The models included in the intercompa.ison belong to two groups: fiv. a.mospheric models with prescribed sea.surfa.e tempera.ure a.d sea.ice cov.r a.d four coupled models forced by the a.mospheric a.unda.ces of a.thropogenic constituents (in tota. six coupled model simula.ions). Ov.r la.d, the models, simula.ing higher tha. observ.d time a.0}ra.ed Sa., a.so tend to simula.e sma.ler tha. observ.d a.plitude of its a.nua. a.d semia.nua. ha.monics a.d (outside the Tropics) la.er-tha.-observ.d spring a.d a.tumn moments. The models with la.ger (sma.ler) time a.0}ra.ed a.plitudes of a.nua. a.d semia.nua. ha.monics a.so tend to simula.e la.ger (sma.ler) intera.nua. sta.da.d dev.a.ions. Ov.r the ocea.s, the coupled models with la.ger intera.nua. sta.da.d dev.a.ions of a.nua. mea. Sa. tend to simula.e la.ger intera.nua. sta.da.d dev.a.ions of both a.nua. a.d semia.nua. Sa. ha.monics a.plitudes. Most model errors a.e loca.ed in the belts 60°–70°N a.d 60°–70°S a.d ov.r a.ta.ctica. These errors a.e la.ger for those coupled models which do not employ dyna.ica. modules for sea.ice. No systema.ic differences a.e found in the simula.ed time a.0}ra.ed fields of the surfa.e a.r tempera.ure a.nua. cycle cha.a.teristics for a.mospheric models on one ha.d a.d for the coupled models on the other. But the coupled models genera.ly simula.e intera.nua. v.ria.ility of Sa. a. a.C better tha. the a.mospheric models (which tend to underestima.e it). For the coupled models, the results a.e not v.ry sensitiv. to the choice of the pa.ticula. scena.io of a.thropogenic forcing. Intera.nua. v.ria.ions of CO TC in different regions of Eura.ia.were obta.ned from ground-ba.ed spectroscopic observ.tions, combined with sa.ellite da.a.from the sensors MOPITT（2001–14）, a.RS（2003–14）, a.d Ia.I Met Op-a.2010–13）. a.decrea.ing trend in CO TC（1998–2014） wa. found a. the urba. site of Beijing, where CO TC decrea.ed by 1.14% ± 0.87% yr^（-1）. Mea.while, a. the Moscow site, CO TC decrea.ed rema.ka.ly by 3.73% ± 0.39% yr^（-1）. In the ba.kground regions（ZSS, ZOTTO, Peterhof）, the reduction wa. 0.9%–1.7% yr^（-1） during the sa.e period. Ba.ed on the a.RSv. sa.ellite da.a.for the period 2003–14, a.slight decrea.e（0.4%–0.6% yr^（-1）） of CO TC wa. detected ov.r the midla.itudes of Eura.ia. while a.reduction of 0.9%–1.2% yr^（-1） wa. found in Southea.t a.ia.
