1980s, CA has been used to simulate urban growth, urban sprawl and land use evolution successfully. Nowadays it is very popular in resolving the LUC estimating problem. Casebased reasoning （CBR）, as an artificial intelligence technology, has also been employed to study LUC by some researchers since the 2000s. More and more researchers used the CBR method in the study of LUC. The CA approach is a mathematical system constructed from many typical simple components, which together are capable of simulating complex behavior, while CBR is a problem-oriented analysis method to solve geographic problems, particularly when the driving mechanisms of geographic processes are not yet understood fully. These two methods were completely different in the LUC research. Thus, in this paper, based on the enhanced CBR model, which is proposed in our previous research （Duet aL 2009）, a comparison between the CBR and CA approaches to assessing LUC is presented. LUC in Dongguan coastal region, China is investigated. Applications of the improved CBR and the cellular automata （CA） to the study area, produce results demonstrating a similarity estimation accuracy of 89% from the improved CBR, and 70.7% accuracy from the CA. From the results, we can see that the accuracies of the CA and CBR approaches are both 〉70%. Although CA method has the distinct advantage in predicting the urban type, CBR method has the obvious tendency in predicting non-urban type. Application of rough set-based analysis to extract spatial relationship indicator rules： An example of land use in Pearl River Delta

Spatial relations,reflecting the complex association between geographical phenomena and environments,are very important in the solution of geographical issues. Different spatial relations can be expressed by indicators which are useful for the analysis of geographical issues. Urbanization,an important geographical issue,is considered in this paper. The spatial relationship indicators concerning urbanization are expressed with a decision table. Thereafter,the spatial relationship indicator rules are extracted based on the application of rough set theory. The extraction process of spatial relationship indicator rules is illustrated with data from the urban and rural areas of Shenzhen and Hong Kong,located in the Pearl River Delta. Land use vector data of 1995 and 2000 are used. The extracted spatial relationship indicator rules of 1995 are used to identify the urban and rural areas in Zhongshan,Zhuhai and Macao. The identification accuracy is approximately 96.3%. Similar procedures are used to extract the spatial relationship indicator rules of 2000 for the urban and rural areas in Zhongshan,Zhuhai and Macao. An identification accuracy of about 83.6% is obtained.

We present detailed characterization of laser-driven fusion and neutron production(-10^(5)/second) using 8 mJ, 40 fs laser pulses on a thin(vistic intensity(~ 5 × 10^(18)W/cm^(2))and high repetition rate(1 kHz), the system produces deuterium±deuterium(D-D) fusion, allowing for consistent neutron generation. Evidence of D-D fusion neutron production is verified by a measurement suite with three independent detection systems: an EJ-309 organic scintillator with pulse-shape discrimination, a ~3He proportional counter and a set of 36 bubble detectors. Time-of-flight analysis of the scintillator data shows the energy of the produced neutrons to be consistent with 2.45 Mev. Particle-in-cell simulations using the WarpX code support significant neutron production from D-D fusion events in the laser±target interaction region. This high-repetition-rate laser-driven neutron source could provide a low-cost, on-demand test bed for radiation hardening and imaging applications.

An RF power coupler is one of the key components in a superconducting （SC） linac. It provides RF power to the SC cavity and interconnects different temperature layers （1.8 K, 4.2 K, 70 K and 300 K）. The TTF-Ⅲ coupler is one of the most promising candidates for the High Energy （HE） linac of Project X, but it cannot meet the average power requirements because of the relatively high temperature rise on the warm inner conductor, so some design modifications will be required. In this paper, we describe our simulation studies on the copper coating thickness on the warm inner conductor with RRR values of 10 and 100. Our purpose is to rebalance the dynamic and static loads, and finally lower the temperature rise along tbe warm inner conductor. In addition, to get stronger coupling, better power handling and less multipacting probability, one new cold part design was proposed using a 60 mm coaxial line; the corresponding multipacting simulation studies have also been investigated.

组织工程骨是修复大节段骨缺损的重要方法,但如何设计力学性能与宿主骨相匹配的假体仍有待研究。因此,本研究的目的是基于激光选区熔化(Selective Laser Melting,SLM)成形技术探索多孔支架的力学性能,并应用于下颌骨重建。首先,建立不同孔隙率(50%~80%)的六面体(Hexahedral,HE)、八面体(Octahedral,OC)、体心立方(Body Centred Cubic,BCC)单元结构的多孔支架模型,通过有限元模型分析支架的力学性能。其次,利用SLM成形技术制备力学性能强的多孔Ti6Al4v支架,结合压缩试验评估支架的力学性能。最后,利用最小二乘法拟合支架的孔隙率-弹性模量曲线,从而获得力学性能与下颌骨缺损区域相匹配的多孔假体。结果表明,多孔支架的峰值应力随着孔隙率的上升而上升,且与构型密切相关(BCC>OC>HE);压缩试验证明了不同孔隙率的支架的弹性模量存在显著差异性,且孔隙率与弹性模量成反比。根据六面体单元的Gibson-Ashby模型,计算得到理想的假体的孔隙率为53.1%,并且有限元分析验证了假体的安全性。通过有限元分析和压缩试验证实了不同孔隙率的支架力学性能存在差异,合适孔隙率的假体能够更好地匹配宿主骨的力学性能,为植入物设计提供一定的参考价值。

Evaluation of the carbon isotopic effects of NDIR and CRDS analyzers on atmospheric CO2 measurements

Non-dispersive infrared （NDIR） and cavity ring-down spectroscopy （CRDS） CO2 analyzers use 12CO2 isotopologue absorption lines and are insensitive to all or part of other CO2-related isotopologues. This may produce biases in CO2 mole fraction measurements of a sample if its carbon isotopic composition deviates from that of the standard gases being used. To evaluate and compare the effects of carbon isotopic composition on NDIR and CRDS CO2 analyzers, we prepared three test sample air cylinders with varying carbon isotopic abundances and calibrated them against five standard cylinders with ambient carbon isotopic composition using CRDS and NDIR systems. We found that the CO2 mole fractions of the sample cylinders measured by G1301 （CRDS） were in good agreement with those measured by LoFlo （NDIR）. The CO2 values measured by both instruments were higher than that of a CO2 isotope measured by G2201i （CRDS） analyzer for a test cylinder with depleted carbon isotopic composition δ^13C =-36.828%0, whereas no obvious difference was found for other two test cylinders with 3 δ^13C=-8.630‰ and δ^13C=-15.380‰, respectively. According to the theoretical and experimental results, we concluded that the total CO2 mole fractions of samples with depleted isotopic compositions can be corrected on the basis of their 12CO2 values calibrated by standard gases using LoFlo and G1301 if the fi13C and fi180 values are known.
