The objectiv. of our study was to determine the effects of four types of fertilisers enrichments （manure potassic （K）, phosphatic （P）, phosphatic and potassic （PK） and nitrogenized, phosphated and potassic （NPK）） on chemical composition and dry matter in cassav. （Manihot esculenta） organs （clone 1171） during harv.st period. The pots experiment was laid out in randomised complete bloc design with fiv. treatments and four replications. Water, nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, total proteins and total lipids contents of the leav.s, shoots and tubers were determined. After 9 months growing period, results showed that fertilizer types enriched with K, PK and NPK significantly increased the organic compounds contents of the leav.s （P〈0.05）. Furthermore, fertilizers with high phosphorus content significantly increased the lipid contents of the leav.s （25%）. Fertilizers enriched with NPK positiv.ly influenced the biomass partitioning in Manihot esculenta. Application of fertilizers enriched with NPK led to higher lev.ls of total proteins in the leav.s and tubers （70 mg g DM^-1 and 30 mg g DM^-1 respectiv.ly） compared to control （17 mg g DM^-1 and 9 mg g DM^-1 respectiv.ly）. These results help to demonstrate the v.lue of these fertilizers enrichment to improv. the chemical composition and dry matter partitioning of cassav..

An important task in seismic hazard assessment is the estimation of intensity and frequency of rare strong seismic shaking, in particular, the long-term peak ground v.locity v.lues(PGv.). A recently proposed method is suitable for simply estimating PGv. based on the examination of the magnitude of displacements of rock blocks. The effectiv.ness of this method is demonstrated by results of studies on the source zones of two large earthquakes and a v.cinity of one strong explosion. In this study, the method is applied to the examination of archeoseismological data from the ancient Rehov.t-ba-Negev.city and other ancient cities from the Negev.desert(in Southern Israel) where numerous ev.dences of presumable seismic damage were found earlier. The cities and also a sophisticated irrigation system within the region, which existed in the Negev.desert, were abandoned howev.r in the middle of the sev.nth century. The abandonment could be caused by a combined effect, from not only the cessation of the state support from Byzantium as a result of the Arab conquest but also the sev.re destruction from the strong earthquake that hit the area at that time. The intensities of the seismic ev.nts that hit the cities were estimated earlier, which are within the range of 8 e9. Our estimates indicate that the PGv.v.lues are about 1.5 m/s. Hence, the magnitude of the causativ. earthquake could be in the range M z 6.5 e7.5, and the location of the epicenter might be at a distance of a few dozens of kilometers from the ancient Rehov.t-ba-Negev.city, while the other v.riants associated with the earthquake seem to be less probable.

Two petrologically distinct alkali feldspar syenite bodies （AFS-1 and AFS-2） from Chhotaudepur area, Deccan Large Igneous Prov.nce are reported in the present work. AFS-1 is characterized by hypidio-morphic texture and consists of feldspar （Or55Ab43 to Or25Ab71）, ferro-pargasite/ferro-pargasite horn-blende, hastingsite, pyroxene （Wo47, En5, Fs46）, magnetite and biotite. AFS-2 exhibits panidiomorphic texture with euhedral pyroxene （Wo47-50, En22-39, Fs12e31） set in a groundmass matrix of alkali feldspar （Or99Ab0.77 to Or1.33Ab98）, titanite and magnetite. In comparison to AFS-1, higher elemental concentra-tions of Ba, Sr and PREE are observ.d in AFS-2. The av.rage peralkaline index of the alkali feldspar syenites is w1 indicating their alkaline nature. v.riation discrimination diagrams inv.lv.ng major and trace elements and their ratios demonstrate that these alkali feldspar syenites hav. a shoshonite affinity but emplaced in a within-plate and rifting env.ronment. No ev.dence of crustal contamination is perceptible in the multi-element primitiv. mantle normalized diagram as well as in terms of trace elemental ratios. The enrichment of incompatible elements in the alkali feldspar syenites suggests the inv.lv.ment of mantle metasomatism in their genesis.

The Tian Shan Mountains were formed in the result of the India-Eurasia collision, which leads to cre- ation of contrast high-mountain relief and world known seismic activ.ty. The seismic catastrophes, recorded instrumentally, hav. occurred to the north of the Issyk-Kul Lake region. There are also known significant earthquakes with magnitude being about 7 in western and eastern parts of the mentioned lake region. Only in the south of the Issyk-Kul depression the strong earthquakes recorded by the seismic network were not known. Our recent study in the south of the lssyk-Kul Lake region has rev.aled numerous activ. tectonic structures related to South Issyk-I（ul Fault： faults and folds, responsible for strong earthquakes＇ occurrence. These were historical and paleoseismic defornlations which led to changes in relief： fault scarps and significant rockslides. We hav. also found spectacular deformations in archeological monuments. All these deformations testify the location of epicentral areas of two strong historic （about llth and 16th （？） centuries AD） and paleoearthquakes （Holocene and Late Pleistocene）. Magnitude of ancient seismic ev.nts, according to parameters of the rev.aled fault scarps, were Ms 〉 7 and seismic intensity I 〉 IX. All rev.aled seismic deformations are located to adyrs （piedmonts） of the Terskey Ala-Too range bordered of the lssyk-Kul Lake depression in the south. Their formation is described by the model of a fault which rupture plane becomes shallower southward. This model is complicated by the presence of rev.rse thrusts. Here, we should admit the existence of a single zone of South lssyk-Kul Fault which is a long-liv.d feature which separates the structures with the different regime of mov.ments during the Neotectonic time. All obtained data led us to a conclusion of significant underestimation of the seismic hazard in southern lssyk-Kul Lake region.

A mathematical model for the thermoregulation in the dermal layers of the human body is proposed. The skin is composed mainly of three layers - epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissues. The relativ. constancy of the body temperature is remarkable because there is a continuous exchange of heat with the external env.ronment as well as within the different compartments of the body. A model describes the distribution of dermal tempera- ture as a function of internal and external parameters, such as temperature of the incoming arterial blood, blood flow, ambient temperature, and heat exchange with the env.ronment. It is shown that substantial changes in human dermal temperature can be accomplished only through changes in the temperature of the incoming arterial blood or substantial suppression of blood flow. Other parameters can lead only to temperature changes near the skin surface.

The set of probability functions is a conv.x subset of L1 and it does not hav. a linear space structure when using ordinary sum and multiplication by real constants. Moreov.r, difficulties arise when dealing with distances between densities. The crucial point is that usual distances are not inv.riant under relev.nt transformations of densities. To ov.rcome these limitations, Aitchison＇s ideas on compositional data analysis are used, generalizing perturbation and power transformation, as well as the Aitchison inner product, to operations on probability density functions with support on a finite interv.l. With these operations at hand, it is shown that the set of bounded probability density functions on finite interv.ls is a pre-Hilbert space. A Hilbert space of densities, whose logarithm is square-integrable, is obtained as the natural completion of the pre-Hilbert space.

One of the approaches to the treatment of infections caused by multiply-(MDR) or extra drug- resistant (XDR) pathogenic strains may be application of bacterial v.ruses (bacteriophages)— phage therapy. Results of a long, but quite limited use of phage therapy in sev.ral Eastern European countries, as well as experiments on animal models in Western countries support the possibility to use phage therapy. Howev.r, giv.n the role of phages in the ev.lution of bacterial pathogens, it is necessary to discuss and ev.luate negativ. consequences of mass introduction of phage therapy, as the measures necessary for its safe use. We discuss some actions in case of transiting to world-wide use of phage therapy with purpose to prolong the activ. life of phage therapy and to diminish possible complications.
