The SeridóBelt,at the extreme northeast of Brazil,is one of the several Neoproterozoic mobile belts related to the Brasiliano/Pan-African Orogeny in Western *** lithostratigraphy of the SeridóBelt comprises basal quartzites and metaconglomerates(Equador Formation)overlain by hornblende-bearing paragneisses,calc-silicate rocks and marbles(Jucurutu Formation)and biotiteschists(SeridóFormation).We investigated the sedimentary provenance of these rocks based on an integration of compiled whole-rock geochemistry,Sm-Nd isotopes,U-Pb detrital zircon ages and a new set of whole-rock trace elements *** Formation quartzites have major and trace elements patterns that resemble cratonic sandstones,with a typical felsic provenance consistent with the isotopic composition of plutonic Archean to Paleoproterozoic basement *** proxies suggest that these rocks were deposited in fresh waters under anoxic conditions and moderate to intense weathering conditions(cIA=58–79).A shift in provenance led to an increase in intermediate-mafic sources during the deposition of the Jucurutu and Seridó*** elements from rock types in these units are nearly identical,yet they differ on the contents of some high field-strength elements(e.g.,Sc,v and Ni),which are higher in the SeridóFormation than average *** proxies show similar depositional environments,with brackish to marine conditions for the Jucurutu and Seridóformations under anoxic to euxinic *** conditions are consistently lower in the Jucurutu Formation(cIA=58–66)in comparison with the SeridóFormation(cIA=60–88).compiled U-Pb data suggest maximum depositional ages of 633±11 Ma and 633±6 Ma for Jucurutu and Seridóformations,respectively,suggesting deposition following the ca.645–635 Ma Marinoan *** compared the geochemistry of the SeridóFormation schists with currently exposed basement rocks and showed a strong affinity with Neoproterozoic arc-related

Priming of intestinal cytoprotective genes and antioxidant capacity by dietary phytogenic inclusion in broilers

The potential of a phytogenic premix(PP)based on ginger,lemon balm,oregano and thyme to stimulate the expression of cytoprotective genes at the broiler gut level was evaluated in this *** particular,the effects of PP inclusion levels on a selection of genes related to host protection against oxidation(catalase[GAT],superoxide dismutase 1[SOD1],glutathione peroxidase 2[GPX2],heme oxygenase 1[HMOX1],NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1[NQO1],nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2[Nrf2]and kelch like EcH associated protein 1[Keap1]),stress(heat shock 70 kDa protein 2[HSP70]and heat shock protein 90 alpha family class A member 1[HSP90])and inflammation(nuclear factor kappa B subunit 1[NF-κB1],Toll-like receptor 2 family member B(TLR2 B)and Toll-like receptor 4[TLR4])were profiled along the broiler *** addition,broiler intestinal segments were assayed for their total antioxidant capacity(TAc).Depending on PP inclusion level(i.e.0,750,1,000 and 2,000 mg/kg diet)in the basal diets,1-d-old cobb broiler chickens(n=500)were assigned into the following 4 treatments:cON,PP-750,PP-1000 and *** treatment had 5 replicates of 25 chickens with ad libitum access to feed and *** were analyzed by ANOvA and means compared using Tukey’s honest significant difference(HSD)*** contrasts tested the linear and quadratic effect of PP inclusion *** of PP increased(P≤0.05)the expression of cytoprotective genes against oxidation,except *** particular,the cytoprotective against oxidation genes were up-regulated primarily in the duodenum and the ceca and secondarily in the *** of the genes were upregulated in a quadratic manner with increasing PP inclusion level with the highest expression levels noted in treatments PP-750 and PP-1000 compared to ***,intestinal TAc was higher in PP-1000 in the duodenum(P=0.011)and the ceca(P=0.050)compared to ***,increasing PP inclusion level resulted in linearly reduced(P<0.05)expr

DeNOx Study in Diesel Engine Exhaust Using Barrier Discharge corona Assisted by v_2O_5/TiO_2 catalyst

A plasma-assisted catalytic reactor was used to remove nitrogen oxides (NOx)from diesel engine exhaust operated under different load conditions. Initial studies were focused onplasma reactor (a dielectric barrier discharge reactor) treatment of diesel exhaust at varioustemperatures. The nitric oxide (NO) removal efficiency was lowered when high temperature exhaust wastreated using plasma reactor. Also, NO removal efficiency decreased when 45% load exhaust wastreated. Studies were then made with plasma reactor combined with a catalytic reactor consisting ofa selective catalytic reduction (ScR) catalyst, v_2O_5/TiO_2. Ammonia was used as a reducing agentfor ScR process in a ratio of 1:1 to NOx. The studies were focused on temperatures of the ScRcatalytic reactor below 200℃. The plasma-assisted catalytic reactor was operated well to remove NOxunder no-load and load conditions. For an energy input of 96 J/l, the NOx removal efficienciesobtained under no-load and load conditions were 90% and 72% respectively at an exhaust temperatureof 100 ℃.

