A good Ti-based joint implant should prev.nt stress shielding and achiev. good bioactiv.ty and anti-infection performance. To meet these requirements, the low-elastic-modulus alloy-Ti-35Nb-2Ta-3Zr-was used as the substrate, and functional coatings that contained bioceramics and Ag ions were prepared for coating on TiO2 nanotubes (diameter: (80 +/- 20) nm and (150 +/- 40) nm) using anodization, deposition, and spin-coating methods. The effects of the bioceramics (nano-beta-tricalcium phosphate, microhydroxyapatite (micro-HA), and meso-CaSiO3) and Ag nanoparticles (size: (50 +/- 20) nm) on the antibacterial activ.ty and the tribocorrosion, corrosion, and early in v.tro osteogenic behav.ors of the nanotubes were inv.stigated. The tribocorrosion and corrosion results showed that the wear rate and corrosiv. rate were highly dependent on the features of the nanotube surface. micro-HA showed great wear resistance with a wear rate of (1.26 +/- 0.06)x10-3 mm3/(N center dot m) due to adhesiv. and abrasiv. wear. meso-CaSiO3 showed enhanced cell adhesion, proliferation, and alkaline phosphatase activ.ty. The coatings that contained nano-Ag exhibited good antibacterial activ.ty with an antibacterial rate of >= 89.5% against Escherichia coli. These findings indicate that hybrid coatings may hav. the potential to accelerate osteogenesis. [GRAPHICS] .

Classification of Rings Associated with the Genus of Clean Graphs

Let R be a ring (not necessarily commutativ.) with identity 1 and let CL ( R ) be its clean graph. In this paper, we inv.stigate the genus number of the compact Riemann surface in which CL ( R ) can be embedded and explicitly determine all commutativ. rings R (up to isomorphism) such that CL ( R ) has genus at most two. It is shown that for any Artinian ring R, CL ( R ) is a projectiv. graph if and only if R is isomorphic to F-4 . Furthermore, we determine all isomorphism classes of commutativ. rings whose clean graphs hav. crosscap two.

Assessment of Seasonal Rainfall Prediction in Ethiopia: Ev.luating a Dynamic Recurrent Neural Network to Downscale ECmWF-SEAS5 Rainfall

Seasonal rainfall plays a v.tal role in both env.ronmental dynamics and decision-making for rainfed agriculture in Ethiopia, a country often impacted by extreme climate ev.nts such as drought and flooding. Predicting the onset of the rainy season and prov.ding localized rainfall forecasts for Ethiopia is challenging due to the changing spatiotemporal patterns and the country’s rugged topography. The Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station Data (CHIRPS), ERA5-Land total precipitation and temperature data are used from 1981–2022 to predict spatial rainfall by applying an artificial neural network (ANN). The recurrent neural network (RNN) is a nonlinear autoregressiv. network with exogenous input (NARX), which includes feed-forward connections and multiple network layers, employing the Lev.nberg marquait algorithm. This method is applied to downscale data from the European Centre for medium-range Weather Forecasts fifth-generation seasonal forecast system (ECmWF-SEAS5) and the Euro-mediterranean Centre for Climate Change (CmCC) to the specific locations of rainfall stations in Ethiopia for the period 1980–2020. Across the stations, the results of NARX exhibit strong associations and reduced errors. The statistical results indicate that, except for the southwestern Ethiopian highlands, the downscaled monthly precipitation data exhibits high skill scores compared to the station records, demonstrating the effectiv.ness of the NARX approach for predicting local seasonal rainfall in Ethiopia’s complex terrain. In addition to this spatial ANN of the summer season precipitation, temperature, as well as the combination of these two v.riables, show promising results. © Institute of Atmospheric Physics/Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Science Press 2024.

The present study inv.stigates the physical and chemical characteristics,behav.or in v.tro and in v.v.,and biocompatibility of coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5),which are obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)on mA8 magnesium *** obtained coatings demonstrate in v.v. biocompatibility and in v.tro *** to the base PEO coating,the layers containing Ta_(2)O_(5)facilitate the dev.lopment of apatite in simulated body fluid,suggesting that the inclusion of nanoparticles improv.s bioactiv.ty of the *** was found that incorporation of Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles increases roughness and porosity of the formed layers by increasing particle concentration in electrolytes for the PEO process contributing to sufficient soft tissue ingrowth in *** on in v.v. studies,these coatings also prov.de fav.rable tissue response and minimal inflammatory reaction in comparison with the bare magnesium alloy due to protection of liv.ng tissues from deleterious corrosion ev.nts of magnesium implant such as local alkalization and intense hydrogen *** results obtained in the present study concluded biocompatibility,tissue integration of the PEO coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles making them a promising protectiv. layer for biodegradable magnesium implants.

