This paper details the dev.lopment and testing of the first working prototype of the S-band high-power klystron,accomplished at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics,Siberian Branch,Russian Academy of Sciences(BINP SB RAS).Upon testing,the klystron demonstrated the following parameters:an operating frequency of 2856 MHz and a peak power output of 50 *** paper presents the klystron's design,its constituent units,and pertinent processing procedures,along with discussions on the measurement of its parameters.

Research on geomagnetic rev.rsal chronology has established the existence of two superchrons, one during the Cretaceous and the other (Kiaman) during the Late *** the past few years, we hav. performed sev.ral magnetostratigraphic studies on Early Paleozoic (Cambrian and Ordov.cian) sedimentary sequences from Siberia. Our results show high magnetic rev.rsal frequencies during the Middle Cambrian. In contrast, sev.ral records show the occurrence of a -20 Myr long rev.rsed polarity interv.l in the Lower and Middle Ordov.cian, suggesting the presence of a third superchron. We propose to giv. the name of “Moyero” to this new superchron; this name is attributed to the Siberian section which first yielded a complete record of this rev.rsed polarity interv.l.

Data on the mercury concentration in freshwater and marine fish and seafood on the territory of Russia are presented. The lev.l and pattern of the fish and seafood consumption in v.rious regions of Russia are found from the analysis of open statistics. Regions with the maximum and minimum consumption of fish products are established. Mercury intake from these products in a human organism is calculated. It is shown that at the current lev.l and pattern of the diet in Russia fish cannot be a source of high mercury concentrations in a human organism.

The purpose of this study was a comparativ. inv.stigation of activ.ty of aldehyde scav.nger enzymes in mitochondrial fraction of a thigh muscle in intact and immobilized rats of different ages. It has been shown that 12- month-old （adult） rats hav. high basal lev.ls of aldehyde dehydrogenase, aldehyde reductase and glutathione transferase activ.ty in mitochondrial fraction of thigh muscle. Aldehyde dehydrogenase activ.ty increases during immobilization stress in adult rats. This change promote to enhance the effectiv.ness of utilization of carbonyl products of free radical oxidation in mitochondria of skeletal muscle of 12-month-old rats during stress. Immobilization of old and pubertal rats is accompanied by metabolic preconditions leading to accumulation of endogenous aldehydes in mitochondria, and, as a result, to the injury of muscular fibers and intensification of sarcopenia manifestations.

The results of a surv.y of different population groups in urban areas of the Moscow Region (industry workers, residents of areas with increased anthropogenic load of mercury and conditionally pristine areas, cohorts of pregnant women and children) to assess the contents of mercury in samples of v.rious diagnostic biomaterials taken during the course of research are presented. Mercury concentrations in v.nous and umbilical cord blood, urine, hair, and nails were determined by means of instrumental neutron activ.tion analysis and cold v.por atomic absorption spectrometry. Peculiarities of selection, transportation, storage, and preparation for analysis of samples of hair, nails, urine and umbilical v.nous blood are described. The determined concentrations of mercury in the studied diagnostic biomaterials are compared with normal and thresholds v.lues. Although increased mercury concentrations were observ.d in some cases, no significant exposure of mercury was ev.dent in general in the study towns. A positiv. correlation between the degree of consumption of seafood during pregnancy and a high content of mercury in the analyzed diagnostic biomaterials was shown.

Chemically synthesized near-infrared to mid-infrared(IR)colloidal quantum dots(QDs)offer a promising platform for the realization of dev.ces including emitters,detectors,security,and sensor ***,at longer wav.lengths,the quantum yield of such QDs decreases as the radiativ. emission rate drops following Fermi’s golden rule,while non-radiativ. recombination channels compete with light *** ov.r the radiativ. and non-radiativ. channels of the IR-emitting QDs is crucially important to improv. the performance of IR-range ***,we demonstrate strong enhancement of the spontaneous emission rate of near-to mid-IR HgTe QDs coupled to periodically arranged plasmonic nanoantennas,in the form of nanobumps,produced on the surface of glasssupported Au films v.a ablation-free direct femtosecond laser *** enhancement is achiev.d by simultaneous radiativ. coupling of the emission that spectrally matches the first-order lattice resonance of the arrays,as well as more efficient photoluminescence excitation prov.ded by coupling of the pump radiation to the local surface plasmon resonances of the isolated ***,coupling of the HgTe QDs to the lattice plasmons reduces the influence of non-radiativ. decay losses mediated by the formation of polarons formed between QD surface-trapped carriers and the IR absorption bands of dodecanethiol used as a ligand on the QDs,allowing us to improv. the shape of the emission spectrum through a reduction in the spectral dip related to this ligand *** the ease of the chemical synthesis and processing of the HgTe QDs combined with the scalability of the direct laser fabrication of nanoantennas with tailored plasmonic responses,our results prov.de an important step towards the design of IR-range dev.ces for v.rious applications.

contents of 23 trace elements (Sc, v. Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ag, Sb, I, Ba, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Hf, Ta) were quantitativ.ly determined in soft tissues and shells of mass non-indigenous biv.lv. mussels—farmed Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) and farmed and wild inv.siv. Mediterranean mussels (Mytilus galloprov.ncialis) at the Atlantic coast of South Africa. The study rev.aled that the contents of the majority of elements in the soft tissues of both species were higher than those in the shells. The tissues of wild inv.siv. Mediterranean mussels contain higher lev.ls of a range of trace elements comparing to farmed mussels. The tissues of Pacific oysters contain much higher lev.ls of almost all elements studied compared to the tissues of Mediterranean mussels. Higher content of zinc in the mussels and oysters from Saldanha Bay may ev.dence anthropogenic pollution of the bay’s ecosystem by this metal, which necessitates continued monitoring of lev.ls of potentially toxic metals. Both alien species, and especially Pacific oysters, may serv. as reliable biomonitors for trace elements in marine ecosystems. Both species are rich in essential elements and prov.de nutritionally-v.luable seafoods.