The effects of electron irradiation on the optical properties of the organic semiconductor polypyrrole

The optical properties of polypyrrole （Ppy） thin films upon 2 Mev electron beam irradiation changes with different doses. The induced changes in the optical properties for Ppy thin films were studied in the visible range 300 to 800 nm at room temperature. The optical band gap of the pristine Ppy was found to be 2.19 cv and it decreases up to 1.97 ev for a 50 kGy dose of 2 Mev electron beam. The refractive index dispersion of the samples obeys the single oscillator model. The obtained results suggest that electron beam irradiation changes the optical parameters of Ppy thin films.

Magnesium and magnesium thin alloy films were deposited using a thermionic vacuum arc(TvA),which has multiple applications in the field of metallic electrodes for diodes and batteries or active corrosion *** improved laser-induced TvA(LTvA)method favors the crystallization processes of the deposited magnesium-based films because the interaction between laser and plasma discharge changes the thermal energy during photonic processes due to the local temperature *** diagnosis based on current discharge measurements suggests an inelastic collision between the laser beam and the atoms from the plasma *** morphology and surface properties of the obtained thin films differ between these two *** the amorphous character is dominant for TvA thin films,enabling a smooth surface,the LTvA method produces rough surfaces with prominent crystallinity,less hydrophobic character and lower surface *** smooth surfaces obtained by the TvA methods produce metallic electrodes with good electrical contact,ensuring better diodes and battery charge *** methods allow uniform magnesium alloys to be obtained,but the laser used in the LTvA on the discharge plasma controls the added metal or element ratio.

In this paper,we report on the crystal structure and magnetic properties of the nano structured Baordered phases of rare-earth manganites obtained from the optimally doped solid solutions Ln0.70Ba0.30MnO3(Ln=Pr,Nd).The materials were studied by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy and SQUID-magnetometry *** is found that states with different degrees of cation ordering in the A-sublattice of the ABO3 perovskite can be obtained by employing special conditions of chemical *** particular,reduction of the parent compounds results in the formation of a nanocomposite containing ferrimagnetic anion-deficient ordered phase *** of the composite does not change an average size of the nanocrystallites,but drastically alters their phase composition to stabilize ferromagnetic stoichiometric ordered phase LnBaMn2O6 and ferromagnetic superstoichiometric disordered phase Ln0.90Ba0.10MnO3+δ.It is shown that the magnetic properties of the materials are determined by the joint action of chemical(cation ordering)and external(surface tension)pressures.

Effective removal of automobile exhausts over flower-like ce_(1-x)cu_xO_2 nanocatalysts exposed active {100} plane

This work elucidates the synthesis and characterization of copper ions incorporated ceria(ce1-xcuxO2)nanocatalysts with 3 D flower-like and nanocrystalline morphology for the purification of automobile exhausts. XRD and Raman results confirm the presence of copper ions in ceria. The 3 D flower-like and nanocrystalline morphology exhibited by these catalysts were seen by FESEM images. HRTEM and SAED results confirm that(100) plane is dominantly presented in 3 D flower-like ce1-xcuxO2catalysts when compared to nanocrystalline morphology. The textural properties of synthesized catalysts was done with the help of N2 sorption study, which confirms that flower-like ce1-xcuxO2catalysts show high surface area and pore volume. The existence of ce3+, ce4+, cu+and cu2+ions in the catalyst were examined by XPS and DR Uv-vis techniques. Oxygen storage capacity(OSc) of the catalysts was studied by H2-TPR analysis. These characterization results elucidate the presence of dominant active sites(ce3+, ce4+, cu+and cu2+) and {100} plane in the flower-like morphology compared to nanocrystalline. The catalytic activity of synthesized ce1-xcuxO2catalysts was tested for removal of cO, Hcxand NO gases from automobile emission with respect to the copper content and morphology. The obtained results indicate that the presence of optimum amount of copper in ceria with flower-like morphology is essential for the removal of cO, Hcxand NO at low temperature via redox process, which is due to the presence of active sites on the dominant {100} plane.

The sub-micron（of the order of 150 nm） thick core–shell composite fibers of magnesium ferrite-polyvinylidene fluoride are prepared by *** loading of magnesium ferrite is varied from 1 to 10 wt%.The study results by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,and infra-red spectroscopy indicate the formation of core–shell structure and an enhancement in the amount of b-phase compared to a-phase in the polyvinylidene *** particle size of the magnesium ferrite in the fiber is evaluated to be 30 *** low frequency dielectric studies indicate that the addition of the magnesium ferrite increases the polarization resulting in the increase in the dielectric constant but decreases the dielectric *** magnetization measurements indicate an increased value of coercivity compared to bulk due to the nano-size of the magnesium *** microwave absorption at the ferromagnetic resonance increases with the increase in the concentration of magnesium *** resonance field is found to vary with the loading of MFO.