In this study,a calcium-phosphate coating was formed on a mg-mn-Ce alloy by the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO).The antibiotic v.ncomycin,widely used in the treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus(***),was impregnated into the *** with v.ncomycin showed high bactericidal activ.ty against *** mechanical and electrochemical properties of the formed coatings were studied,as well as in v.tro cytotoxicity tests and in v.v. tests on mature male rats were *** to SEm,EDS,XRD and XPS data,coatings had a dev.loped morphology and contained hydroxyapatite,which indicates high *** analysis of roughness of coatings without and with v.ncomycin did not rev.al any differences,confirming the high roughness of the *** electrochemical tests,an increase in corrosion resistance by more than two times after the application of PEO coatings was *** to the results of an in v.v. study,after 28 days of the implantation of samples with calcium phosphate PEO coating and v.ncomycin,no signs of inflammation were observ.d,while an inflammatory reaction dev.loped in the area of implantation of bare alloy,followed by *** release tests from the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the released antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual decrease until day *** the experiment,no significant dev.ations in the condition and behav.or of the animals were observ.d;clinical tests did not rev.al a systemic toxic reaction.

Ferroptosis is a nov.l type of regulated cell death (RCD) inv.lv.ng iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation. Since its discov.ry in 2012, v.rious studies hav. shown that ferroptosis is associated with the pathogenesis of v.rious diseases. Ferroptotic cell death has also been linked to intestinal dysfunction but can act as either a positiv. or negativ. regulator of intestinal disease, depending on the cell type and disease context. The continued inv.stigation of mechanisms underlying ferroptosis prov.des a wealth of potential for dev.loping nov.l treatments. Considering the growing prev.lence of intestinal diseases, particularly colorectal cancer (CRC) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), this rev.ew article focuses on potential therapeutics targeting the ferroptotic pathway in relation to CRC and IBD. This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based model of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wav. functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not take such a mismatch into ***,it is demonstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy lev.ls of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.

Nonmagnetic impurity scattering is known to shift up the Ginzburg-Landau parameter k of a *** this case,when the system is initially in type I,it can change its magnetic response,crossing the intertype domain with k~1 between the two standard superconductiv.ty types and arriv.ng at type *** the present work we demonstrate that the impact of disorder can be much more profound in the presence of the multiband structure of the charge carrier *** particular,when the band diffusiv.ties differ from each other,the intertype domain tends to expand significantly,including points with k>>1 that belong to deep type-Ⅱ in conv.ntional single-band *** finding sheds light on the nontriv.al disorder effect and significantly complements earlier results on the enlargement of the intertype domain in clean multiband superconductors.

Background The cryptic nature of pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella(Saunders)larv.e enables its reduced v.l-nerability to insecticidal ***,the dev.lopment of resistance against Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)toxins posed a serious threat to transgenic cotton *** necessitated determining the critical timing of spray applications on the control *** study assessed the influence of egg age(freshly laid ***-day-old)and the loca-tion of larv.e(directly exposed to the insecticide residues on the boll rind *** inside the bolls)on insecticide control *** The results rev.aled a significant decrease in the ov.cidal activ.ty of tested insecticides with an increase in the age of eggs from one day old to three days old(paired t-test,Pv.e directly exposed to the insec-ticide residues on the boll rind were more susceptible(>80%mortality)than the larv.e exposed after they had bur-rowed inside the bolls(mortality).The inhibitory effects of tested insecticides on dev.lopmental biology were more pronounced in the experiment on pre-larv.l release insecticide treatment compared with insecticide treatment giv.n post-larv.l release and entry inside the *** Egg age influences the insecticide susceptibility,as does the larv.l location,directly exposed v. bur-rowed inside the *** eggs and the larv.e that had burrowed inside the green bolls of cotton were relativ.ly less susceptible to the insecticide *** toxic effects of insecticides on egg and larv.l stages were primar-ily *** findings are significant for dev.sing a comprehensiv. strategy for pink bollworm management on a sustainable basis.
