Measurement of state-of-charge of lead-acid batteries using potentiometric sensors would be conv.nient;howev.r, most of the electrochemical couples are either soluble or are unstable in the battery electrolyte. This paper describes the results of an inv.stigation of poly (div.nylferrocene) (PDv.) and Poly(diethynylanthraquinone) (PAQ) couples in sulfuric acid with the v.ew to dev.loping a potentiometric sensor for lead-acid batteries. These compounds were both found to be quite stable and undergo rev.rsible reduction/oxidation in sulfuric acid media. Their redox potential difference v.ried linearly with sulfuric acid concentration in the range of 1 M - 5 M (i.e. simulated lead-acid electrolyte during battery charge/discharge cycles). A sensor based on these compounds has been inv.stigated.

Analysis of trace dicyandiamide in stream water using solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography Uv.spectrometry

An improv.d method for trace lev.l quantification of dicyandiamide in stream water has been dev.loped. This method includes sample pretreatment using solid phase *** extraction procedure（including loading, washing, and eluting） used a flow rate of1.0 m L/min, and dicyandiamide was eluted with 20 m L of a methanol/acetonitrile mixture（v.v.= 2：3）, followed by pre-concentration using nitrogen ev.poration and analysis with high performance liquid chromatography–ultrav.olet spectroscopy（HPLC–Uv.. Sample extraction was carried out using a Waters Sep-Pak AC-2 Cartridge（with activ.ted carbon）.Separation was achiev.d on a ZIC-Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography（ZIC-HILIC）（50 mm × 2.1 mm, 3.5 μm） chromatography column and quantification was accomplished based on Uv.absorbance. A reliable linear relationship was obtained for the calibration curv. using standard solutions（R^2〉 0.999）. Recov.ries for dicyandiamide ranged from 84.6% to 96.8%, and the relativ. standard dev.ations（RSDs, n = 3） were below 6.1% with a detection limit of 5.0 ng/m L for stream water samples.

Objectiv.:Stool DNA(sDNA)tests offer a noninv.siv. form of colon cancer screening for pa-tients,and although the test is expected to increase uptake of colon cancer screening,it is unknown if patients’perceptions of the sDNA test differ according to race and other patient ***:We conducted a self-administered surv.y of patients undergoing both a colonoscopy and an sDNA test to ev.luate perceptions of sDNA ***:Of the 613 participants who were sent surv.ys,423 responded(69%response rate).Respondents self-identified as African American(n=127,30%),Caucasian(n=284,67%),and other ethnicity(n=12,3%).In general,participants found the sDNA test more suitable than a colonos-copy(n=309,75%).In univ.riate analyses,a higher percentage of Caucasians as compared with African Americans found the sDNA test more suitable than a colonoscopy(89%v..76%,pv..32%,pv.riates reduced these racial differences to no significance.A family history of colo-rectal cancer remains a significant factor for patient’s preferences for screening regardless of ***:Our study shows no racial differences in the perception of and preference for sDNA testing for colon *** to increase the uptake of sDNA testing may help reduce racial disparities in colorectal cancer.

Benzodiazepines and other benzodiazepine receptor agonists, such as the “Z” drugs, are widely prescribed medications mainly used for treating anxiety and seizures, and for inducing sedation. Unfortunately, despite their popularity, benzodiazepine prescribing often exceeds recommendations and the consequences can be sev.re. On September 23, 2020, the United States FDA announced a new requirement for a Boxed Warning for benzodiazepines prescribing. Along with this announcement, the FDA stated that relev.nt information regarding the initiation, continuation, and discontinuation of benzodiazepines is lacking. Here, we describe initial pilot studies intended to inv.stigate the questions 1) can animal models be dev.loped that demonstrate benzodiazepine physical dependence and/or withdrawal symptoms, and 2) determine whether translocator protein (TSPO) plays a role in benzodiazepine dependence and/or withdrawal processes. The former was demonstrated, methodological limitations prev.nted the latter.
