The oxovanadium（Iv） complexes of the Schiff base hydrazones, synthesized from 3-hydrazinoquinoxaline-2- one （HQO） with salicylaldehyde （HSHQO）, o-hydroxyacetophenone （HHAHQO）, dehydroacetic acid （HDHAHQO） and o-nitrobenzaldehyde （NBHQO） were synthesized and characterized on the basis of analytical, conductance, magnetic moment, infrared, NMR, ESR and electronic spectral data. The ligands HSHQO, HDHAHQO behaved as monobasic tridentate ONN donors through phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogens. The ligand HAHQO acted as a monobasic bidentate ON donor through the phenolic oxygen, azomethine （free） nitrogen and the ligand NBHQO acted as neutral bidentate ON donor through oxygen of the nitro group and azomethine （free） nitrogen.

BACKGROUND Newer models of cardiac rehabilitation(CR)delivery are promising but depend upon patient participation and ability to use technological media including Internet and smart *** To explore the availability of smart devices,current utilization and proficiency of use among older CR program *** Study participants were enrolled from four CR programs in Omaha,Nebraska United States and completed a questionnaire of 28 *** Of 376 participants approached,169 responded(45%).Mean age was 71.1(SD±10)*** were 73.5%males,89.7%Caucasians,52%with college degree and 56.9%,with income of 40 K$or *** device ownership was84.5%;desktop computer was the most preferred *** Internet use was 1.9 h/d(SD±1.7);54.3%of participants indicating for general usage but only18.4%pursued health-related *** of other health information modalities was low,29.8%used mobile health applications and 12.5%used wearable *** all participants,72%reported no barriers to using *** and income were associated positively with measures of utilization and with less perceived *** an older group of subjects attending CR,most have access to smart devices and do not perceive significant barriers to Internet ***,there was low utilization of health-related resources suggesting a need for targeted education in this patient population.

AIM To investigate if patent foramen ovale(PFO) closure device reduces the risk of recurrent stroke in patients with cryptogenic *** We searched five databases-Pub Med,EMBASE,Cochrane,CINAHL and Web-of-Science and *** from January 2000 to September 2017 for randomized trials comparing PFO closure to medical therapy in cryptogenic *** was determined using Cochrane's Q *** effects model was *** Five randomized controlled trials with 3440 patients were included in the *** follow-up was 50 ± 20 *** closure was associated with a 41% reduction in incidence of recurrent strokes when compared to medical therapy alone in patients with cryptogenic stroke [risk ratio(RR): 0.59,95%CI: 0.40-0.87,P = 0.008].Atrial fibrillation was higher with device closure when compared to medical therapy alone(RR: 4.97,95%CI: 2.22-11.11,P verse *** PFO device closure in appropriately selected patients with moderate to severe right-to-left shunt and/or atrial septal aneurysm shows benefit with respect to recurrent strokes,particularly in younger *** studies are essential to evaluate the impact of higher incidence of atrial fibrillation seen with the PFO closure device on long-term mortality and stroke rates.

Ivabradine in the treatment of systolic heart failure- A systematic review and meta-analysis

AIM To perform a systematic-review and meta-analysis to compare outcomes of ivabradine combined with betablocker to beta-blocker alone in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFr EF).METHODS We searched PubM ed, Cochrane, EMBASE, CINAHL and Web of Science for trials comparing ivabradine + betablocker to beta-blocker alone in HFr EF. We performed a systematic-review and meta-analysis of published literature. Primary end-point was combined end point of cardiac death and hospitalization for heart *** Six studies with 17671 patients were included. Mean follow-up was 8.7 ± 7.9 mo. Combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death was better in ivabradine + beta-blocker group compared to beta-blocker alone(RR: 0.93, 95%CI: 0.79-1.09, P = 0.354). Mean difference(MD) in heart rate was higher in the ivabradine + beta-blocker group(MD: 6.14, 95%CI: 3.80-8.48, P vascular mortality(RR: 0.99, 95%CI: 0.86-1.15, P = 0.908) or heart failure hospitalization(RR: 0.87, 95%CI: 0.68-1.11, P = 0.271). CONCLUSION From the available clinical trials, ivabradine + betablocker resulted in a significantly greater reduction in HRcoupled with improvement in combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death but with no improvement in all cause or cardiovascular mortality. Given the limited evidence, further randomized controlled trials are essential before widespread clinical application of ivabradine + beta-blocker is advocated for HFrEF.

AIM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of surgical left atrial appendage occlusion(s-LAAO) during concomitant cardiac *** We performed a comprehensive literature search through May 31 st 2018 for all eligible studies comparing s-LAAO vs no occlusion in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Clinical outcomes during follow-up included: embolic events, stroke, all-cause mortality, atrial fibrillation(AF), reoperation for bleeding and postoperative complications. We further stratified the analysis based on propensity matched studies and AF *** Twelve studies(n = 40107) met the inclusion criteria.s-LAAO was associated with lower risk of embolic events(OR: 0.63, 95%CI: 0.53-0.76; P ve *** Concomitant s-LAAO during cardiac surgery was associated with lower risk of follow-up thromboembolic events and stroke, especially in those with AF without significant increase in adverse events. Further randomized trials to evaluate long-term benefits of s-LAAO are warranted.
