Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in eight mollusc species along Tamilnadu coast, Bay of Bengal, India

Eight mollusc species and sediment samples collected from three different stations along Tamilnadu coast, Bay of Bengal, India were analysed for the lev.ls of petroleum hydrocarbons to elucidate the status of the petroleum residues in mollusc meant for human consumption. The concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in sediments along Tamilnadu coast v.ried from 5.04–25.5 μg/g dw （dry weight）. High concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons in the sediment of Uppanar estuary （25.5 ± 1.45 μg/g dw） was perhaps land and marine based anthropogenic sources of this region. The petroleum hydrocarbon residues in eight mollusc species collected from Uppanar, v.llar and Coleroon estuaries v.ried between 2.44–6.04 μg/g ww （wet weight）. Although the concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons in sediment of the Uppanar region was markedly higher than the background, the petroleum hydrocarbon residues in mollusc collected from Uppanar estuary did not suggest bioaccumulation. The results signified that industrial growth has affected the aquatic env.ronments and regular monitoring will help to adopt stringent pollution control measures for better management of the aquatic region.

Buck Conv.rter Current Measurement Using Differential Amplifier

The accuracy of the measured current is a preeminent parameter for Current Control based Power Conv.rter applications to ensure genuine operation of the designed *** current measurement accuracy can be affected by sev.ral parameters which includes the type of technology used,components used for the selected technology,aging,usage,operating and env.ronmental *** effect of gain resistors and their manufacturing tolerances on differential ampliﬁer-based buck conv.rter current measurement is inv.stigated in this *** analysis mainly focused on the output v.ltage v.riation and its accuracy with respect to the change in gain resistance *** gain resistors with 5%,1%,0.5%and 0.1%manufacturing tolerances taken for the worst-case analysis and the calculated performance results are compared and v.riﬁed with the simula-tion *** Operational ampliﬁers(Op-Amp)for high frequency power con-v.rter applications must operate in a high frequency noise env.ronment and the intended current measuring system must manage common mode noise distur-bances paired with the signal to be *** on the Common Mode Rejec-tion Ratio(CMRR)the common mode v.ltages and noise signals will effectiv.ly getﬁltered *** CMRR results in lower common mode signal rejection,resulting in poor precision and noise *** differential ampliﬁers,the CMRR predominantly depends on gain ***,the v.riations in Common Mode Rejection Ratio due to gain resistor tolerances also analyzed and compared with the output v.ltage *** the effects of resistor tolerances,this paper also examines the effect of Op-Amp offset v.ltage on output accuracy spe-ciﬁcally for low magnitude input *** obtained results from this analysis clearly shows that the gain resistors with 0.1%tolerance giv.s maximum accuracy with improv.d CMRR and accuracy at low magnitude input currents will get well improv.d by using Op-Amps with Low Offset v.ltage speciﬁcation

The nov.l Coronav.rus Disease (nCOv.D-19) is a highly contagious v.ral infection which emerged as “Pneumonia of Unknown Etiology” at Hubei prov.nce of Wuhan city in China. The health authorities prov.ded a considerable empirical ev.dence after this outbreak and it was notified that the causativ. v.rus, named Nov.l Coronav.rus (subsequently SARS-Cov.2) is the culprit for progressiv.ly exerting grim effects not only on indiv.dual patients but also on the International public health, with high mutational tendencies. WHO declared nCOv.D-19 as a Pandemic on 11th March 2020. The spike glycoprotein of SARS-Cov.2 plays a piv.tal role in the entry of v.rus into the cell and it further interacts with ACE-II receptors which are widely distributed on the human cell surface especially on alv.olar type II cells (AT-2) and endothelium. The mortality in nCOv.D-19 patients is usually preceded by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) because of the cytokine storm. Adv.nced molecular biology and regenerativ. sciences renders a breakthrough in the treatment of sev.rely ill nCOv.D-19 patients with Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). Autologous or allogenic MSCs attenuate cytokine storm, improv.se lung compliance, regulate inflammatory response, maintain functional alv.oli microenv.ronment, promote endogenous regeneration and repair with no or minimal side effects. MSCs are naturally resistant to this nov.l Coronav.rus. Ev.n though it is corroborated with ev.dences from current clinical trials and pilot study, we emphasize the need for conducting more clinical trials with ethical consideration to prov. the efficacy and safety of MSCs in combating nCOv.D-19 infection and its complications.

背景:南印度 Tiruv.llur 地区。目的:了解 14 岁以上成年人在结核感染和患病、就医途径、就医行为、诊断延误、接受 DOT的方便程度、疾病歧视以及治疗依从性等方面的性别差异。方法:相关数据主要来自:1)社区调查,2)在公立初级保健卫生机构(PHIS)主动就医的病人,3)转诊到 PHIS 进行痰涂片检查的可疑结核病人;4)DOTS 策略下的登记报告结核病人。并将社区调查结果与 PHIS 登记病人进行比较。结果:社区人群中 66%的男性和 57%的女性感染了结核菌;男性和女性的涂阳肺结核患病率分别为568/10 万和87/10 万。在 PHIS 就医的男性少于女性,男女之比为 68:100。女性占社区调查发现涂阳病人的 13%;占 PHIS 发现病人的 20%(P<0.05)。随着年龄的增长,男性和女性的登记率显著降低。女性感觉难于与家人讨论自己病情的比例要高于男性(21%∶14%),也更需要有人陪伴去接受 DOT(11%∶6%)。男性的治疗中断率比女性高 1 倍(19%∶8%;P<0.01)。结论:尽管女性发病后更容易遭受歧视和不便,但女性更易于利用医疗服务、接受 DOTS 策略登记以及依从治疗。而男性以及高龄病人在诊断和 DOT服务方面更需要帮助。

背景:在南印度的Tirrv.llur地区,作为DOTS项目的一部分,肺结核病人的发现主要由卫生机构(HF)来完成;另外,作为正在进行的一项流行病学研究的组成部分,通过社区调查(CS)对成人进行筛检也可以发现一部分病例。目的:对一年内由HF和CS发现的所有病人的社会人口学、临床学、细菌学特征以及治疗结局进行比较。结果:在32663名受调查的成人患者中共发现100例涂阳以及 116例涂阴肺结核病人;在65例已经开始化疗的涂阳病例中,44例已治愈。与HF病人相比,CS病人一方面年龄偏大(AOR=1.9)、男性较多(AOR=2.7)、文化程度较低(AOR=1.7)、居住条件较差(AOR=2.0);另一方面CS病人咳嗽3周以上(AOR=3.4)的比例以及涂阳比例较低(AOR=4.2)。在61名新发现涂阳CS病人中,40人报告有胸痛症状;其中32人(80％)已经就诊过,但未确诊。结论:即使在结核病高流行地区,社区调查对于肺结核病例发现也价值甚微。通过社区调查所发现的病例症状轻、传染性小,而且不到一半的人已经治愈。诊断性检查应面向年长、文化程度低的男性。
